  1. asbestos accusations I got: amosite |?am??s?t| noun an iron-rich amphibole asbestos, mined in South Africa. ORIGIN early 20th cent.: from the initial letters of A sbestos M ines o f S outh Africa + -ite 1 .
  2. Re: How big is the cooking area of an OTB? It's just a lil' bigger in actual area but dramatically bigger ergonomically When one looks into a 22" round Kamado turns around and looks into an OTB the immediate impression is that the OTB is 15-20% larger... An unplanned optical illusion?
  3. absolutely asinine i'd say it's fairly open but not censorship free. (my amosite observation has disappeared and the AH letter of cert hasn't appeared yet) I'm sorry that thread was deleted because of all the anti RJ and Kamado comments through out it. People always seem to assume it was state sponsored. I personally think one would have to be absolutely ignorant to believe that HW uses asbestos. True to his character it was absolutely asinine (and ignorant) for RJ to claim this.. I just called the director of HW and he said he would fax over the letter immediately. Nuf Said.
  4. Here you go FM to replace your coral gem Earth tones.. The SP and PAD series are matte finish.. not gloss glaze. I'm going to order the two PAD ones.. I really like them. PAD - 132 PAD - 135 SP-342 28mmx28mm SP-320 28mmx28mm SP-351 28mmx28mm SP-397 28mmx28mm IS-7-GL MIX-2 MIX-3
  5. Sure happy to do it.. Sure, I think it's time I do a photo essay that shows the top easily being removed and then the bottom being picked up using the harness.
  6. We ain't uptight commercially. Just a note that John asked me if it was ok if I post on this forum letting my readers know that he now offer adapters for the Komodo "blower" port. I told him please feel free to post anything you like here.. even shamelessly self promote.. It's an truly open forum So if you got a great product tell us about it... We ain't uptight commercially.
  7. The Magic of Magestic! In general I hate flashing on a website... But I like the changing colors up top.. Even had to sit through the series It's not distracting or screaming sale or anything so I guess it's informative.. Yah.. an educational flash.. Thanks for the magic Mike
  8. Damn 10,000 people! What can I say? Welcome aboard, honored to have you here. I'm sure that you will be a great source of information for the group. Do you remember any of the consumption figures? i.e. 3,000 chickens, 15,000 sausages etc? Glad to have you here.. We obviously did not know exactly what we were Missing Sorry just had to
  9. Re: ladder legs Yes, collapsable... Do you remember where you saw it? Or where I could track down a photo of it? Thanks again all for the help..
  10. Time to get off my .... Procrastination is my eternal enemy.. Time to bite that bullet, change the website to HTML and fill a couple of pages with informative photos.. And let's not forget I also need bite the grenade and redo the pricing page.. Ok guys consider it done...
  11. Great.. Thanks... Great.. Thanks guys.. Is this instant customer feedback great or what? I was unhappy using a round upper grill.. Just not sexy enough in the OTB. The utility was there but sometimes just life calls for more than utility So I asked them to make a template for the jig and when I saw it I said... Whoa Nelly! That's way too big and they said but it's 18" and I said.. I don't care how big it is, it's too big and I knew it was time to bring the forum into use and take this to vote. So of course.. I'll be dancing the victory jig later Ok round two.. I'm going to put longer legs on it and handles on top.. I'm going to make it small enough to stand on the firebox at lower grill level or be able to set it handle side down to use in down low and hot to sear.. Does that get votes, cheers and high fives?
  12. Ok guys.. I need your input here.. I've always shipped out 18" round upper grills. They work just fine but would have more visual UMPH if they were the OTB shape.. Here is a shot of a plywood template sitting on a round upper grill. Do you guys think this size is too large? Just right? I'm considering making it smaller and then it can be used down below for a sear grill also.. dual use.. Thanks in advance for sharing your wealth of experience
  13. Samantha is correct.. The hole can be driled out.. It needs to be larger for the lower pressured Natural gas.
  14. Knock down and move in two pieces... Your cooker is designed to be broken down very easily... Remove the stainless cover and then loosen and remove the large bolt that is at the bottom of the hinge's spring with the supplied 19mm socket wrench. Next you want to pull out the cotter pin from the left side of the hinges pivot shaft. Now tap out the shaft... the top half is now free of the lower.. your Classic top half weighs 43kgs (96lbs) and although heavy is manageable. The lower half weighs 115kg (253lbs) and comes with a blue nylon rope harness that can be used to pick it up either with 5cm X 10cm wood boards (2"x4") or by hand. I always recommend using a refrigerator dolly that has canvas straps when possible..
  15. Thank you for all your kind email of concern about the tsunami in Java. Fortunately I'm on the other side of the island and considering there are 90 million people on this island the area hit was not too populated...
  16. Re: tan tile It was sold on eBay this weekend
  17. I'm also looking for the ideal setup.. I want a L coming out to a quick release connected to the hose.. Problem being is that everything here is metric.. but I really don't want my customers to have to run around so I'll probably end up shipping them here paying tax on them just to ship them back.. Murphy's Law prevails
  18. Most definitely still shipping to Orlando
  19. The University of Georgia: Outdoor Barbecuing for Small and Large Groups Too Much Information is ok here.. http://tinyurl.com/h97x4
  20. This is Blue (JRE R 047 Z) I added some new colors on the inventory page of the website also..
  21. I like it! I like it! That's going to take some thinking
  22. Claiming ignorance.. Claiming ignorance.. I never read any of this
  23. Drying the cookers The two layer refractory and insulation material still hold about a gallon per half after they have air dried. The vacuum kiln removes this water. The body is wet with water and adhesive with a paint brush before the mortar is applied for better adhesion. The mortar of course is mixed with adhesive which is water based as is the grout. Heating the cooker with the gas burner does dry them both. Common sense would dictate that it's best to try to remove this moisture before I soak/seal the grout with water and stain proof sealer.. Possibly trapping it in.. I know too much thought
  24. This might be cool.. any other ideas? I'm looking for a font that I can cut out with the CNC to the left and right of the lower latch thru the strip and then filled with grout.. This might be cool.. any other ideas? Thanks for all your help.. BTW.. We just found your top today in the storage room.. I thought it went out weeks ago.. Total brain fart.. It's now on the water.. You can have it no charge...
