  1. yes new avatar looks very South Beach....definitely explains the pink grill.
  2. Wow that looks and sounds great. A must try for me. As I saw the picture of the K I made a mental note not to tease you about it....then DJ does it.
  3. Johnnyboy...if I read it here doesn't that make me an expert? I remember reading about it cause I wanted to try a chuck roll, but I never see them in the store. I do see rather large clod roasts....has anyone tried one of those? There have been quite a few posts here on the chuck roll. Just to toss the ribbing back......that is what the search option is for.
  4. Congratulations...great persistence. I'm sure prices will follow. Do you think they will be able to supply you consistently? Dennis wrote:
  5. There are a number of posts regarding this....try search for chuck roll
  6. As I recall previous chuck rolls have taken 22 + hours. They were 20-25 lbs. There are previous posts and pictures here somewhere.
  7. Welcome Tim. You think people don't know about Omaha.....NCAA College World Series.....Go Fresno State! Wow you order a grill today and get delivery in a couple of days....great isn't it?...It is a beauty. Is it going to be a he or she and are you going to name it? In the couple of days you are waiting be sure to pick up some LUMP charcoal, and get the digital camera ready as we expect pictures here. What will your first cook be? You have picked an excellent grill to learn charcoal and ceramic cooking. I started with a gas option on the POSK competitor's grill. After a few cooks, I pulled it and never used it again. Although Dennis products are better designed, I did not feel the need for the gas option when I ordered my Komodo from him which I have had almost a year. The chimney starter and/or a mapp gas torch available at most hardwares is what I use. The big weed torch works well but I don't like to bother with the larger propane tanks. You will not be disappointed.
  8. Yeah...by Monday you will need some new pants!
  9. I should point out that my K7 is on an older style cart and probably sits shorter than newer K7's
  10. I hope you helped her wash the dishes!

    K or KK

  12. The pork butt does look like ham..
  13. One of the things I like about my KK over my K7 is it is a taller grill height and much more comfortable to work with. However the K7 would be much harder to open if it were set much higher due to the effort it takes to lift the top and the leverage I need to initiate the opening. That spring latch is pure genius Dennis. I love you for that! I am 5'4", and I'm thinking if 75% or so of the frequent users are male and probably closer to the average 5'10 or 11". I also don't have to consider space issues, as others might. Has anyone used other grill brands at different heights?
  14. Congratulations on the upcoming anniversary. Great work.
  15. So who owned the photographed KK? Did you order an extra one to send to Las Vegas?

    K or KK

GeoQue. I have both and the comparison is more like a high end lexus to a low end Kia. Both will cook, but the KK is far superior to 'use'. The self opening feature is worth the difference, and when you add up all the improved features, and customer service, It is worth it. Temp control is easier, all stainless products are superior, and there are no unattractive prop tubes. Then the customer service alone should seal the deal. I was happy with my K7 and I thought had a good relationship with the Kpeople... I was ignored and screwed by them for over a year before I discovered their competitor....the KK. Please note recent experience on their forum by TheHandler....a previous major fanboy of theirs. They ignored him as well, when he needed a new rod firebox. His calls and emails ignored for months. This probably will happen to you. Skip their torture which will make you more angry than you can imagine. Just move on to a KK and save yourself the torture. I believed myself to be a civilized person until I dealt with them a second time. Take the detour NOW! Your gut is telling you there is a major problem with Kamado Kustomer service. Do NOT IGNORE your gut feeling. If price is the major factor, grab one of the clearance specials. Any clearance item will be superior to anything they sell. I have had my K7 since 2001 and their complaints have gotten progressively worse, their forum has nearly collapsed. I may have gone over the edge here, but you asked the question and I think you know the answer. Good luck.
  17. Awesome....anyone have any pictures or are we supposed to buy the publication?

  19. Hi Curly...great to know you are still reading.
  20. Momentum... after 50 it was more of a free fall, but don't worry when you get there you'll laugh and scream all the way, like a roller coaster ride. Form Hawaii Hau'oli La Hanau Hanau ( Happy Birthday) from Hawaii
  21. Happy Birthday Dennis. The problem with 50 candles is you risk a flashback! Besides isn't 50 the new 30? ....at least that's what Dennis Hopper says on his commercial. Being just 66 months beyond 50 I can understand the momentum that picks up on the other side of the 'hill'. The little princess will keep you young for some time to come!
  22. Welcome to the forum. You will not be disappointed with your Komodo. I had a similar experience that you described....1st purchase from the other guy ok....second a nightmare. But you are soon to be ecstatic as this KK is more than twice as good as the 'OTHER' one. This forum is a lot more enjoyable as well!
