Wow, excited to see your progress. You can adjust the spring tension so that the lid will stop wherever you let go. Search the boards, you should find instructions.

Check online before you go - it looks like the closest match it finds is Dubuque or Davenport. https://www.lowes.com/pd/Char-Broil-2039-04-cu-in-Lump-Charcoal/999979266 -
My controller didn't have an adapter that fit the guru port on the KK, so I went and got a pipe nipple. That was slightly too small and would pop out of the KK. I gave it a few wraps of paper and now it fits snug. Hey, you asked for a solution, you didn't ask for an elegant one.

I recently messed with my grout jacket and I don't think it's a huge deal... but I did so under Dennis' direction.
-
We'll be living this restore with you, @golfpro2301 Yes, that is a layer of the grout - you'll hear it called the 'jacket'. It's kind of like the shampoo/body wash combo - the grout performs the functions of both grout and mastic. In my experience, which is admittedly limited compared to a lot here, the grout gets soft enough that I think you could pop the tiles off of it with a small screwdriver. As I said before, don't just take my word for it, Dennis is the ultimate expert.

That's the Upper (reversible) grate hanging on the side, but I agree, it doesn't look like it's ever been in a hot grill. Either that, or they followed @MacKenzie's cleaning methods. lol
-
Welcome. I posted on the other board about heating up the grill to soften the grout. I think that might work out and you'd be less likely to damage any other tiles than you would be with a dremel. And, by the way, I am the proud owner of the KK that had the bent latch that ckreef fixed.

Much ado about nothing, I think. The new KJ updates look great - and as a current KJ owner, I have no reason to expect they would give me those updates. I don't understand why anyone feels that way. The firebox and top vent will be available and KJ users will get them sooner or later anyway - I'm sure you'll be able to buy one. Or, you can just wait until your current FB cracks or your top vent peels and get new ones. Top vent is not covered in the current lifetime warranty, though, so you might need to buy that one if you want it. It's mostly a cosmetic update anyway. The hinge is a different issue, it required a change in the body. Less likely, but old users can get the upgrade if their shell cracks. If I were in kamado-buying mode, I would have done research. That research should have easily lead me to the fact that KJ was planning big updates on their next model year. Then I would have had to make the choice to buy now or wait. If I bought now, there is no way I would have expected to get the old model essentially replaced by the new one when it came out. Now, if they stopped replacing fireboxes for legacy users, that would be a different story. That would be something to be angry about. I am also not reading the same into Bobby's messaging that the KJ will be like the iPhone where users will need to buy a new one every year. The message I get is that he feels they should not be satisfied with trying to stick to the status quo. Sometimes, upgrading parts will be easily backwards compatible. Sometimes they won't. I don't see it as a "Sorry for your luck" message. I thought is 'Craigslist' trade-in program was a joke... and I thought it was funny. I'm not sure why they felt they had to put tiles on one as a test, but it sounds like they aren't moving forward (and sounds like they never had plans of even moving forward) - so, this could actually help KK. Someone seeing that tiled KJ might think, "Wow, I love the tiled look". Do a Google search for 'tiled kamado' and see where they are likely to browse. -

Your first image shows up when you click the Activity dropdown on the tip right, then select All Activity. The second is the main landing page. Maybe your browser had both links cached?? The Activity link ends with /discover

I had this idea for the bracket a while back but haven't tried it yet. I don't use the rotisserie all that often, so the wing nut setup doesn't bother me enough to try it. http://komodokamadoforum.com/topic/6517-new-rotisserie-bracket-idea/#comment-69710

Dark circle shows there are unread items in that thread. Dark star shows there are unread items in that thread AND that you have posted in that thread. Click either of those to take you to the first unread message in that particular thread. If the circle or the star are grey, there are no unread items in that thread.

