My unpacking only showed me moving the KK from work and onto my mobile cart. skreef has an excellent unpacking thread HERE IT IS. You are welcome to visit anytime that fits your schedule. It would be nice if you could see it in person before you hit the order button. I have seen Bosco's 23" & 32" KK, so I can give you my impressions of those and how they compare to the 19".

I was visiting and working in Atlanta years ago and there was a 1" overnight snow fall. I left the hotel around 7am, was the only one on the road and only 2 of the 200 people working at the warehouse showed up for work. Not making fun.....but truly a different mind set.......................and equipment to handle the snow. When we received 32" of snow over night.....3 employees were late to work.

The following is why I love my husband so much.

One thing I found out afterwards is that in very fine print on the bottom of the box it says "Made in Russia". USDA Organic lump made in Russia???????? WTH? It might be commie lump but it burns nice!!!!!!! -

Hey Garvinque...................Welcome!!!! Just 2 hours down the pike in Syracuse is a 19" TT KK that you can take a look at. Let me know your favorite protein, I'll pick it up. We will fire it up and you can try it out to see what you think. Also have most of the accessories that you are thinking about. Love the look of my 19" TT. Cooked 4 - 8lb Boston Butts on it with no problem. I cook direct all the time with little flair up....no problem with the distance to the fire box/coals. Offer stands anytime!!!!

Spun a nice little sirloin roast last night. Rubbed with Wegman's garlic & herb spice and Italian seasoning. Cooked at 250*F until 120* internal, then cranked the KK up to full flame and seared the outside until it has a nice and crispy bark. It was very good indeed. Redhead Sue claimed all the leftovers for lunch today. Need to use the rotisserie more often.

Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.

I found the facebook post to be curious..............shows the prototype grill looking like a KK but then he says they don't like the way the tiles look and they would change the top vent??? Not buying the statement they did it just to show constant improvement at KJ. Maybe they were trying to say they could make a grill "like" a KK but they choose not to?????? Meaning their "look" is better.......who knows?? I was kind of put off...................as my KK has tiles . Maybe I should retire my Joe JR in protest. -
Don't listen to them MacKenzie!!!!!!!

Don't listen to them MacKenzie..........that gravy was for the sandwich and was way to close to the french fries for comfort!!!!!

Excellent decision !!!!!!!!

We will do that. Have been experimenting with different sauces but have not tried that favor yet.

It was Redhead Sue's birthday yesterday and she invited some friends over for dinner. She loves beef ribs, so we threw some nice looking ones on the KK. Added a nice rib eye roast we found in the freezer. Smoked everything with some cherry wood. The beef ribs came off first and went into the oven to to hold until the roast came off at 125*F internal. Because it was her birthday, I was in charge of all the sides...........my finish timing for everything was not the best and I was scrambling ..........................so no plated pictures. Ordered a nice hand made ice cream cake from a local company for desert. A nice meal and a good time was had by all!!!!! Quick aside............our local Lowe's Hardware put this lump on sale. I snatched up a couple boxes and tried it. Have to say I'm very impressed. Uniform 3" pieces and it lights & burns nicely. Going to go back and get couple more boxes.

Welcome!!!!! Looks great on the patio. Enjoy!

No I didn't. This was my first cook in the new pot. The meat was smoked strong with hickory and I used a lot of onions & garlic. Cooked it for 6 hours at 250*F/ 121*C. After I washed the new pot (like cast iron - very little soap) , there was no lingering odor from the cook. I did cook in the oven. Not sure if the the pot would take on the smoke taste/smell if used in the KK??? My cast iron is well seasoned and I don't notice any lingering taste/odors when using it either. I did transport the finished stew in the new La Chamba pot to another house for dinner and it held the food temp like a heat soaked KK. Not thinking it is any better than a CI dutch oven........but it sure is pretty !!!!!! PS - It did clean up easier than my cast iron - FYI

A few years ago I saw a video by Chef Ming Tsai for a ceramic rice cooker called a Donabe Kamado-San and just had to have one. These have been made in Japan since the early 1800's and are still made by hand by the same company in Iga, Japan Check out some history. How it is Made. Never could cook rice worth a darn but now I cook it about once a week. Have not screwed it up yet. Recently a friend on the Primo forum and a great chef, gracoman, posted a topic on a clay/ceramic dutch oven made in Colombia, called La Chamba. (Video) He recently purchased a few pieces and was very impressed with the appearance, quality and their performance. And of course.......................I just had to have one!!!!! And it just happens to fit perfectly in the 19"KK TT. This past weekend, I smoked a couple chuck roasts on the KK and then use them to make a beef stew in the La Chamba. It was a fun cook and the new pot worked wonderfully. (picture before carrots & mushrooms & other goodies) I have plenty of cast iron but this ceramic cookware is in a class of it's own in appearance and history. If anyone is interested, Ancient Cookware is offering a 10% discount on orders placed before the end of December (I have no affiliation with them). PM me for the discount code.

Over the holiday weekend my family moved our Mother from Moline, Illinois to Cedar Rapids, Iowa, into a retirement community/assisted living apartment. Cedar Rapids is the home of our forum member tony b and my sister, who has lived there for 30 years. On Friday, I met my two sisters , my two nephews and one of their girlfriends at Mom's old apartment to pack up the rental truck. When we were ready to take off, the 2 nephews drove the truck, my sisters drove their cars and the girlfriend ended up riding with me in my van. It was the first time meeting the nephews girlfriend Sam and we had a nice conversation during the 1 1/2 hour trip to Cedar Rapids. She is a 25 year old, 5th grade school teacher who has lived in town for about 5 years. Smart & funny lady. During the conversation, she asks me if I get to Cedar Rapids a lot. I tell her about once a year but I'm sure it will be more now that Mom is living in town........plus, I have a BBQ / Grill forum buddy that I have been trying to meet up with. She then asked me if I was going to see him this weekend. I told her no because he was at big beer brewing/tasting meeting/conference in Chicago over weekend. She looks at me and asks "What is his name ?" I tell her.......Tony B. She says.....I KNOW HIM !!!!! NO WAY!!!!!!!! Turns out that she has a second job as a bartender at the Lion Bridge Brewery in Cedar Rapids. The local brew club has it's meetings there and she is positive she met a member named Tony. When we get to the apartment, I pull out my computer and show her a photo of Tony that he posted last Halloween. She says, Yup.......that's the Tony I met. He is sporting a beard now but it is him! Tony.....any truth to this young lady's story??????
