  1. Got a phone call earlier today... My KK is arriving early, and will be delivered tomorrow (Thursday) between 10:00~2:00. Can you say "EXCITED"?! I already had a ramp that I had made to the height needed to go up/down the two short steps involved in getting it through the house, and made a "dry run" leap-frogging scrap plywood I cut to cover the flooring as I move that 600 pound beauty through the house. Can't wait!

No sleep at Geo's house tonight. :) The dog is even getting into the excitement.:) Please make sure you have lots of space on your camera card and that you have an extra battery ready for the camera.:) :smt031

Looks like you're ready to go! It's amazing what proper preparation can do!

  2. It's Wednesday... "Humpday" for many of you, but for me it's the day before my KK gets to Dallas! Funny how a cooker can control my thoughts!

From reading your posts here, the bar is set really high... Could it possibly be that good?

  3. Bosco suggested that while I wait for my KK to be delivered, I should read posts about his shipment. Just finished 8 pages, and I have 2 conclusions...

    1) I'm glad that my KK only has a truck ride to get here

    2) You guys are REALLY funny! I about fell out of my recliner reading posts, and seeing pictures.

    Too Funny!

We are a funny bunch to say the least.

Geo, you are lucky your delivery is a fast one, it didn't give us time to even get warmed up for your initiation. :)

  4. Looks mighty good, Bosco. You've set the bar pretty high... Might scare people out of the challenge this month . This is one more thing I gotta try when my KK arrives. Thanks for posting.
  5. Looking through all the options on the new interface. Really like it, but that's what we'd expect from KK!

  6. That's one more thing I gotta try!
  7. This won't be just any ordinary weekend here... My 23" KK is expected in Dallas on Thursday. Hope I can get delivery on Friday. To say I'm "Excited" would be an understatement! Already decided to do some Babyback ribs for first cook, then increase the temperature and do the initial burn. Is it Friday yet? 🙂🙂🙂

    Beef Ribs

What temperature did you use, Robert? My son loves beef ribs, and after seeing yours, I'll have to make some for him.
  9. Like your idea of putting it in the freezer to make it easier to work with. Thanks for sharing. I gotta stop looking at this website when it's lunch time!
  10. She's a beauty! Glad you got it!
  11. Great looking steak, Wilbur. Thanks for posting the recipe.
  12. Having just made a purchase decision myself, I understand you concern about the cost. Here are some things that reassure me with my KK purchase decision... 1) On the Komado Guru forum, there is a section for each brand of kamado, and under each brand is a user satisfaction survey. I didn't look at every single brand, but of the ones I read, the KK was the only kamado that got only the top marks in EVERY category! One of the categories considered pice, and even that got top scores from everyone who responded. 2) I have NEVER regretted spending extra for quality, but I have OFTEN regretted trying to save money and purchasing something I didn't like. 3) I googled Komado Kamado, and read about 10-pages of results. There wasn't even a hint of anyone being dissatisfied! 4) All the members of his forum speak very highly about the KK. I guess they could be stretching the truth (But I doubt that they are), but MacKenzi's pictures leave no doubt! If you have questions as you consider your decision, please ask-away!
  13. She's a beauty, twolken68. You couldn't have gotten a prettier one even if you had picked it out of the "Store" on the KK website. Great find! Looking forward to seeing your cooks.
  14. Thanks so much, MacKenzie. The pictures are gorgeous, and I really appreciate the cooking details. Things that might seem "Common Knowledge" to people who have been doing this for a while, are important details to those of us who are new. After seeing those pictures, I'm anxious to try it myself. Yummy!
  15. Welcome to the group, Newg4. Nice color selection. She'll be a real "Head-turner" when you have friends over! Looking forward to seeing pictures. As people have told me... "Pictures man. Pictures"!
  16. Many thanks to each of you for your warm welcome. I look forward to sharing experiences with all of you.
  17. Great news, Newg4. Will be anxiously awaiting pictures.
  18. Great news, cschaaf! I'm happy for you, but I doubt you'll get much sleep tonight. Enjoy it.
  19. Thanks Bosco. I'll get the motor on order. Don't want the lack of a motor to delay that first chicken cook! Will look at how much summer sun hits the KK. My patio is covered, and I have Phantom solar shades. I'm thinking that a cover might not be needed, but I do appreciate your suggestion. Btw... Dennis mentioned your SS and Teak side shelves. I ordered a pair. Hope you like 'em.
  20. Congratulations on your purchase, twolken68. It's very unusual to find a KK for sale. You did good! Will be watching for pictures. In case you haven't noticed, everything requires pictures here. I just purchased a KK today... She's a 23 like yours. Looking forward to reading about, and seeing, your posts.
  21. Yeppers... Those are the "Dark" pebbles. In talking to Dennis, I learned that in order to avoid patterns in the various shades of tiles, they sort them into dark, medium, and light colors. He obviously goes the "extra mile" to achieve a superior quality product! Will probably order more accessories after my credit card stops smoking! Will order the roti motor. Thanks. Being able to cook on the rotisserie was what led me to start looking at cookers other than the medium green one that's on my patio. Just replaced the gasket, and the hinge mechanism. Still need to replace the firebox. Obviously not on a par with the KK!
  22. Ordered 100# Coco char, and 100# Coffee char. Probably should have ordered more. Even with the additional 200#, it didn't increase shipping costs.
  23. Don't have a delivery date yet. Will post when I know. Ordered Baking Stone SS & Teak Side Tables Basket Splitter 8" Rotisserie w/ 6" reducer
  24. What all of you told me about Dennis was absolutely correct... He was a pleasure to talk with, was patient in answering my questions, extremely knowledgable, and didn't pressure me at all. Ordered a 23. Miss Jean picked the color, and since I'm not the greatest cook, I went with the pebbles... Lots of folks say they cook better, and I need all the assistance I can get! 😀 Thanks to all of you who answered my questions, and shared your wealth of experience. Geo
  25. Dennis mentioned these when I spoke with him this morning. Sounds like they aren't available yet, but will be soon. Should be a great accessory.
