  1. I appreciate the detailed review. I have not placed an order for anything yet. Been still debating what I need and what I do not need. The only reason I would go with the Pro version to reach the higher temps is to leave the proves in the steak while searing a steak. I have through about this endlessly and I think I'm going with the basic Firebird 2 Drive. If I sear a steak over the coals I'll just wing it. I can figure it out over time without the need for a thermometer to finish it. I was considering the less powerful fan after reading the recommendation to close the port so much. I will take your recommendation and go with the smaller one.
  2. I do in fact live in the great state of Wisconsin. Not too far from Green Bay. I am stoked to get it!
  3. Great questions! As a soon to be owner of a BB32 I'm looking forward to hearing others input. I plan to smoke my first ever brisket on my KK once I get it. I have so much to learn!
  4. Does a KK ever crack due to moisture retention and expansion when it gets cold?
  5. I look forward to the pics and hearing how the results are.
  6. Must've been his first cook or close to it with the chicken. You can see the lid is pretty dark int he last pic. What is under the bacon?
  7. I appreciate the detailed explanation. Very helpful. Do you wish you would've went with a 32 to be between the 42 and the 23 that you are eyeing If I recall, you originally ordered a 32, right? (Sorry for a little sidetrack to the OP)
  8. He has me thinking.... The folks on here are not helping my with spending
  9. I need one of these! Can you please share a few more pictures? I’m going to see if a friend of mine can fabricate it for me. Thanks in advance!
  10. Way cool man! Truly a game changer from the initial impressions. I bet it has been an exciting journey for you and your company.
  11. Are the cold smokers a pain in the ass to keep lit or what? I ordered one with my new KK. I'm curious to see how it actually works. I've read mixed reviews.
  12. Regarding the limited ports on the Pro, couldn't you get another food probe and run three food probes and eliminate the ambient probe? Specifically for short cooks/grilling when you are not using the Guru. Close the damper 25%, 50%,....?
  13. That’s what I’m going to do. Thanks! I have a 32 so I’ll go with the same setup as you. How do you like the Pro with the Type K? Regret not getting the Drive with more ports?
  14. I'm in the market for a multi-port thermometer that I can add a blower to in the future. I am leaning towards the Firebird 2 Pro. (I have a vision issue and the large print on the FIreboard 2 is very helpful.) My question is how does the Fireboard Drive connect to the KK? I don't see they offer a "port hole" connection option. If the Fireboard Drive doesn't interface with the KK then I'll reconsider the ThermoWorks Signals + Billows. Any info you can share would be much appreciated. Thanks! Any info you can share would be much appreciated. Thanks!
  15. How would you put a bunch of deboned chicken thighs in a cradle to make Shawarma? Instead, I thought I could put them on a spit and then secure that in the cradle. Am I off base? I ordered the cradle and not the spit so I'm pondering how I can make it work in a variety of situations. I thought I'd ask to see what others have done.
  16. A bit off topic but I thought I'd ask anyways. I bought the Rotisserie Cradle and was curious if I could use a spit and clamp it in the cradle? I bought it thinking it would be the most versatile compared to the spit. Just curious how those of you with the cradle use it with meats on a spit. Thanks!
  17. Is that the baking stone or the heat diffusers? Or is the baking stone for the 42 two pieces?
  18. Very nice! Be sure to post some pics of the KK in action
  19. I get it. I like forums as well. Been a long time forum browsers for all of my hobbies. I’ve just noticed many communities switching to FB. Just want to ensure we capture KK owners from all angles.
  20. Looks awesome! Should've taken some pictures of the grill in action!
  21. Of course
  22. Happy Thanksgiving everyone. I told my family that all of the major holiday's are at our house next year so I can use my KK
  23. Is there a Facebook page for Komodo Kamado Owners? If not, why? I would assume it's a small minority of KK owners who visit this forum. We could probably amass a larger community on FB. I know, FB is a POS company and unethical. I totally get it. However, as far as connecting folks who have similar interests it does a fairly good job. I'm not suggesting it as a replacement but rather a compliment to the forum. Let me know your thoughts.
  24. I wish I would've known the pebble was better for pizza before I placed my order for square tiles.
  25. Fan is about 650 CFM. I get it. Grilling outside in bitter cold weather is borderline moronic. However, if I could shelter in my garage a bit it would be tolerable. I may just have to concede and wait until spring to place the grill outside. I think the 32 is too big to move in and out of the garage.
