  1. Oh YES! Another incredible cook, MacK. That pulled beef is so moist, it must be illegal
  2. Those chicken legs look incredible, Charles. Looks like the Grill Grates are something I'll be purchasing. Thanks for posting pictures.

    KK moisture

Thanks all. Yeppers... It didn't take long after I took delivery of the KK For Miss Jean to agree to marry me. Those KK's are really "Chick-magnets", and everybody knows that the ones with pebbles cook better! I've heard of marrying someone for their money, but this might be the first recorded instance of someone marrying for a KK!

    KK moisture

Ribs are cooked and ready to go to the reunion. They turned out really moist and tasty. Hope the family likes 'em... This will be the weekend where we tell them that "Miss Jean" has agreed to become "Mrs. Geo"!

    KK moisture

Here's something that I never had happen on my green kamado... I'm cooking 6 racks of Baby Back Ribs on my KK this evening, to take to a family reunion tomorrow. The aroma of the cook is driving me crazy (Probably the neighbor's too!). I look over at the KK, and see moisture dripping off the top vent, and running down the outside of the dome! The air inside the KK is so moist that the smoke coming out of the top vent is condensing, and forming drops that are big enough to run down the sides. Those are going to be some incredible ribs!
  6. Hi Shuley. Sorry I'm so late welcoming you to the forum. Glad you've joined. The pictures don't show it well, but I just positioned the plywood such that the thresholds were near the middle of the board. I didn't do anything to protect the threshold. The plywood rocked up, then down as we rolled the KK over it. There was no damage to either the threshold or the track that guides the sliding door. I wouldn't hesitate to do it that way again. If I can be of any assistance, don't hesitate to contact me. Best wishes on your purchase. I know you'll be pleased.
  7. As if all those options weren't enough, here's another... Get the basket splitter, which can be used to have lump only on one side of the basket. When you use that, you have 2-zone cooking, and direct/indirect zones in your KK! Use the indirect side to keep a steak warm while you're cooking another more-done for a friend, or use the 2 zones to reverse sear steaks. Also a great place to melt cheese over a burger. Enjoy

    Salmon on KK

We don't often talk about cooking fish on our KKs, but this evening, I had my first attempt at cooking Salmon. Kept it really simple... Placed on Frogmatt, added some Lemon juice, and cooked over Coffee char. Was a bit concerned that the Coffee char might be too strong for the fish, but that wasn't the case at all. In fact, the Coffee char added a wonderful flavor which complemented the salmon perfectly. The salmon ended up being flaky, yet incredibly moist... Just what we'd expect from a KK.
  9. Congratulations, Charles. Way to go!!!
  10. Wanted to try Coffee char with burgers this evening. Saw a post recently about smoking burgers over Coffee char, but couldn't find it. Remembering what I could, here's what I did... Using basket splitter to create 2-zone cooking, filled one side of basket with Coffee char. Lit lump, and waited for temp to increase to about 150° Put burgers on lower grate over indirect heat, to smoke while temp ramped up to 300° Slid burgers over direct heat. Didn't keep track of time. When done (Miss Jean likes them medium-well), moved them over indirect side to melt cheese i gotta tell you, these were REALLY tasty burgers. I'm reluctantly posting a picture to keep people from giving me that "No pictures, didn't happen" phrase. When you see the double slice of cheese, and the mound of grilled onions, you're probably going to say that's too much, but remember that's the way we like 'em. I'm loving that Coffee char! What wonderful flavor!

    Small Meatloaf

Great looking meatloaf, Charles. Makes me hungry.
  16. Great-looking ribs, tinyfish. Why do I torture myself by looking at pictures like that when I'm on the road? I had a turkey pot pie this evening.
  17. Miss Jean and I are enjoying a trip to the Smoky Mountains. Our first time here. Won't be our last! One thing though... What is this used for?

  19. Great idea, ck. Those look absolutely wonderful! The crust looks sooooo good. I can almost taste it!
  20. WOW! Great cook, MacK. Thanks for posting directions. I've gotta try that.
  21. Had one hamburger left from last evenings cook, and Miss Jean suggested cutting it up in our morning omelette. Tried that, and OMG! It was over-the-top good. The flavor and texture made it one of the best omelettes I've had! Sautéed it with celery, onion, and red bell pepper. We usually have bacon or sausage in our omelettes, but leftover hamburger cooked on the KK is definitely my new favorite. Wonderful aftertaste. If you like omelettes, give it a try.
  22. Good choices. Looking forward to pictures of the delivery, and seeing your KK on the patio. Hope you are able to get some sleep while waiting for the KK to arrive. :>)
  23. Great to have you on the forum, Ed. I presume you ordered the 23" Ultimate... What color? Tiles or Pebbles? Options? When do you expect delivery? Oh... One more thing... Get your camera ready. We all enjoy pictures of each other's KK's and cooks. Enjoy.
  24. What a lovely garden spot you've created! That pond really adds. Love the sound of water. Great spot to sit peacefully. Enjoy!
  25. Another over-the-top meal, MacK. I just finished dinner, but now I'm hungry again! Yummy
