I'm way behind the times but I've been good and deserve a new, reasonably priced toy. I've never used a torch of any kind to start a fire in a cooker. If the NakedWhiz had an article or review on the topic, I would be studying now. Since there isn't one, I'm having to wing it. These are on eBay and seem to go for a decent price: http://cgi.ebay.com/ROTHENBERGER-PRO-PROPANE-MAPP-TORCH-SET_W0QQitemZ380011487986QQihZ025QQcategoryZ67057QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem Any thoughts? I presume a hose is handy or even critical so that the gas canister need not be inverted? If there is a better internet deal that you know of, please advise. Thanks in advance.

Drop the "Jammies" monicker and call 'em Komodo Komdoms and suddenly the added girth becomes an asset.

Speaking of which: Wikipedia has a Kamado article And no, I've had nothing to do with it. I'm too opinionated to contribute anything meaningful to it.

Thanks buddy, I was afraid no one would catch that.

Nah. Those look like Landsat photos to me. For example: Greece Crete Quikrete

Mike, I had forgotten all about the doctorfungus website. Thanks. It's an excellent source. Kinda backs up my notion that their claim that pcr was necessary was absurd. I'm done hijacking this thread. Back to 19.5" OTBs.

ooo... a mycologist!!! Hopefully a medical mycologist that is. If so... As off topic as humanly possible, but since you're here, should I be really pissed that my reference lab refuses to speciate a Trichophyton? I know may other labs speciate without even being asked. It was isolated from an asymptomatic cat but the child it sleeps with has ringworm. Don't think the pediatrician did a culture. I know Trichophyton is usually from an environmental exposure and not animal borne and that it's just as likely the kid exposed the cat, but I thought a species ID may help exonerate the cat, esp if the pediatrician does his part. I'm going to raise a really big stink tomorrow unless I find out I'm out of line. Feel free to answer via pm but I wanted to raise my post count.

Sorry about that. Damn KFF housekeeper. Set me up to look stoopid. Just in case anyone is still interested in what I was trying to show, Duck833 had plans to blow up his problematic #9 and post it on YouTube. Hasn't gotten around to it as far as I know. But this thread is about the new Duk! Sorry to turn the limelight away from you. But, if you ever want to blow up those two #7's, you've got a ready made audience!
-
Oops. Sorry. Had you confused with Duck833 (hence the reference to blowing things up) who's tale can be read about here: Duck833's kamado fraud forum thread As far as I know, he has yet to carry out the plan for his #9's demise. Glad to have you, Duk, even if you're not going to blow up your POSKs.

Welcome aboard. I'm guessing you're the Duk from another forum with a rather problematic #9? Here's hoping that you're never tempted to blow up your komodo.

Tormek Knife Sharpener
gerard replied to Curly's topic in The Ceramic World Online & Other Relevant Links
I've used the Tru Hone many times. It's made for sharpening several hundred to several thousand $6 knives per day in a packing house and does it very very well. It takes lots of steel off quickly and after a few months the knives can look like ice picks. Doesn't matter on cheap knives but I don't think anyone here would want to use it on their yuppie Japanese knives. But what do I know? I use an electric knife courtesy of the local Kmart. -
Re: Happy New Year! Happy New Year to you too, bud.

Naked Whiz review of Another Manufacturer's extruded
gerard replied to Sanny's topic in Relevant Product Reviews
Oooo.... Sanny. You're coming around and getting all militant. It's quite becoming. Now if you'll just dust off that account you made on the fraud forum and post the same thing there -
You were wise to not pick up the soap since there's a nifty dispenser right here:

I'm glad you clarified that for the masses. Personally, I think: The recipe and tech sections are the only ones I hope are kept clean cause everyone is bad on occasion and it sure can be tough to look through posts just like lots of folks say so I think its great that you try and move or organize threads into categories that match their descriptions so that the information is clear and thats whats important but not those general type sections which really shouldn't be messed with except unless its off the wall stuff in which case it's important for someone like you to move that stuff or perhaps one of the other three people with thread moving priviledges will do so but of course when you move a thread you say something about it in the new location so that readers will understand that's what you did when you do it. I hope I said that as eloquently as you did. :smt043