Wow, last time I had one filled was 2 years ago and it cost me $40 - and that wasn't from empty. After that, I never bothered going back. I think it was close to $3/lb The other part is - the only place in town that fills is Tractor Supply. That means you have to go in and stand in line at the register, because that's the only visible employee. Then you tell them you need a tank filled. If you're lucky, they understand what you mean. If not, you have to explain that the do, indeed, fill tanks there. Once they are convinced, then they have to call in the back to find 'Gus' - since he is the only one that is checked out on filling the tanks. Problem is, even the people in the back don't know where Gus went. Maybe he's on break? Oh, he did say something about going to lunch... but it seems like that was a while ago... let me go look.... Eventually, Gus is located, then you have to go meet him by the big tank. He grunts at your tank and suggests you go to Home Depot and exchange it the next time you need a refill. Gus sighs a few times, then decides to go ahead and fill the tank. Now you have to go back inside to pay. And they say, "Oh, didn't Gus show up? Let me go find him..." "No, no, no... Gus filled it, I just need to pay..." "Okay, that'll be $40" ugh The Home Depot used to be easy - it was a self-serve exchange. Took me about 8 minutes round trip. Now you have to go inside to pay for the swap first. It's also a challenge trying to find someone in there that knows the SKU for 'tank swap' so they can ring you up.
-
I'll have to re-check here, but it's typically a lot more expensive for me to re-fill than it is to swap, even with the difference in quantity. The only time I would use the re-fill is if I was doing a long cook on the gasser and my tank wasn't empty, but I didn't know if I had enough to finish the cook.

Print Recipe Function
cschaaf replied to FotonDrv's topic in Forum Suggestions, Issues and Enhancements
The One Handed post probably isn't the best example of something you would want to print in it's entirety. Susan gave us a ton of fun details. It wasn't a traditionally written recipe. I pasted it into Word and it was 24 pages. A Print option from the forum would have had the same result. This site double spaces after each Enter stroke, and Word sees that as a second Enter. Just deleting those lines got me down to 21 pages. Most of the images take up a full page, you could either resize or cut out some of them and get it down to a more manageable size. It also threw in a bunch of blank pages, I think due to the image size. And many pages had only a single line of text. Because the images were so large, they couldn't fit on that page and spilled over to their own page. With some quick editing, deleting pictures that wouldn't be necessary to duplicate the recipe, and resizing the ones you might want to keep. I got it down to 3 pages. Eliminate the images and it's under a page of text. For what it's worth, I don't print any recipes. I save them to Evernote and then use either my laptop, ipad, or iphone to view while I am cooking. I prefer the laptop out of the three. The ipad and iphone are devices from my work and lock out after 5 minutes. I can't change the setting. So it's a pain when you are covered in whatever you are cooking and the screen goes dark and you need to enter a passcode to get it back on. -

Try these: Paste Command-V Paste character or paragraph style Option-Command-V Paste and match style of destination text Option-Shift-Command-V There are 3 Mac users in my house right now and none of them use Pages, so they weren't sure. -

Understood. I prefer being able to edit before I print. I'm not very Mac literate - are there different versions of Paste in Pages? For example, in Word, I can choose to Paste (everything comes over including pictures and the source formatting), Paste - Merge Formatting (everything comes over including pictures, but it changes the formatting to the format of the destination Word doc), or Paste Text-only (only text, no formatting. I get all of those options when I right-click in the Word doc, not sure how to get them, or if they are available, in Pages?? If I get a chance today, I'll grab my wife's Mac and try to figure it out. -

I just click and drag the text then paste into a word processor. Then you can edit out the pieces you don't need or make any other changes. More often, I highlight the text and right-click and send it to Evernote. -
#1 is what I meant... the top grate, but on the bottom. I never know what to call that thing.

Thanks for posting this. My family requested a prime rib for our Christmas dinner. I was thinking about putting in the lower grate and doing the reverse sear way down near the coals. I learned a while back that the 'prime' in 'prime rib' was the name of the cut first - before the USDA came up with the grading designations. The cut comes from the rib primal. Now, restaurants and stores can only call it prime rib if it's prime grade. Otherwise, they will typically call it standing rib roast or rib roast.

Paragraph After Carriage Return

That bulleted list still shows with large spacing - at least on my PC. It's better, but not single spacing. It looks like Haven't checked on my phone or ipad Normal spacing (looks like double spacing) Bullet Spacing (looks like 1.5 spacing) Numbered Spacing -
^ +1 The end is double sided. Unscrew the end and flip it aroung.
