  1. First let me say I wouldn't put much stock in any reviews for either of these grates. Those buyers are using them as replacement grates for a gas or regular charcoal grill. They may or may not work for that application. We are using them for a very specific purpose that doesn't really relate to their use. Just a small cook on the Konro using the SS grate. A Bistro cut of meat and two U-6 shrimp (they were lounging around the freezer). It's 1/4" SS rods so you're never going to burn through it. It's heavy enough so it doesn't slide around like the stupid screens. While flipping the meat and shrimp it didn't slide at all. You do need to let it heat up a bit but at the temperature these Konros run at were only talking 2 or 3 minutes. I did use a paper towel to rub some oil on it just before the protein went on. Nothing sticked not even a little bit. An awesome SS grate for the Konro. I definitely recommend this upgrade. Note: This is sitting on a large 3 vent Konro. It would basically cover the entire cooking area on a md 2 vent Konro. Sort of crappy picture but you get the idea.
  2. You won't see us on a hoarder show but me and @tony b might start our own 12 step ceramics anonymous. Except ours is a reverse program. It's not 12 steps to break you of a ceramic dish addiction, it's 12 steps teaching people how to properly hoard ceramic dishes - LOL
  3. The owner of the store where we bought our pool table restores old pinball machines. He currently has a really nice one. "Doctor Dude". Not sure Mrs skreef would go for it as it would take up valuable real estate where one of the big stools resides. But it is a nice one.
  4. Great indoor Konro cook. It all looks delicious.
  5. Will probably take this grate on its maiden voyage tonight. Will report back later today.
  6. I hear you tony but I'm not counting my serving trays or bowls or general ceramic dishes and a bunch of older ramakins. And Pyrex definitely doesn't count. Throw that trash in the circular file where it belongs - LOL But it's nice to know I'm not alone in my obsession
  7. Walking through Publix I spied a new ceramic dish I hadn't seen before. It's 11"x7"x2.5". Should make an awesome 2 or 3 person casserole dish and will fit really well on my smaller kamados. At only $20 I just had to buy it. This makes dish #22 in my ceramic dish collection. Yea I have a problem
  8. Me and Mrs skreef really appreciate the kind words. It was a lot of work getting the walls finished in wood but it made her a very happy wife. @jonj here are a few close up pictures of the more interesting games. This has an interesting side story. Back when my grandmother was in her late teens a large biplane made an emergency landing in her parents farm field in up state NY. Back then this was a big deal. The entire community came out to check on the "crashed" biplane including a photographer. The biplane was a two seater containing the pilot and a mechanic. My grandmother being a pretty, young, lady started dating the mechanic. The mechanic also happened to be a race car driver driving a race car like the ones depicted on this board game. They got engaged but before they got married he died in his race car. He was trying to out run a train and lost. Although a tragic story, without the crash my grandmother would have never married my grandfather. A game about taking cotton bails to market on river boats. Interesting graphics. I especially like just below the #3 on the spinner. Very appropriate. Parcheesi originated in India. Although this is an American board it has graphics depicting India. Seemed to be a popular game but I had never heard of it. A game about Polly Pickles. It starts out when she was born and you follow her through he life as she becomes an actress. All her different adventures in her life until she finally becomes the "Queen of Movies". I imagine this was a young girls game which makes space #16 especially interesting. A caroom board with awesome graphics. One of the games is an export trading game with flags from around the world. These seem to have been produced forever with different graphics all the time. I have a few different hand dexterity puzzles. All of them impossible to win. This one is from England with the queen of England looking on. From the late 1800's (patented 1869). The flies are little felt pads. You used the spider body to push the flies around covering the corresponding circles on the web. Alas the spider has escaped. You see the spider was a big blob of mercury. Back in the day when they let kids play with mercury. You know they just didn't realize the whole brain damage going insane issue. I have a few Bagatelle games (table top pinball). This was a popular one made for many years. The color is faded but the caricatures are awesome. Drunk hill billys, convict paddling an old man, gypsy at bat etc.... This is an old German version. The wood and graphics are in excellent condition. It has traditional German style animated animals. And what's with all the pumpkin heads? A small version where you try and build a poker hand. This is one of my favorite pieces. A company from the turn of the century who made ivory billard and pool balls. I love the elephants playing pool. You know that's what elephants want to do just before they are killed for their ivory. Yea it was a different time back then. I was was only able to find 2 examples of this on the internet and one of those examples is hanging on my wall. Last but not least an old set of handcuffs. What story could these tell. Somebody wanted out of them they just didn't have enough time to complete the task. Sorry about the crappy pictures. By the time I reformatted them to a resonable size they lost some definition.

