ckreef
I have been wanting to order one of these off the Internet for a while to make up a batch of aged Devil's Lemonade. Found this today in a local liquor store so Mrs skreef bought it for me for my birthday. Contents included: 2 liter white oak barrel, Stand, Plug, Tap, Tasting glass, Funnel and 3 x 5ths of 84 proof unaged, clear whiskey. Will post some more pictures as the process continues. MacKenzie
Well I just hope you don't do too much tasting along the way and end up with an empty barrel before the due date.

ckreef
I will check this post in 8 years lolOutback Kamado Bar and Grill Nope, the smaller the barrel the more surface area per oz of liquor there is, so 3 - 4 months ageing in a barrel this size is like 4 - 5 years ageing in a 55 gallon barrel. CeramicChef
I used to brew up some shone years ago. We always ran it through an activated carbon charcoal filter. The shine test out at about 175 proof. If you injected about 2 pints into a keg of beer, you had a real party! Charles, I'm looking forward to your review of this product. tony b
Did this once myself a few years back with the local distillery selling the mini barrels and white dog. While it does accelerate the aging process, you run into another well known phenomenon - the angel's share. Unfortunately, in this small of a size barrel, the large surface area to volume also means that proportionally you're going to lose a lot of product to evaporation while waiting for it to mature. In my case, it was almost half. So, I only did it the one time. Your barrel is a bit bigger than the one I have - YMMV. Will be curious to see how your's finishes out.
ckreef
These ageing barrels are cut to fit together with no glue. The first thing you need to do is soak the barrel in water for 2 days (sorry no picture). This gets the wood to swell up sealing the barrel from leaks. . Next I measured my Devil's Lemonade mixture and filled the barrel. Will post some tasting pictures along the way. ckreef
What would happen if you put a couple of small pieces of coffee Char in there? The inside of these small barrels are chared before assembly so it's probably not needed. Sent from my XT1585 using Tapatalk
