@Shuley - also check out the picture of the shipping crate for the 23". I know you were interested in making a table out of yours. You'd have to pull off the KK boards then cut off the bottom leaving the top at whatever height you want. The hardest part will be getting the same length on each leg. Then trim the KK boards to fit the new diagonal.

If there was even a whisper of smoke on the 19", I'd have chosen that one. Without the smoke, he's got a "Is this thing on?" look on his face. I like the composition of that picture better. There is much less going on and the KK over in the left third pulls your eye. I had to go with the 23". Smoke, side tables, unique shape even if it's a very busy picture. It's like the 19" shot was taken by a photographer and the 23" was taken by someone standing around with a camera. ETA: I might have just talked myself into liking the 19" shot better lol

I haven't tried the basket splitter yet in my 23". I've thought about using it with the roti. If you're looking to spread out the heat on the roti, @ckreefhad a great idea with an infrared diffuser - http://komodokamadoforum.com/topic/6228-raks-gyro-a-rotisserie-improvement/?do=findComment&comment=64679 I've looked for one and can't find it in stores. I've thought about buying a few SS flavorizor bars and using them.

True, but in fairness, that could be said about most other kamados. The KK comes with a lot more than others do - I mean, what other kamado comes with spare parts? And love?
-
Hmmm, let's see if I can remember... My 23 came with 3 grates (main, lower, and upper) Charcoal basket Deflector Replacement gaskets for top and main Extra tiles Grout repair kit Replacement knobs for front and rear plates and control device plug Replacement springs for front damper and device plug Wrench for the spring Side mounting brackets for the tables and tools Tool hangers Allen wrench to mount the brackets I'm sure I'm missing something...... ETA: A round drip pan Teak handled grill grippers Spare plugs for the probe port

Great questions - keep 'em coming. Ease of moving - I have a 23" and it's pretty easy to move on a paver patio. The hardest part is getting it started, but a good lean on it will start the process. My patio has a slight grade away from the house (as most probably do), and for extra insurance (as suggested by @ckreef when he help me set it up) , I put some toilet shims under the wheels to prevent accidental moving. (http://komodokamadoforum.com/topic/6377-245-to-save-my-kk/#comment-67834) I believe @wilburpan moves his around regularly. There's no reason to move it out of the rain (see Cover below), but if you wanted to do that, I don't think it would be a problem. I'd worry move about an accidental sudden stop while moving it than I would about rain or hail ;). You know the line, it's not the fall that kills you, it's the sudden stop at the end. Getting it in place is a different story - you'll need some extra help getting it in place. You might be able to get the delivery person to use a palate jack to get it there depending on your setup. Cracked tiles - As @bosco said, you'll get replacement tiles and grout patch if something happens. I've never had to replace a tile, but it shouldn't be difficult. Easier to fix a cracked tile than a cracked ceramic shell of other kamados. Cover - I always cover both my KK and my KJ. I don't think it's necessary, I just like doing it.

Looks fantastic. Nice colors. I'm still on the search for a tri-tip. The Foodsaver marinator looks interesting. I put one in mu Amazon cart for future purchase. Thanks!

Stop saying 21! It just makes more work for the forum scrubber

@tony b No, take the pins off of the basket and switch sides that way. In other words, set the basket in front of you. If the round pin is on the left, take it off and move it to the right. I can't figure out why, but that worked for me. My pins would slowly unscrew until I did that.
-
Switch the pins around on the basket. That worked for me. It still turned the 'wrong' way for the motor pin, but I just used red locktite on that.

@ckreef I had to adjust my spring last night and your guide here - and more importantly, your in-person demo - made it a quick and easy process! Takes about 8 minutes. The hardest part is getting the cover back on with the washers in the right place. Those little buggers keep wanting to dance around while you are putting the cover back on.

@churchi, I think @wilburpanUses a weed torch to crank up the KK

Dennis, you look like a Spiderman villain with that shoulder gizmo. Next, you're going to have some high tech sunglasses after your surgery. What would be your villain name? TeakMan? GasserKrusher? Link the Cooker?

I'm still a noob, but I got: 6" rotisserie - I figured it was big enough for anything I'd ever do. That said, the 8" might be a better way to go. Haven't had a chance to use this yet. Stainless top side tables - love these. So easy to keep clean and I don't have to worry about setting hot things on them. They do get super hot in the sun, though. Ultimate Baking Stone - got this mostly as a pizza stone. I also anticipate baking breads o this. You could, however, use the deflector as a pizza stone Basket splitter - haven't had a chance to use this yet. I didn't get a second basket, but it would make this thing more usable. Cover - don't have mine yet so I can't speak from personal experience, but I'm a cover kind of guy, so this was a must for me So basically, I got just about everything except the drip pan. It seemed like they would be a pain to clean, so I just use the aluminum foil pans. If it's just a grease catcher, I line those with some foil so I can re-use the pan.

My wife is on spring break next week and I have to work. But, she wanted a tiller so I picked one up for her. She'll till some garden areas for us next week if the weather cooperates

22" Supreme with rotisserie and drip pan issue
cschaaf replied to ColoradoRick's topic in Techniques
I was wondering this too, thanks for asking it! Wow, somebody really has spent too much time at the hospital lately -
Yeah, mine is a true self watering - similar to what he does here: http://gardenfrugal.com/videos/diy-watering-container-10/ I used small plastic planters rather than the drainage pipe he used. It watered well, I think. The tomato plants grew tall, but only had about 4 tomatoes on each. They got to about golf ball sized, then never got any bigger. I'm hoping to plant some in the ground this year.

Best wishes, Dennis!
