  1. This is SOOO true. Since I got my KK last fall I got rid of my POSK kamado, cabinet smoker, and Weber kettle. I kept for a while but after going ~6mo of not using any of them, it was time to purge.
  2. @Enginerd ,@Firemonkeyposted this on how to keep a low temp for jerky.. Haven't tried it myself, but might be a good place to start.
  3. I really like the rod for the roti. Is that going to be a new KK accessory? Oh, and that pork looks awesome!
  4. Removed crazy picture. We want to see the 42".
  5. Will this work for those of us that have grills with square roti sockets?
  6. Now that's an idea I can get behind!
  7. This worked out great. I had the grill good and heat soaked before loading the meat, but even so, with 50lbs+ of cold meat, the temp fell below 200F. It took quite a while for my grill to climb back to my target temp at 250F. Pulled off around 11am this morning and it was absolutely fall apart tender. Ended up being a 15hr smoke. I sent it with my sister as the picnic was set to start at 1pm. I couldn't make it till ten minutes to four, and by then, this was all that was left. That disappeared quickly(as did the four large cabbage heads we chopped for the slaw) and it turned out great. Told my sister if she needs me to smoke more pork for next year's event, she'll need to by me a 32" KK.
  8. While I went with a Terra Blue for my KK, females in my family were begging me to get a Bronze one. We're located in central Ohio, So, I have to admit, they came up with a fantastic name in effort to persuade me: "LeBronze" After watching the Cav's unbelievable comeback in the NBA Finals, I was kinda wishing I had listened to them.
  9. So my sister is hosting a Pelotonia prep ride fund raiser tomorrow, and I was asked to make smoked pulled pork for the picnic afterwards. By her calculations, she is requiring over 50lbs of pork(before cooking) for the event. The challenge: Could I stuff six pork shoulders, 54lbs worth, on my 23" KK? The answer: No problem. Could have fit a seventh shoulder on the top rack if I needed without much issue, which would have taken the total amount of meat north of 60lbs on a 23" KK. That's a lot of meat! I'll follow up tomorrow with the results of this stuffed KK cook. Wish me luck!
  10. Congrats, @ckreef!!! That is one sweet bike!
  11. Very nice @bosco. You certainly know your way around a grill
  12. @MacKenzie Love the garden! We had a very late hard freeze here, wiped out our tomatoes even though they were covered, and seems to have stunted several others. Been replacing plants but our little garden is finally starting to go. Oh, and the bacon looks AWESOME!

Personal preference, but I like to cook mine w/o foiling, no water pan etc. ~225F the whole way, pull at 203F IT. Results in the bark I so crave. Oh that bark!!!
  14. That will come when I get side table #2
  15. So I really had not planned on grilling today, as the party I cooked for was on Saturday. However, while running an errand at my local grocer, I noticed some shrimp were on sale and I was developing an appetite sooo...... Why not a little bacon wrapped BBQ shrimp to top off the day? Grabbed a bundle of asparagus too. Quick, easy, and delicious. My charcoal basket was full, so I just lit one side. Got a nice two zone effect w/o using the basket splitter. On a side note, this was my first cook with the recently purchased side table. I like the silhouette of the 23", and to me, at least in pics, didn't care for the look of KK's with those that had them compared to the unaccessorized, 'clean' grills. Well, I very recently broke down and bought a side table just for utilitarian purposes. Low and behold, I really like how that looks on my grill, and tonight I'm asking myself: 1. Why didn't I purchase side tables when I purchased my KK last fall??? 2. Why in the hell didn't I purchase two last week instead on just one??? They(it for now) look great, better than in the website pics IMO, and they really make the brown hints in my Terra Blue tiles "pop." Love the wood.
  16. Umm ..... can I come over? Jeff that looks amazing! Great looking grill and it's evident already you have a little of the pitmaster gene in you.
  17. NOM-NOM-NOM those look great!
  18. Wow @Syzygies those look fantastic. It's been too long since I did beef ribs. Got to rectify that
  19. Leaf blower! This is completely unnecessary, but will get the coals going! (I do not recommend this)
  20. My local PBS didn't carry it either, so thx CeramicChef for the online link.
  21. Congrats on the grill! You're gonna love it! As already mentioned, buy a bunch of CocoChar or CoffeeChar charcoal with your grill, it's great stuff and you'll never get a better deal on shipping.
