Pale Rider
I can't help but notice the resemblance. "I don't usually cook on ceramic, but when I do, it's a Komodo Kamado. Poochie, I love it! I used that line the other day in a completely different context, though I cannot help but think that The World's Most Interesting Man® would just about always cook on ceramic, no? Poochie
Glad you took it the way I meant it. Just a joke.

tony b
Awesome! See you loaded up on coffee wood and cocochar - smart! Curious why you went with the gas option? Most of us here didn't.
bryan
I use my Gas burner for cheese, super super low cooks, and cold smoking. I don't post about these cooks because I don't need all the why it can't be dids. For me it's an individual sport like fishing.
Pale Rider
Awesome! See you loaded up on coffee wood and cocochar - smart! Curious why you went with the gas option? Most of us here didn't. Actually, Dennis suggested it is a nice option to have; I was in a "no need" frame of mind. I have the slide-in gas [LP] starter on my RJK7, and there were times when it was very handy. I also have a Looflighter and a Wagner heat gun for starting the charcoal. Where my KK will be located, I will have the option of NG as well. It's all about options. And as I learned long ago, if I think I may want a feature, I get it when it's available, not in the future when I might want it and discover to my regret. I may never actually use the option, but you never know. And in that situation, I try to cover my bases.
Poochie
Way to go, Pale Rider. I received my email today too about it being shipped out soon. I know you're as pumped as I am!
tony b
Good plan, PR! If Dennis told you to get one, it's golden advice. He won't steer you wrong just to make an extra buck!!
Pale Rider
Had a lot going on today, and I was slightly hampered by the absence of an owner's manual, so uncrating was a slow process. I actually thought I was only getting charcoal today, so when the beast rolled on to the truck lift gate, it was like Christmas. When the crate first appeared, I swear the olive & gold pebble finish looked like a velociraptor was inside. We need to find Taz a temporary home away from the (hard) water sprinklers, until his permanent place by the pool is finished. More to come.
ckreef
Very nice - with that very first peak inside the crate you know you made the right Decision.

CeramicChef
Pale - CONGRATS! That's one gorgeous KKBB? You're going to love cooking on it and you're really going to love the food that you cook on your BB! Pay attention to SWMBO! Don't do any really hi temp cooks, i.e. >400°, until you do a high temp burn in to set the tiles in the elastomeric grout. PM me with your email address and I'll see about sending you a copy of my owners' manual. Again, congrats!
