  1. Thanks Majestic. I'll give that a try. I'll have to look for a safesenders list. Not familar with that. Seems clicking the "mark as safe" button (which I do every message) doesn't do much more than move the message from junk to inbox. Definitely hasn't helped future messages from same sender.
  2. More bicycles than I've ever seen Well, maybe not, if I consider Amsterdam. But yes, Ragbrai ended in our town. With every bicycleist having to dip their tire in the Mississippi. Was great as the riders meeting their rides home at the campground were diverted right past my house! Some big teams too! and some very odd looking bicycles. Was fun to watch as I was setting up the yard for 5pm wedding. Thank goodness most of Ragbrai was finished by 3pm. Not so fun for pre wedding deliveries; as the 4 minute drive from the freeway to my house became an hour and half with all the traffic!!!! Pretty crazy for a one stop light town, and volunteer fire dept. But they all did great.
  3. Sounds like my kind of place!!! Welcome to the club/forum.
  4. Primeats! Nice pig roaster!! Especially liked the chicken wire wrap. Great idea. But, how about the apple?? Missed seeing that. Last whole pig the family did. The roaster we used; instead of the long spit spikes that insert/hold pig in place, was essentially a cage like the KK roti accessory where the pig was secured inside. Worked out great. Just curious if you've ever used that style?
  5. If that doesn't sell you on KomodoKamado; I doubt there's anything that will. Customer service is a hot ticket these days; and an attribute we've missed in the U.S. for a long time now. You're awesome Dennis. Thanks (from one little person) for doing your best and bringing customer service back!! For those in doubt; many of us experienced first hand what it's like not having those attributes in a company. Definitely not worth the few bucks you might "think" you're saving up front.
  6. DJ, looks great; but what's up with only 5 little potatos!!! Load that baby up!!! Cold baked potatos are great for lunches. I eat baked potatos cold like apples. I know, I'm weird. Just couldn't pass up giving you a bad time.
  7. Welcome and Howdy Skitteroni! If all goes well, I'll have your cover to you before the party!!! Or better yet; I'll hand carry it!! Welcome to the club!!!
  8. Recently most of the forum post notifications sent to my hotmail account are showing up in my "Junk" folder versus "Inbox". Some still arrive in Inbox; however, less and less. Anyone know how to fix so all notices show up in inbox, not junk? Thanks in advance.
  9. What's the difference between the oldest and second oldest professions?........ The oldest always leaves the customer with a smile!!
  10. Jackie, I guess Italian pizza rubbed off on me in my overseas years. I prefer my pizza like the Italians; thin to win, little toppings, and baked in wood fired oven. That's what's so nice about the KK; being able to use it as a pizza oven eliminates having to build a separate one.
  11. Makin me hungry........ Glad to hear no fireworks this time. Good job. Do you make your own pizza dough?
  12. That looks wonderful Saucier. Now I want a taste test. Great job.
  13. Re: 5 ft 10 inches.. I'm 5'5", and my base is somewhat smaller than a palette. And I hardly fall over at all! You funny gal Sanny. I think you'll find riding that small base of yours in the back of a truck, or on a forklift may require a hand from TNW.
  14. I've been in resturants smaller than 18X20. For that size canopy you'll need another KK....... so you can offer lots of food choices. Good price though.
  15. CheffJeff, Very nice in deed. Looks great. Nice setting too!!! Would you mind, email me both pictures? With Johnnyboy Jammies off and on. I would like to use them. Thanks, Johnnyboy
  16. Dennis, I worked shipping/receiving/warehousing for many years, many years ago. Looks great to me, stackable, easy to fork. Shrink wrap, the kind you actually shrink is great for keeping water out as well as holding pallet load together. The type I remember were like a bag set upside down over the load, then shrinked/secured everything to the pallet. Maybe the saran stuff they wrap around the load (from a roll), may be way to go these days. We didn't use much of it back then. But recently I had a couple pallets of rock and mortar delivered to my driveway. I asked the driver "Do I need to unpack now to get those bags of mortar out, of are they okay a couple days, possible rain". He said "No worry". Sure enough it rained and no problem.
