Golden beast - first cook!

Congratulations on your new grill. I have the exact same grill. I’ve owned mine for about 4 months. What’s your steak secret? -
According to Smart Fire no adapter is needed for the newer KK’s with the fan port. The fan should work the existing fan port.
-
keep us posted if it fits pls
-
Does smart fire have a fan adapter for the KK?
-
I’m a sucker for a good sale. I’m even a sucker for free shipping especially where I live. With Labor Day coming up I’m eyeing the Bbq Guru website.
-
yup no make shift taping stuff to my grill. It’s a definite no for me.
-
Haha yes I feel the same. Who’s supplying the tape?
-
Flame boss has an adapter that works with the KK fan port. I also have a 21 and I also had large egg(sold). Your gonna love your grill. I’ve had mine for about 2 months. Your gonna be totally impressed with size of the grill grates. What color did u get?

I’m not happy with their answer. I really wanted an adapter to work with the fan port on my KK. I really don’t want to take apart my vent and use tape. The cyber Q is looking really attractive now.
-
I finally got a reply back from Thermoworks after showing them pics of the KK fan port. This is the response I got. “I would recommend pulling the vent assembly out, remove the wooden handle then use one of the 3 vent holes and taping the other two. Without knowing what's behind the vent that is the best option” So I’m guessing Thermoworks isn’t making an adapter to adapt billows to the KK.
-
I just got done chatting with a customer service agent and asked if there will be any adapters for the KK. He referred me to the adapters that are available now. I informed him that those adapters won’t work with the KK. I just received email asking for pictures of the KK and the fan port. So fingers crossed that Thermoworks will soon make an adapter to fit the KK.
-
Can u still reach out to the original owner and ask if he has completed the venting process? I’m assuming if the grill is a few years old the original owner must have vented the grill.
-
Would you be willing to ship some of the charcoal?
-
How are y’all like your signals? I’m considering getting one. Thermoworks always makes great products. Right now I’m undecided it’s a toss up between signals or the Cyber Q.
-
Why do deals like this appear everywhere but where I live. Nice grill the next owner is going to be super lucky
-
I inquired before it was available. According to Thermoworks they will have adapters for certain grills available soon.
-
No I woke up fully clothed. If I woke up naked I would be super worried. Hahaha.
-
No one woke me up. I was sawing logs on the swinging couch outside. I’m just glad there are no photos of me in all my glory last night on social media today.

So last night I cooked some ribs. Ribs turned out terrific. Everyone kept saying they were the best ribs I made so far. I got so drunk I passed out. I woke up at 4am and my KK was still going strong at 450 degrees. So my grill must have on for at least 12 hours if not longer at I’m guessing 450 degrees. I still got some charcoal left over. I found this incident funny but what wasn’t funny was I had to go to work with hangover. Just wanted to share my funny moment (funny to me).

I have to agree with you South American lump is a lot more dense. I really miss Wicked Goods Jake’s blend charcoal. It was difficult to light but once it got going there’s was no stopping it. It had very little ash after every cook. The next cook shake the ash off and there’s still a lot of charcoal leftover never had to add very much. To bad Wicked Goods Jake’s blend is no longer in production.

Thanks Dennis. That’s why I bought your grill. Less maintenance and more cooking/drinking time
-
How long is the gasket suppose to last?
-
Nice grill and great price.
