. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Uhhhh - NO !!!! . Gone all the way around the dial and then back up to 212 on the thermometer. Top vent set at 3 turns and bottom vent assembly removed. I should probably recalibrate my thermometer after this ride. . Looking in the bottom vent assembly. . . . . Three small filet mignon's. 2 1/2 minutes total time. . 45 seconds - rotate 45 seconds - flip Take picture 30 seconds - rotate 30 seconds - pull . Not the best picture for showing the rageing coals because I used the flash. . . . . . . With a parmesan cheese crust and in the broiler for about 40 seconds. . . . . . . On the rare side of md rare but how else would you eat a filet mignon? . . . . . One of the best steaks I've cooked in a while. Also the hottest I've ever taken this KK. Looking forward to doing it again. . . Charles - Prometheus 16.5", Cassiopeia 19" TT

I just have the regular tel-tru gauge on my KK. I just saw a picture of the fornetto oven gauge on the Internet and thought it was a really nice looking gauge. Charles - Prometheus 16.5", Cassiopeia 19" TT

That looks yummy. Charles - Prometheus 16.5", Cassiopeia 19" TT

I have to agree with that. No weight gain just a lot better tasting food and I tend to cook fancier meals when I have the time (not enough lately). Now my everyday meals just seem sort bland. Charles - Prometheus 16.5", Cassiopeia 19" TT

Fornetto has really a nice looking temp gauge on their wood ovens. I tried to download a picture but never got it to capture. Charles - Prometheus 16.5", Cassiopeia 19" TT

Another long Saturday but we got a pond installed. A few more plants and a couple more tweaks and this project will be a wrap. . Charles - Prometheus 16.5", Cassiopeia 19" TT

Very tasty looking and your money shots are fantastic. Charles - Prometheus 16.5", Cassiopeia 19" TT

If you need it done in 10 hours I'd crank it up to 275*-300*. It'll come out just fine. At 225* it could be a long cook. Charles - Prometheus 16.5", Cassiopeia 19" TT

This one came out fantastic. Went together without too much fuss. I like when cooks work out the way they are planned. Charles - Prometheus 16.5", Cassiopeia 19" TT

I had some small scallop shells already but that wasn't going to do for these large scallops. The recipe I followed had a link to a website that sells scallop shells so I bought six king scallop shells. They are almost 6" in diameter. Figured I'd be able to use them for a few other cooks. . Money shot didn't come out exactly the way I wanted but decent enough. One day I'll get me a nice camera. Charles - Prometheus 16.5", Cassiopeia 19" TT

My Italian entry for the April Guru Challenge. . Saffron Scallops served with a side salad of tomato and mozzarella and a basil/garlic bruschetto. . Bruschetto ingredients. . . Gently saute the garlic in OO. Set aside to cool. . . . Chop and mix all ingredients. Cover and rest in refrigerator for a couple of hours to let all the flavors mingle and infuse. . . Tomato and mozzarella salad ingredients. . . Saffron Scallops ingredients. . . Toasted baguette. . . Large scallops, CI Seared at 450* for 2 minutes each side for a perfect MD - the way scallops should be served. . . Loved this meal. . . I've never cooked with saffron before - I'll do it again. . I hate bruschetto - let me rephrase - I hate chain restaurant bruschetto (they always overdose it with onion). By far the best bruschetto I've ever eaten and I have a couple of ideas to make it even better. Charles - Prometheus 16.5", Cassiopeia 19" TT

Feed the help that's the way to do it. Hell I'll work for a fine KK meal anytime. Charles - Prometheus 16.5", Cassiopeia 19" TT

Nah we're just playing - we are definitely not getting another KK. Two is more than sufficient for our 3 person family. . Right now Mrs skreef is frantically trying to get me to fill up the garden space so I don't get the idea to pull the trigger on a Fornetto wood fired oven. Oh wait I already have that idea running around in my head. I just think "she needs" a dedicated wood fired oven - LOL Charles - Prometheus 16.5", Cassiopeia 19" TT

I use mine mainly as a diffuser and to catch grease so it doesn't go down into the KK. Charles - Prometheus 16.5", Cassiopeia 19" TT

You better watch out for Aashni. She is going to fall in love with that KK and want one of her own. Turn away Rak - LOL Charles - Prometheus 16.5", Cassiopeia 19" TT

I'll agree with@churchi double bottom drip pan all the way. I use mine as a deflector/drip pan way more than the standard deflector and separate drip pan. Charles - Prometheus 16.5", Cassiopeia 19" TT

Kewl, so your going to get your own KK just for baking? What size and color are you looking at? LOL . . . See how that works - LOL Charles - Prometheus 16.5", Cassiopeia 19" TT

Get on with it. Now is the right time to start. Even if you just do a few planters or buckets you'll be glad you did. Charles - Prometheus 16.5", Cassiopeia 19" TT

The CoffeeChar lump is really good lump. I wish I would have ordered a whole bunch when I had the chance. . I don't like Cocochar. Yes it has no flavor profile but once heated to a certain point it gets really brittle and will disintegrate into powder if you look at it sideways (okay exaggerated a little). If you had two lump baskets, one for only Cocochar it would be manageable but I only have one lump basket so I rarely use it. I have a few boxes in the shed that will probably be there for the next 10 years unless I give them away. Sorry Cocochar fans .......... It is what it is .... Jez you didn't have to guess it so quickly - LOL. Small 125 gallon pond with a 8 gallon water fall. Sunk down into the ground with matching flag stones all around. . Mrs skreef has had ponds in the past but this will be my first. Should be interesting. Charles - Prometheus 16.5", Cassiopeia 19" TT