  17. Does make sense JDBower. Thanks a bunch.
  18. I got to wondering, after reading Jackie f/ Jersey post of cautioning lighting a filled grill, about the properties/types of gas. I have a Natural Gas (NG) burner. There's been many times the burner has gone out on me. Before I re-light I definitely open the dome and smell for gas. Many times the heat deflector is in and I never take it out. If I don't smell gas I close it; most times I don't smell gas. I'd think there must be some gas trapped under the heat deflector; but I've never experienced even a little boom. Kinda confuses me how fast the gas dissipates. Is that something NG does better than Propane/Butane?
  19. That's awesome, Dennis. You can't beat that! Let's just hope some of those genes were passed to you. I would have never guessed you were related to Art Linkletter; I used to watch him as a kid.
  20. I think allot of us know what you're going through. Just keep the idea alive. Try and get her involved in color selection, etc. Maybe a wife out there who was not so sure at the time but sold now could jump in and give you ideas. I kept singing this is my hobby, and kept reminding her of her ever so important shoes/clothes/purses/jewlery. Hehe-he I know I'm bad. Don't get the K! Unless you want the I told you so treatment when it breaks, and you're ignored or told nothing is wrong by the company. Let me say this. The wife is definitely sold now on the cooker. I'll ask her if she minds someone calls her. Maybe we can hook the wifes up.
  21. Bobvoeh, Great looking steaks!!! Good job. I want to caution you on using Pam. I used to use it also on my grills and as a lubricant. Let me preface my next statement, I have a K so I'm not sure how this applies to you. But Pam gunks up over time. Gunked up the threads on my dome hat so bad I could no longer turn it by hand. Also gunked up on the draft door slide tubes/receiver tubes that led to having to remount the receiver portion in the K. I've since switched to EVOO and have had no problems since.
  22. Dennis Link wrote: She in fact became the only one rubbing at all, because that's what she thought, it was something I was putting on. She does better than I do at seasoning anyway. I've edited this post. It's beginning to sound like I'm bashing extruded. I want to be clear. No way; it's great stuff for all the reasons everyone states, does burn long, hot, etc. The only reason I want to inform folks of anything is because if you take the plunge like I did (more weight better price per pound to ship); you could end up with hundreds of pounds of a flavor you or your spouse don't care for.
  23. I've always found the most consistency and best results by stacking them like little chimneys. First I shake the old ash, then stack on the remaining pieces.
  24. I've noticed a few posts by folks stating they don't need a full pallet. Okay, a full pallet is allot for one person, I understand. I'm just curious if there's a shelf life; I have extruded from 2003 still. I suggest not purchasing too much unless you know you're going to like it. My first two years in ceramic cooking extruded coconut was all we knew and used; I initially purchased 320 lbs of it, just from all the posts I read on how good it was and how difficult to get. Unfortunately, Wife was never excited about it; always noticed a taste she didn't care for. But we thought maybe the taste was old grease in the cooker. Used it anyway, and every time she was less and less excited about the cooker. Just not happy with results. Then I re-stocked and got the moldy stuff (RJ said it was okay to burn); now we both notice a unsatisfactory flavor, terrible. She said that's what I've been trying to tell you, yea, yea, yea...... (I'm hard headed wondering what's wrong with us, everyone else loves it!) On the other forum extruded coconut was held in the highest of regards. To the point hardwood lump was rarely referenced. So, on one of our trips to the grocery store I just happened to notice bags of hardwood lump. Thought what the heck, so picked one up to try. My point is to make sure to try other charcoals as well before you stock tons of one like I did.
  25. That woman on the side of the road better watch out. A little swerve on the bike, bang, she might be crawling her way out from under a rice cracker mountain!!!
