  1. Re: Pizza again Good question! Not with my pizza stone as it is not large enough. I am unsure of the dimensions of the upper grill and the stone that comes with the KK. But if he shortens the handle verses bending it in, then it would be no different that what he has now. So Dennis, does the pizza stone still fit on the upper grill? -=Jasen=-
  2. Worse case, if you cannot buy the smaller one, you can cut it to fit and place the cut end to the inside of the grill. But I know they have a smaller one as they sent me a new one when my old one fell out of my old K. Basically the one on the K did not fit (too small) and in trying to get it to work it fell right out. Luckily I kept the old one from my old K and working on getting it to the right inside diameter. Oh yeah, on the silicone thing. I used high temp black silicone on my guru port on the old K and it worked great. So good I used it to cement in my draft door that fell out too. That is what I will use here too. Also, I know I need to change my FAQ too. This whole guru question is one I brought up months back and thought I understood that no additional tube was required. So now I need to update it. -=Jasen=-

    Pork breast

Well I'll be damned! That does look very good! See, the funny thing about that is none of us would have ever thought to try it. -=Jasen=-

    Pork breast

Man, that would actually be great if he salted and seasoned it, then smoked it about 100 degrees for a few hours, sliced it, fried it up and brought it to me for breakfast this morning as man I am hungry for some bacon!!!!! -=Jasen=-
  5. Looks great dude! Your grill is also getting some really nice smoke character to it!! Must be using it too much - hehehe ! -=Jasen=-
  6. I just thought we had the best geek and didn't need any cheap immitations. And I got a finger for it. Sad. Sure that's what you meant!! -=Jasen=-
  7. you'll Hard to believe anyone is north of you. Real Southerners know how to use y'all Damn, I did not even notice - but I usually do use 'y'all'! Well, your north of me also; so now that finger goes to you now too (I'll just turn slightly north-west to catch you)! -=Jasen=-
  8. A certain finger rises in the direction to the north of me (and you'll are both north of me)! -=Jasen=-
  9. Re: Brisket temp and duration I think Dennis did or does make a raiser to place under the main grill to bring it level with the lip (there is a pic on one somewhere on the forum or his website of one). The thing about that is if you raise the main grill to level with the lip, you would probably not be able to use his new upper grill as that would place it too far up in the dome. -=Jasen=-
  10. Re: SWEEEEEEEET-ER STILL The grill is sitting on the firebox.. but not much higher than the new charcoal baskets 5" supports.. It feels very solid there.. Since it is so close to the supports extending from the charcoal basket, would it not be better to go ahead and raise the supports a tiny bit or shorten the handle (or bend them in a tiny bit) on the grill grate? That way you get the advantage of having the larger support. -=Jasen=-
  11. Re: Pizza Stone and this design My opinion only, since I have not tried it; but I would think it would burn the bottom long before the cheese melted. Most people want the pizza as close to the dome as possible so you get the most reflected heat and the pizza gets cooked more evenly. -=Jasen=-
  12. ?? Wow, no other electronic geeks on the forum? Oh well, it takes very little skills to put this together (just soldering); so if anyone is interested I have ordered all the parts and should get one together for testing in the next couple weeks. -=Jasen=-

    Pork breast

Hmmmm - Pork Boobies?? Can't say I have ever heard of that either. Last time I seen any pork boobies, they were hanging under the pig! Heheh - I also don't see anything close on this pork cut chart. If I am not mistaken, when they cut a whole ham from the front of a hog (lower section being a picnic and upper section being a boston butt) they cut pretty much to the center of the breast area and take half with each quarter. So I am wondering if he is gonna get something close to what we call a fresh picnic. Please take us some fresh and cooked pics Tobias! -=Jasen=-
  14. SWEEEEEEEET!! That looks great dude! You mention making the handles longer (wider?); is the grill sitting on the handle against the firebox or is it resting on the supports extending from the charcoal basket? I was going to suggest making the grill handles a little shorter (or angled in slightly more) and let the rack sit on the charcoal basket supports if it already was not doing so. -=Jasen=-
  15. Glad you decided to join the gang - welcome! -=Jasen=-
  16. So what color did you go with for the house, Bud? Food looks good, it is about time you got around to some cookin' and pics - hehe!! -=Jasen=-
  17. SUPER!! Now that is perfect!! How about a picture with it sitting on the lower bracket as a sear grill too (flipped maybe?)? -=Jasen=-
  18. The top damper being open that much is probably a great deal of the problem keeping it low. The trick to a Guru is to make it do all the work. Close your grill off tight everywhere and just allow for the smallest crack in the top damper to exhaust the smoke. With my old grill, as soon as the top hat came off the seat, that was good for 150-250 easy with the Guru. -=Jasen=-
  19. Re: Mounting a switch.. See, that is what I love about this place!! That is exactly what I was looking at doing on the back hinge too! -=Jasen=-

    Hello

Cool! That sounds great! Welcome to the forum and we look forward to hearing from you and seeing your grilling pics! -=Jasen=- Damn, Dennis was quicker on the draw!
  21. You suck Curly, you know that! I went through the trouble of moving the thread to another section (since you cannot post to the links section) and you post no comment!!! I love it - that was funny - but you still suck! I should have known better than to think you had something useful to post - haha! -=Jasen=-
  22. Ah pfft, that's just a load of baloney - - I meant loaf of baloney! hehe Actually looks real good. I think I mentioned to you before, we have a little German meat store close by (no comments on having a meat store - hehe) and one of the many things they make is Fleishkase which is very similar you what you have here. It is in a loaf form like meat loaf, but looks and taste like baloney that has been cooked in their smoke oven. It is very good and sold warm on Friday and Saturday (when they make it up fresh). -=Jasen=-
  23. Here are my plans (till the nice folks at Guru build the accessory timer): - Multi-mode timer kit - operating in mode 4 - ( http://www.electronics123.com/s.nl/it.A/id.375/.f ) (specs - http://electronics123.net/amazon/datasheet/k141.pdf ) - Mercury or non-mercury tilt switch ( http://www.philmore-datak.com/Page%20149.pdf ) - 9v battery and battery clip - BC-100 ( http://www.philmore-datak.com/EDS27.pdf ) Ended up not using - pulled power from Guru instead - small enclosure to house device w/ mount - 5.5mm od; 2.5mm id plugs /w leads and panel mount jacks ( http://www.philmore-datak.com/Page%2062.pdf ) This would allow you to plug your fan into this box, then plug the cord coming out of this box into your fan output from the guru. The device operates off the 9v battery (or power split from Guru plug). It would energize normally closed relay causing contacts to open when lid is lifted (tilt switch activates), thus killing power to fan. When lid is closed, tilt switch deactivates, relay is still energized and timing circuit begins. When timing circuit times out, relay de-energizes and normally closed circuit allows power back to fan. The timer used in this circuit is fully adjustable to allow for whatever time delay is needed for your cooker to equalize before allowing the fan to turn back on. In lieu of tilt switch, any kind of reed or snap action lever switch could work depending on your mounting situation. ( http://www.philmore-datak.com/Page%20138.pdf ) Please, any suggestions or comments welcome. -=Jasen=-
  24. Re: Looking better... FYI, the fixed leg version I requested in my post above would accomplish part of your request - more grill space under upper grill. I believe Dennis might be making both versions (might depend on what folks want, so voice it). However shipping the fixed leg would create a much bulkier package; unless the legs were made removable (similar to the meat hangers mount). -=Jasen=-
