  1. Well, about once a year we get these animals hunting in the Inlet in front of our home. It is always a joy to watch and deep down inside I am wishing for the possibility of one of them landing on a small watercraft.

  2. Exactly.. Nothing that a little sticky rice and mangos won't cure! I'm not happy but past the worst of it.. will be released tomorrow..

  3. The grill came and we got in place on Friday. Dennis said he'd get it to me for my party on the 4th and did. To be sure I did ruin 40 lbs of meat for the part I wanted to do a few test runs. Saturday I did a rack or spare ribs. Didn't think of taking a pick until it was to late. I did a brisket overnight Saturday into Sunday. Brought them both to work for everyone to eat. Big hit! This is the brisket.

  5. 4th - The bid day. Started 2 briskets overnight on Monday. About 7:00 am I added 5 racks of pork spare ribs. Took off the Briskets around 10:30 and spread out the ribs. Everything came out perfect. Used hickory for the smoke. I think I'm going to like this grill!

  6. Needed to back it down this steep slope that was already a mess from a previous piece of equipment without ending up in the water.

  7. Used a tractor with forks to meet the delivery truck at the end of the street. The streets to narrow and the truck was to long

  8. Thanks for all the responses and 2 cents. It got me back on track and I will be sticking with the cobalt blue! Can't wait. Will be asking more questions about what fuel/what first cooks to do in another thread. Thanks much for all the feedback!

  14. Bad idea,,,, I am a physical mess that seems to still be moving. Most think it is divine intervention but I think they just haven't found the portrait of Dorian Grey yet I have a few hobbies that occupy my time but my health is always getting in the way, so now taking the BBQ to a whole new level is fun. I have had Kamado style cookers for 50 years but this Komodo it the best by far. Now to figure out how to roast coffee on it

  15. That is good to know! Maybe MillCity should update the photos of that 500g roaster. What impressed me was the speed with which my questions were answered and the no nonsense manner in the way they answered. And Pequod, yes, I still have the motorized HG-1 and love it. So smooth and consistent that I wonder why the Lyn/Weber team did not do it originally. I just wish I had the new style grind adjustment pegs and not the screw/knob to tighten. The Monolith's have a capture style tightening collar very much like, the Titus grinder, and that style works very well too and Titus was the first I know of to do it that way. Titus is a great grinder but the cost is astronomical, I had a modified Versalab but the Titus is light years better. For brew/drip I use a Baratza Forte' BG. Here is my traveling grinder, a Lido 2, and my traveling French Press and the Moka Pot I use for travel.

  19. Jamie Congrats on your KK choice....all questions are good and answers are plentiful and mostly helpful As for a cover, while an excellent idea not time critical..enjoy your cooker first.. Dennis has the answers and many on the forum have great ideas Obanker...from the Outer Banks

  20. Good info and suggestions from FotonDrv for you. I would only clarify that the 500 gm North does have a drum speed control (as well as air). The lack of stirring arms is true but not much of an issue for me given the smaller amount of beans being dumped and the ability to just stir them with a hand or spoon in the cooling tray. The fan does a good job of cooling them down quickly. For the limited amount we consume each week, I couldn't justify the extra $1,500 for the 1 kgm roaster even though it does offer some advantages. I may use those savings to upgrade my grinder--it is the most surprisingly important component in the overall mix of equipment.

  25. Nice! I've only had poutine once- I didn't really "get" it. Maybe because I wasn't hungover. It seems like a hang over food to me? It is this an everyday kinda food?
