Re: Meat hanger I agree 100% and pulled them off the price list and discontinued them long ago. This was mostly because I began installing the rotisserie sleeves. Anything a meat hanger can do the rotisserie can do better!

Prime Rib.. That prime rib looks great... I've never cooked one.. Question, Why are they always tied up?

Guru port I was sent samples from Fred at Guru.. The same guy makes them up for us. I guess there is always a chance someone was asleep at the wheel and the specs changed... I'll check it out... Two more days and I'm back full time.

KK How-To (Please post your suggestions here for a Q&A!)
DennisLinkletter replied to inacoma's topic in KK 411
But the good news is that it's an easy fix. Hello Rory, Good to hear your up and cooking... When you press down on the handle does it move down at all? If so your latch is not adjusted properly.. This can happen from the gasket being a bit compressed or just less than adequate quality control on my end.. oops sorry. But the good news is that it's an easy fix. The latch has two adjustment notches. Loosen the two nuts and tap it down a lil bit, then retighten them a bit. The first notch should just catch when the top is firmly closed. From that point you will need to push down on the handle and push in the latch to pull the top down tight.. Always push down when you want to open the cooker.. Dennis -
Guru plug removal Just tap it out with a screwdriver.. it's the soft insulating material with covered with grout for cosmetic purposes. Dennis

Here is a shot of the prototype of my new gas burner draft door with dial in low airflow control. Light your charcoal with the gas burner, leave it in and still have great airflow control... What will I think of next?

Sorry about the surprise slap. Yikes... My guess is that the harbor charges there must be per BOL as opposed to charged by value of item. And of course duty varies dramatically to and from country to country. I'd love to know what the actual breakdown breakdown was. I import lots of items here and sometimes really get burned.. Sorry about the surprise slap.. If you pro rate it over years it comes down to pennies a day.. Once again, I'm sorry about the unexpected charges..

Murphy attacks again... Woke up Thursday morning in Los Angeles at the grandparents house only to read about the UK terorist arrests... I was supposed to fly that day to San Fransisco to stay with my momma in Palo Alto. Local news shots showed the National Guard that was deployed by Gov Arnold and lines into the street. When told to go to the airport 3 hours before the flight, I decided to pass... Standing that long in line with a baby and child to maybe catch an one hour flight was not my idea of a good time. I tossed the tickets and rented a big new Ford SUV and drove.. Exactly 6 hours. With full coverage insurance, a baby seat and one way drop off fees, it was still only $118 from Enterprise.. Not bad I thought.. -

Forum help on NEW OTB Upper grill design
DennisLinkletter replied to DennisLinkletter's topic in KK Features & Accessories
Re: Too Big Hey Tony if you turn your firebox a bit you can easily find a position that does not rock.. But your right it can rock on that outside rib if set at 12 and 6 o'clock.. An actual grill is being made.. enough plywood.. It will have handles to permit easy moving.. my guess is that it's easier to take it off.. do what you need to do below and then put it back.. Are you really going to be flipping meat under it? -
Forum help on NEW OTB Upper grill design

New Upper Grill.. Good Size? Here is the new charcoal basket with 5" tall heat deflector/ sear grill supports (they are now 4") This is the size down low on top of the above mentioned basket.. That'll be searing hot... This is for perspective on how large the grill is sitting on the main grill... This is on a 5" can with almost 6" in wheels sitting on top... There was plenty of room above it.. the wood tipped over when I put it on the edge -

ASBESTOS CLAIMS FOR $4 BILLION New York Times July 30,2006 http://tinyurl.com/lmtne COMPANY NEWS; HALLIBURTON SETTLES ASBESTOS CLAIMS FOR $4 BILLION The Halliburton Company, the world's No. 2 oil field services company, said yesterday that it would pay $4 billion in cash and stock to resolve 300,000 asbestos-related personal injury lawsuits in one of the largest settlements ever. The plan was announced in a bankruptcy court case in Pittsburgh involving a former Halliburton subsidiary, Harbison-Walker Refractories Inc. The difference here is that refractory designers/engineers can produce their product without the offending material... the tobacco industry is stuck with tobacco/nicotine... I will admit to being a bit sensitive to the issue... It has been the proverbial thorn in my ass.. and I guess you wiggled it a little and I barked a bit, for this I apologize... By monday, I will have the letter and can put this to rest for good.

Re: absolutely asinine I stand by the ignorant to believe that HW uses asbestos statement. Do your homework and you will see that HW spent millions in asbestos lawsuits over the years. For them to continue down that road would be unthinkable.. So yes ignorant about asbestos and HW. (Do a google search on the topic) The asinine part was directed at RJ only.. I respect and applaud your and Kooky's due dilligence and I will be sooo happy to put this BS to rest

asbestos accusations I got: amosite |?am??s?t| noun an iron-rich amphibole asbestos, mined in South Africa. ORIGIN early 20th cent.: from the initial letters of A sbestos M ines o f S outh Africa + -ite 1 .

Re: How big is the cooking area of an OTB? It's just a lil' bigger in actual area but dramatically bigger ergonomically When one looks into a 22" round Kamado turns around and looks into an OTB the immediate impression is that the OTB is 15-20% larger... An unplanned optical illusion?
-
absolutely asinine i'd say it's fairly open but not censorship free. (my amosite observation has disappeared and the AH letter of cert hasn't appeared yet) I'm sorry that thread was deleted because of all the anti RJ and Kamado comments through out it. People always seem to assume it was state sponsored. I personally think one would have to be absolutely ignorant to believe that HW uses asbestos. True to his character it was absolutely asinine (and ignorant) for RJ to claim this.. I just called the director of HW and he said he would fax over the letter immediately. Nuf Said.