    Short Ribs

Ribs look good. Can't wait to see the piggy cook.
  10. This has been 3 years in the making. Progress was slow for the first two years but this past summer we decided to push for the completion. Everything you see was done by me and Mrs skreef. No contractors were involved. Small walk-in wet bar, expanded pantry, reclaimed wood on the walls, stained rustic molding, new doors, shelves, everything. The room features a Olhausen pine log pool table, Dart board and shuffle board. The walls are decorated with games and such. Most of them antiques but not everything. We still need to do some finishing touches but that will happen as time allows. The pool table. Pool accessories and darts. Some interesting antique board games. Blacksmith type hand puzzles and Macy's mobile. Games above the shuffle board. Walk-in wet bar. Small fishing section and small barrels. Window to the wet bar. Early 70's Japanese pachinko machine and Chinese cheakers. And last but not least a magic wall. We hope you enjoyed the pictures. The game room was a fantastic improvement for the house. We enjoy it nightly.
  11. Can't wait to see progress pictures of the ODK.
  12. Well it's 69* right now. It was about 75* earlier today before the sun went down. Not exactly burning up but I'm not complaing for the middle of January. If it wasn't so windy I had a special meal planned on the new Konro SS Grate. As it stands now I'm going to pan "B". Cheddar, Jalapeño, Angus burgers from the local butcher done on grill grates in the 16" KK. No complaints
  13. My 42" seems just right for me (I'm 6'1"). If I added 6" to get to 48" it would seem like the main grate was a bit in my face. In comparison 34"-36" would be a bit low for my liking. Anyway if it was me I'd fix the issue now while the fix is relatively easy. If you wait until this is in a more finished state it might not be so easy to fix. Sounds like you had the height about right when you were planning for a steel plate. The cement slab is what made it unacceptable.
  14. My 2 TT KK's dome opening is 42" high. That's a little lower than elbow for me and a little higher than elbow for Mrs skreef. A good compromise. We're happy with it. Sounds like yours might be a touch high. If the Mrs is not comfortable with it then she won't use it. That idea could be a positive or negative depending on your view point about the Mrs using the KK
  15. Good looking ribs. I don't know what kind of car you have but if it's a synthetic change than you came out ahead for sure. Besides a barter system makes for better commerce.
  16. Mighty fine looking rack of pork.
  17. TY MacKenzie it was definitely a good one. About to have a leftover slice for breakfast I was pleased with the dough but I think I can improve it. Will try again in a couple of weeks.
  18. Some recipes you read and follow from a book/internet. This one I started with a King Arthur Detroit Pizza recipe and changed it around a bit.
  19. A sour dough, supreme, pan pizza. Custom formulated sour dough. Homemade sauce. Sweet Italian sausage, ham, pepperoni, green peppers and onions. Came out pretty decent for a custom formulated dough mixed in a bread machine. Cooking in a WFO is all about temperature management and timing of putting the food in compared to the temperature. Pizza is a bit trickier compared to a caserole since you are also timing the rise compared to the temperature. I missed my optimum window and the WFO was about 50* cooler than I wanted it to be. None the less I just had to cook it an extra 10 minutes. Both me and Mrs skreef were pleased with the results.
  20. Expandable, heavy duty, SS Grate that fits the Konro. Made out of 1/4" SS rods. I got it at Lowes. Here it is on my LG Konro. On a md Konro it basically covers the entire grill area. I would love to try it out today but have a pizza planned for the WFO. Next weekend I'll see if I can come up with something kewl to cook on it and will update this thread when I do.
  21. You have way too much time on your hands.
  22. A great rendition of the recipe. Looks delicious.
  23. Nice roasted chicken.
  24. Nice looking ribs. I feel for you cooking in the snow. Can't let a little snow get in the way of good Q. But I must confess, it's currently 73* outside where I'm at
