  1. Here's a peek at what's coming before I get it up in the store..
  2. rewiring a 40 lb motor I talked to Joe himself and he said he is rewiring a 40 lb motor they have to spin the correct direction for KK owners. He said the 50 lb motor that spins the correct direction works great on KK grills but they overheat on metal grills. The battery powered ones are not 50 lbs and work just fine so the 40 lb should be fine.
  3. Re: Argh.. Malicious code took down the forum... When I get a bit caught up with my life and work from the over two months I was on the road in both the States and Thailand, I will be migrating this forum over to a much more stable and sophisticated platform vBulletin. According to what I've read online ( ) the transfer should bring everything except passwords and logs. Some url's will also need to be redirected. So we will a all need to go thru the password reissue dance via email. In the mean time, if you are having issues with the forum, please clear your cache.. it helps with all things php. Please excuse the site being down all weekend..and loosing the last 11 days, I've put back most of my posts. I'll get The Charred and Scruffed post later today..
  4. Happy Labor day to all.. September marks the 10th anniversary of KK.. I had the guys in the factory in August 2003 but took delivery of Harbinson Walker materials first week of September.. Time flies is an understatement. If there is anything I can do to help you get cooking on a KK please feel free to give me a call. ;)
  5. Argh.. Malicious code took down the forum... Suddenly I was unable to log into the forum.. when we sent to install the backed up copies they were all corrupt with malicious code.. The latest non corrupt database was Aug 30th.. So sorry to say we lost the last 11 days. I have daily backup service off the server now and have the most advanced protection.
  6. Argh despite having top notch security using Sitelock.com Determined hackers entered the site thru my other site HandHewnFloors.com that was on the same server and unsecured. Alarms were set off by some of the malicious code they were slipping into the site. In the last few weeks, it got so bad that every time I changed pages I would be logged off. I could not post or sometimes even browse the forum. Next they next locked me out of the admin side and I had to contact DJ to use his username and access.. Argh and double Argh.. We have moved unsecured HandHewnFloors.com off the server and they are removing the malicious code which they say is very cutting edge and sophisticated.. not some amateur messing with me. As far as I know I have no unhappy customers.. I have no real competition.. So who's messing with me? LOL
  7. Re: New 19.5 Li'l Isla This 19.5 table top prototype has already been sent off to the mold makers.. From there everything will progress quickly because all the metalwork from the existing lil' lsla is the same and ready to go.. Here she is with her new sorta brutish high capacity lid. It's design was borrowed from the hi capacity lid of the Big Bad 32. I'm really excited about this grill.. being able to stack it above the other grills brings the shipping cost way down.
  8. Re: Buying decision help requested! n67508 For grilling only 2-6 steaks you don't have to light of the whole charcoal basket. You can decide to use only one half or one quarter basket.. The stainless sheet also effectively shuts off the airflow on the one side which doubles the airflow on the other side. Airflow of course it how temps are controlled. It also creates a two zone cooking area which is popular with some.. An unexpected benefit for me is that it's now easy to leave your hand/arm down in the grill, trust me at 650º dome it's raging hot down below the lip ... even with up to your elbows welding gloves on it's challenging to stay down there for extended periods.. I turn the basket so the splitter is pointing to 2 and 8 o'clock and the fire is to the left and back. This is ideal for a right handed person to reach into the grill and play with their food..

  12. More like survival training than a holiday.. After the wedding/renewing our vows we jumped in the car and drove east.. Hit Palm desert and it was 117º and 40% humidity.. Took the long road thru Needles which was 122º Hottest in 7 years.. Got into Las Vegas and it was 115º Walking the 150+ yards between the bigger hotels was challenging to say the least. Took the road by Hoover dam to Williams for the night and then to the south rim of the Grand Canyon.. Spent the day and walked the top part of Bright Angel Trail... Argh.. Going down was easy Then off to Page AZ and into Antelope Canyon.. It looked just like Nat Geo.. Will post photos later.. Continued up to Grand Junction and ate at Famous Dave's BBQ... I'm sure he's a great chief but the food at his place was a joke.. Bought 6oz of burnt ends for $9 that was cubed.. and had not bark! Had not even reached 190 to become stringy. My son was very proud that my Q was SOO much better.. Finally pulled into Vail and met up with a good friend.. ate great food, drank better wine and had a great time. Finally had to drive down the hill to Denver to drop the rental car.. Was a bit surprised when my milage total came to 2166 miles.. yes I had an unlimited plan.. Flew to Orange County airport in Newport and then drove up to Montecito and finally was able to stop and rest for a few days.. Went to a family reunion in Oxnard on the way back to Laguna where I went to my 35th High school reunion.. Trying to figure out how we are going to get all the stuff we have acquired this last month back to Indo.. I'm flying out Monday night.. Been a great trip but I feel like I've been to war.. Thank you all for your patience and less than stellar communications with me recently.. I'll be available on a regular basis again soon..
