  1. I have done a lot of things in my life but welding steel is not one of them. When I built my rolling cart for the 19" TT KK, the only wheels Tractor Supply had were the swivel caster wheels. I ended up putting 4 of them on my cart. Normally a cart like that has 2 fixed wheels and 2 swivel wheels. Trying to move the cart with the 4 swivel wheels, all going in different directions, was like watching the Three Stooges or the Keystone Cops. I laughed at myself every time I tried to move it outside to cook. I tried to locate 2 fixed wheels to make it right but couldn't find a pair to match my swivel wheels. So I decided to have two of the swivel wheels welded in a fixed position. That would involve having to slide the KK off of the cart, onto a pallet, so I could bring the cart into work for the maintenance man to weld it up. It sounded simple but I was have a hard time finding a pallet(s) that matched the height of the cart. I was working by myself and didn't want to try and lift the KK. That's when I remembered..................30 years ago I tucked a small 120 volt welder in the back of the shed. Hey................Maybe I can do this myself with the KK in place????? Went to the shed and found the welder under a huge mouse nest. Cleaned it off as best as possible and plugged it in.....nothing! Gave the box a swift kick and it started humming. Bingo! Tim the Tool Man has nothing on me. Welding can't be that hard!!!! Borrowed a welding helmet from work, hooked everything up, got the grill & cart into position and proceeded to weld away. It took me about 10 tries but I finally managed to get a bead going. Only got the welding rod stuck on the wheel another 10 times. Went through 15 welding rods.......... but finally managed to get 2 good spot welds on each of the caster wheel frames. Here is the good laugh...........my finished results: It did the trick....the wheels no longer swivel and the cart is manageable now.....and the great thing is that you can't see the welds from a standing position . I do not plan to quit my day job!!!!!!! Too much fun.
  2. Congrats!!!! Looking forward to the pictures to see the new 22" TT. Welcome!!!!
  3. Classic move with the power tool!!!!!!
  4. Quick Thursday night cook..............skirt steaks (for dinner) and chicken breasts (for lunch salads) over cherry wood. Didn't do to bad on the timing.........placed the thinner steaks over a small drip pan and placed the chicken directly over the fire. Both were ready and came off the grill at the same time. Miracles do still happen . Picture just before flipping the steaks. Quick aside...............interesting Christmas gift from one of my daughters. Have to figure out the best way to test........ put the different salts on the same type of meat for accurate comparison?????
  5. Agree with Charles, two is enough for me .......................I'm on the Primo forum and here. Can't keep up with the Guru site. Too many posts and not enough time.
  6. I use the motor that came with my Weber rotisserie kit......works fine!
  7. I hope MacKenzie doesn't see that cooking grate .........................she might disown you!!!!!
  8. Fine looking meal..............................plus I think you take better pictures than ckreef The plated photo is great!
  9. Our Wegman's buys a bunch of local produce and meat from the vendors that also sell at the farmers market during the summer months. Great option for us in the winter. I love our Wegman's stores!!!!!
  10. Welcome. I have seen non-KK cracked fireboxes drilled and wired together with success......your crazy idea might just work.
  11. golfpro........................check out this THREAD
  12. Very cool!!! Saving up to buy a 42....................really interested in your photos/thoughts/comments. Since you know the 23".............go with something BIG for the first cook!!!
  13. I remember Dennis telling an owner that over time the spring & plate could become "gunked" up and that they might have to spray with a penetrating oil to loosen it up. Would be careful not to spray too much but a little hit may help.
  14. The rotisserie can be a pain in the rear until you get it figured out. It will be second nature once you get all the parts and pieces in the right place
  15. That was a fun party Mac...............................
  16. Ok....have to set the stage for this cook. It is 24*F outside, both freezing rain & snowing, wind blowing 30 mph.......basically......miserable weather even in a normal Syracuse winter. Crank up the fireplace and set the TV trays up. Open up the garage door, push Mac the KK just to the edge and fire it up. We love cherry smoked skirt steaks.........fresh from a local farm. Fire up the Donabe Komado San rice cooker. Chop up fresh garlic, ginger and green onions....add to mixed veggies. Add the cooked rice. Enjoy a delicious steak and rice dinner in front of the fireplace with an ice cold adult beverage. Perfect way to spend a crummy winter evening
  17. We have a guy a work who is an alpha male all the way. He walked into his local bar to meet his buddies and orders a beer. He looks up at the TV and sees a picture of Miss Jenner all gussied up.......and says to his buddies......"Who is that good looking babe?". All his buddies started cracking up laughing. Our alpha male from work finally realizes who it was and what he said.............he turns around and walks out of the bar leaving his beer untouched. Guess he felt the abuse from his buddies was not worth a cold beer.
  18. I expected to see this...........................................................
  19. Looking at pictures again...the main cooking grate, hanging on the side, looks like it was never cooked on and the latch closes the lid, even thought it is bent. Interesting!!!!
  20. This is how I moved my 19" TT KK (twice).........................You can't see it but I screwed 2x4's to the trailer in front and In back of the grill to help keep it from sliding. It didn't move at all. I
  21. I bought my first box of this lump on a whim,....just to try it. Could not imagine how they would sell any at $20 + per box........but at $11 per box it was worth a try to see if it was any good. I was so impressed after the the first cook, I went back and bought 7 more boxes. I have opened two boxes (in different locations & different grills) and have burned thru about half of each box. The first thing I noticed was the consistent size of the lump. Nice fist sized pieces. No small or large hunks. Both boxes I opened have been the same. Not at the bottom yet, but no dust when I poured the lump directly from the box. I was also impressed at how easily it lights using the Mapp torch and very little sparks. I have a small wire lump basket in the KK and after a two hour cook at 250*F plus a 500* sear....it was crazy how little ash there was on the remaining lump when I removed the basket to shake the ash off. The remaining lump almost looked like it was never lit. It also rocketed from 250* to 500* for the sear. On another BBQ site, a member said that they noticed this lump had a very clean burn, as his wife does not like smokey tasting food. I have always used smoking wood for my cooks, so can't verify that. I can only compare it to two or three local brands but so far.................... it and Coffee Char are the best I have used. Is it worth $20 a box.....No! Even marked down at $10.91 a box it is expensive but I liked it enough to go back and buy more. I think I read that another company is marketing the same product under a different name and it is Hogsfan/Baby Back Maniac's go to lump also (don't quote me on that statement). Worth a try if you can get a discounted box.
  22. And he was my hero in high school.......................how times change!!!
  23. I think I was married to that lady once........................
  24. I raised all three of my daughters in the Catholic church and found this 5 minute video super funny. Rated G (for real this time Bryan ) . How a four year old boy views God!!!!
