  1. Breakfast tacos/burritos (tortillas were off size this week) Scrambled eggs with 1/2 & 1/2, thyme, salt, pepper and Parmesan cheese hash browns with garlic, salt, butter & black pepper Homemade tortillas (from my local Hispanic market) dusted with Mexican cheese in the skillet to get just a bit of crisp applewood smoked bacon, haas avocado and siracha sauce.

  3. Could this be tekobo's ship arriving with her Xmas stash of KKs?

  4. Thanks @Troble. I genuinely haven't thought much about my first cook. Having had KKs before, it doesn't feel like a "first" cook either. I think bread followed by pizzas on the 32 is going to be the first big test of whether I made the right choice in moving up a size. Being able to get three loaves on at once with steam will be great and I can a) crank it up a little for the pizzas and b) use that cook as a test of Dennis' factory burn in. All good.

  6. It’s a lazy Sunday morning here Troble and that brekky has inspired me to lift my game. The milk and cereal are going away. Thank you Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  7. Ha. New sofa arrived from Italy on Thursday so that has kept us occupied and distracted me from waiting for KK angst. The ship has been hanging around at sea, not far from the port for days and was predicted to dock at 9am tomorrow morning. This morning the ETA at dock suddenly changed to 8 December. Oh well, the KKs almost certainly won't make it through customs and to me this coming week. Fingers crossed for the week after. COVID, Christmas and Customs. What could go wrong???

  9. I'm not sure what to drool over most - the food or that place !! Particularly as it's grey and rainy here. Beer looks decent too.

  10. @tekobo congratulations- I just caught up on this thread. Can’t wait to see what your ordered, but also equally curious as to what you plan to cook first to show off your newfound setup. Any ideas?

  13. Do it! Just remember this is in Mexico 90 minutes south of San Diego. But there are 10-12 restaurants down there on this level. It is my source of cooking inspiration and my wife and I usually make the pilgrimage at least every fall and occasionally in spring to sample. when you get ready to plan I have a full on OCD itinerary I put together for my 40th birthday last year I’ll share with you

  16. That's a reasonable price for this level of meal. I've paid more! The pictures are all stunning! BUT, $85 for a bottle of water - REALLY??? What is it made from - the tears of angels??

  17. Well Paul, that's an amazing but heartbreaking walkthrough of what you went through to save your home. What's important is you were here to tell it. I just can't get my mind to wrap around granite turning to dust and those Quonset structures melting to the ground. In my area the Quonset huts are a familiar site here and there because they originated in R.I. Now when I see a hut my thoughts will be slightly altered, best of luck

  18. Y'all gotta wait at least six weeks. That's what Mr. Ben Lang told me for mine. Maybe being a Georgia resident, well maybe that might shorten the distance.

  20. So near and yet so far. The MOL Treasure will be going by near Portsmouth, where I live, in the next hour or so on its way to Rotterdam. Should be heading back my way in a day or two. The Husband says there is no point going down to the sea front to see if I can see the ship go by. He reckons it will be about 20 miles out at sea. Boo.

  21. I thought that I had just about kicked my habit and then Tekobo posts this! 😄 I literally have hundreds of cookbooks. Most are in boxes in the basement. I actually have a bookcase in my kitchen for the majority of the ones that I actually refer to. I periodically go through them and swap things around. I need to do that again soon, as I have a stack of newer cookbooks that need a home, with this one now on the way! Plus, the huge stack of printed out recipes from the Internet, as well.

  22. I am preparing for the arrival of my KKs. House has been painted, space cleared on shelves and this weekend we will do a winter tidy of the garden to make space now that the scaffolding for the painting is down. @sovsroc's post reminded me about the challenge with getting KKs off the pallet when an extra pallet is inserted under the one that the KK is packed on in Indonesia. I have written to agent to see if the extra pallet can be removed before delivery. He is looking into it. I have been avoiding tracking my vessel..up to now. I wanted to avoid stress and I thought it would be great to get the email, out of the blue, to tell me that my KKs have finally arrived in the UK. However, I couldn't resist and I looked up the tracking for the vessel day before yesterday. It is the MOL Treasure and even in a couple of days, the ETA to Rotterdam has slipped by half a day. Patience is indeed a virtue.

  23. I was left unsupervised last week, for about an hour before The Husband woke up, and I placed my order for three KKs. No goat. I will be getting a 32, 23 and a 16TT. It took me two days to tell The Husband. A friend asked if we would be replacing the two KKs with one large one and I casually said "no, three". The Husband rolled his eyes but is, happily, OK with my folly. I am soooo excited. When I was first choosing my current KKs @ckreef went on about needing more than one cooker so that you could get all the elements of your meal ready at the same time. At the time, as someone who didn't bbq very often, I thought that was ridiculous. Now that most of our entertaining is in the garden I really appreciate the value of being able to cook everything outdoors and now fire both KKs up much more often. The 16 is going to be great for sides, some low and slow and also for using in the depths of winter when I just want a quick cook. Yay. Only trouble is that it took another week to confirm colour so I will probably be lucky if my new KKs get to me here in the UK before November. I shall enjoy the anticipation.