  13. Re: Re-Newed my Vows and on a US Road-trip If this is a holiday I need to get home and back to work to get some sleep! After the wedding we went to Palm Springs (it was 117º) then up thru Needles on the back two land roads to Las Vegas.. Spend a could days there battling the heat.. Took the kids to Cirque du Soliel's Mystere.. the original one Still great after all these years.. Then off to Hoover dam thru Williams and up into the Grand Canyon.. My hotel's internet was out so I was parking outside another hotel in the middle of the night hi jacking their Wifi signal finally made a deal with the hotel next door.. Then off to Antelope Canyon.. Yup right out of a National Geo mag.. Great shots will post later, I'm soo tired I can't see straight..
  14. Sai and I never had a proper wedding and she constantly reminded me over the last 14 years.. I finally caved in and gave her the ceremony with the white dress she always wanted on the beach at Crystal Cove beach between Newport and Laguna. Sai was the most beautiful a bride I've ever seen.. I'm a lucky man.. ;)
  15. Re: New KK owner in Ottawa, Canada I've decided to continue to produce the standing 19.5" but only ship/stock one or two at a time and of course they will still be available as a custom order.. The High Capacity 19.5" Table Top is at the mold makers right now. It has the same much larger lid like the 32" KK.
  16. Re: Tower of Steak I love that the standard cut is about 3" thick... Nothing is more depressing than when butchers cut up all their inventory 1" thick.. Happens all the time here in Indo.. ARGH!
  17. Re: Coming to the States, on Holiday with Family Argh and double Argh.. Murphy's law prevails. We always use Isla's Thai passport while traveling in Asia. We went to the airport last Friday at 6am only to discover that her US passport had expired. We rushed to the US embassy and was able to have an emergency passport issued on the spot. (1.5 hour service ~ needless to say I'm well known here We flew out on the Sunday morning flight.. could have been a LOT worse. Really frustrating but that's life.. We're in Laguna with family..
  18. It's June 14th and I'm flying to the States with my family, I will not be online as much as I'd like to be in the next weeks. Please bear with me if it takes a day or so to get a reply. I will get back to you as soon as humanly possible..
  19. Re: Square pizza stone for bread? Argh.. Square stone? Sounds like I need to make a new mould so I can make a stone like the 32" grills new stone that takes up all the upper grill.. But I do think the round 17" stone does completely fill the upper left to right.. So it would give about 2" more territory front to rear and in the (missing) corners
  20. Re: Bacon Taco? Actually never heard of Dukes.. Probably new or an east coast thing..
  21. Re: Bacon Taco? You ruined it with the damn miracle whip. Everyone knows you have to use Best Foods / Helmans!
  22. Re: New KK Site is up and running.. Have not named them yet but just loaded over 100 tile close-ups into that gallery..
  23. Re: Everyday Misc Cooking Photos w/ details Last time I asked my German butcher for a shoulder he asked if I had ever tried neck.. I bought a few, low and slow-ed them to 190º then pulled them.. They actually had marbling and were nicer texture and more moist than most butts /shoulders I've cooked.. they were not as thick as a butt but plenty thick..
  24. Re: Doing my part I can't begin to tell you how much I appreciate customers posting in relevant cooking and BBQ forums and leaving KK's URL in the post. It REALLY helps get me back up on Google's search pages which is how new people find me. One really needs to have some posting history before posting with URLs.. Once again thank you.. Would also like to send a big THANK YOU to Syzygies for all his KK posts on baking forums.. So if you belong to BQ ing forums please make KK related posts from time to time.. THANKS VERY BIG
