  1. Hi All, Now that my final payment has been made an my BB32 is on it's way, I thought it is a good time to introduce myself. I'm in Allen Texas just north of Dallas. My background and path to the BB32 is similar to a lot of stories I've read on the forum. I've been using a Large BGE for about 10 years. At the time I switched from a gasser to the BGE I was so impressed that I gave my very nice Weber gasser to my brother (which he still uses). I'm supper excited to join the next level experience of the KK. Like a lot of you I started out thinking about the 23. Talked to Dennis and even got on the build list for a 23....next day upgraded to the 32. My 32 is on the boat, hopefully arriving late April.

  2. Hello from Texas....Aledo. I just wanted to throw out a quick hello. I recently ordered a 32” BB and some accessories. I am waiting patiently, not really, for the big arrival in a couple of weeks. Tracking says it is anchored just outside port waiting her turn to be unloaded. I’ve been prowling around for a few weeks and am very impressed with everyone’s knowledge and the willingness to share it. I initially ordered the 23” Ultimate and after a lot of deliberation, came back and changed it to the BB. I’m not sure about y’all, but I always seem to have buyers remorse when I don't take the step up when I have the option to do it. So this time I did. Rather have more than not enough. I have never used a komado style cooker before, just a stick burner and a Blaze gasser. I was getting tired of being chained to my stick burner for 12-14 hours and was shopping a KJ BJ III. That’s when I tripped onto the KK website..... found the forum and the rest is history. I was very impressed with the KK quality and user feedback. It’s a pricey buy, but I believe long term it will be worth it. I guess my next buy will be a good blue tooth thermometer. The one I currently have is on life support. I’m leaning towards the ThermoWorks Signals, but still shopping it. I may add the billows but think I’ll hold off on a control fan for now. There is a lot of info and opinions about thermometers and fans on the forum. Takes a while to get through it all. Anyway, happy to be here and look forward to my first cook. Have to say I love this forum – everyone is awesome!

  3. Good evening, I just wanted to drop a quick note and say hello. I am in the EARLIEST stages of the process of getting a KK (I only emailed Dennis yesterday with some basic timeline/availability & shipping quote questions in fact) and while I haven't heard back from him yet.. in the past 48 hours I've gone from "Well maybe I will" to "Yeah I am committed, let's do it!". Even my wife is accepting of the idea so no excuses right? I'll be upgrading from a Large BGE that I've had for 7+ years and I am VERY excited to say the least and I already know that I'll be wanting the 32" BB with just about all the accessories + cover. I know COVID has made stock harder to get but HOPEFULLY I won't have too too long.. I'll keep my fingers crossed for good news from Dennis. I've been reading the forums the past few days and wanted to get my feet wet while I start the process of ownership. Hope everyone is doing well and happy to be here!

  6. So... The thermometer cable port is 1/2" inner diameter. Any reason we're not using that with the KK Hot/Cold Smoke Generator? I never run a thermometer through that hole anymore. I get better results sticking a probe into the mechanical thermometer hole in the lid. As a bonus, I can control high heats for bread without exposing the thermometer cables to excess heat. There is this idea that it's better to run the smoke through the fire. I certainly considered this, designing the original smoke pot. There, I'd made experiments where at high enough temperatures the gas from the smoke pot would actually catch fire. So this seemed reasonable. But we're talking science here, and I don't know how important this issue is for cold smoking.

  11. Troble I wish I had a KK parked up on that lawn. I’d get mobbed by a steady stream of walkers, runners and bike riders who exercise along that path. Here is a glimpse at Surfers Paradise from here. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  12. Keep the questions coming! That's what this Forum is for. Dennis will work with you to make sure that your final purchase meets all your needs. No pressure salesmanship from him. Only advice - load up the pallet with as much cocochar, coffee wood charcoal, coffee wood chunks as will fit - only way to get it these days.

  13. Looks like the waiting room for new KK deliveries is starting to fill up! Which color did you get and which accessories? I too will vouch for Thermoworks, I have the Signals, two Thermapens, a Thermopop, and another with a long probe I use for brewing.

  14. Welcome! I am new here as well but congrats on the purchase! What I can say is if you do go with ThermoWorks (no matter which model of theirs you go with) you are going to be VERY happy. I've owned a lot of their products over the years and every single one has exceeded expectations.

  15. Not the best. I found how it's packaged leads to a lot of broken pieces. If you can find this stuff it's way better. Sent from my SM-G975U using Tapatalk

  16. I don't know if I have the room for the full 42".. and the fact I was able to talk my wife into upgrading to a KK over the BGE was magic in of itself so I PROBABLY shouldn't push it too much yet... haha. As it is she has no idea how many accessories I have my eyes on I can already tell I won't regret it.. now I am in the excitement/anticipation of waiting phase and I haven't even confirmed a colour, square/pebble or anything! I'm in trouble.. haha

  23. We had a grand total of 2 community COVID cases diagnosed this week, so the State Government declares the capital city plus 3 surrounding Shires will be locked down at 5pm for 3 days( Thursday before Easter Friday). What do 2 million people within the lockdown area do? Drive to the coast outside the lock down area. This is Tugun on The Gold Coast.... with a full moon rising over The Pacific Ocean. It’s a beautiful still night. It’s normally a 50 minute drive. Today it took 3 hours. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  24. Unfortunately, the challenge to those of us with older KKs is that you can't run Dennis' smoker and the Guru fan at the same time - it's a shared port. Of course, Dennis solved this problem with the later models with separate ports. He's willing to ship the parts to folks with older KKs to drill that separate smoker port, but I'm waaaay too nervous about doing something like that to my KK. Others have done it successfully - I just won't be one of them.

  25. I went to school in Austin (before Franklin's) so The Salt Lick will always be #1 to me. Hutchin's is the best in DFW area hands down IMHO. Sadly the original McKinney location suffered a kitchen fire a couple of months ago so it's closed at the moment for repairs. Accessories: basket splitter, pizza stone, H/C Smoker, grate grabbers, rotisserie spit, cover, coco char, Coffee Char.
