  1. I built this shelter for my KK and offset trailer to shelter them but, that idea became a shadow of the past as my desired area became a thought for my wife's new propane fire pit. Now don't worry gentlemen, as soon as the weather changes I'll move those heavy BBQ pieces into position and all will be complete, done, written and composed, never to be repeated or moved, almost certain, you now what I mean, just be sure she's out shopping when you do the deed. Well, I've seen so many nice structures built and posted here I thought my small whimzical rendition may apply in it's setting for consideration as a thought. The structure and floor took two weeks to build and came in at around 1K and it took that long because I'm older than the wood I was laying down. The forested background and distance from the house said, "make it simple." I do believe it's a nice spot to toss a few back, thought of Steve as I remember he liked the afternoon cordial so much. Now to Steve and too all the others that have spent so much to get there areas together and make the journey, your show pieces are magnificent..........I'd have done the same except for two reasons.......that woulda taken 6 weeks of WORK,,,,,,,,,,,,, and besides will be moving to Florida sometime soon enough?

  2. As you are well aware anything with moving the Queen off her throne must be handled "delicately" as the WW of the West once said. The plans are afoot as we speak my dear Watson but please let me sit back in my chair and ponder on that awhile. In due time my pretty, in due time

  3. You know being a reserved species that I am, I'd take that bet, unfortunately overworked on various projects have left me incapacitated,my back ooooh my back. It would have killed a lesser man. Any time limit?

  4. The grill arrived at about 2 pm. I got it uncrated and basically put together and in place. Then work called and off to a special project I had to go. So much for my 1/2 day off work. Anyway I snapped a couple sneak preview pictures. Will do a proper thread later this weekend. Lined with firebricks. The grate moves up and down with a lever/wheel arrangement. You can see the handle for the lever in the bottom left corner. Has a side brasero (firebox) and a warming/storage area (middle handle). Just the right size for me and Mrs skreef and the limited guests we might have. Full length cover.

  5. Congrats on the grill. Let's ahhh balance the scale here. Truck vs grill, let's check all angles on this particular presentation...........yep, just as I suspected. Your wife has the key and you got holding a bag of coal. Now it's not over yet, there's room for negotiation, handsome grill but it won't get you to the store as long as she holds the key. If you can get that key maybe on a Saturday, well it's a start. The things we do for love. I don't think we have a rope long enough. Make mine Med/rare

  6. Excuses, excuses. I thought I was safe with "anytime soon". If I were your wife I would hold out at least until the autumn. By then I could reasonably be judged to have won the bet.

  7. The plan is to move all that stuff, bring in cookers and one chair and leave me with the cooler. It's a mission and a plan I'll undertake as soon as the time is ripe...under cover darkness. Oh ya Bruce, plenty of room, 11'6" x 11'6", with room to expand if the need arises.

  8. CK, that is what I was thinking a little side addition would be great for the KK.

  9. If you're not willing to kick your wife out of the shelter to make room for the KK then a small addition out the side would do the trick.

  11. Good looking set up and the cover is a great bonus. Looking carefully at the grill bars I think they have missed a trick and that you may want to rectify it with a DIY solution if/when Mrs skreef lets you near the cheque book again. One of the awesome advantages of an Argentinian grill is the way the v shaped grill bars collect fat and drain it into a removable box gutter that runs along the front of the grill bars. That really cuts flare ups and makes it a great grill for cooking hot and fast or even low (in this case raised high above the coals) and slow. I'd hate you to miss out on that feature.

  12. @Tyrus, your shelter is whimsical indeed. Good to see your Coca Cola cooler making an appearance too. I hate to bring everything back to money but I would be prepared wager a princely sum that you won't be moving your smoker or any other form of BBQ into that space anytime soon.

  13. When I sang the song to Mrs skreef she came up with her own version. "You're going to have fun, fun, fun till your wife takes the checkbook away......" LOL

  16. As a kid on a family camping trip, I fashioned a slingshot, and went foraging in the woods for suitable projectiles. I found an inexhaustible supply of perfectly formed pellets. I was briefly chagrined when my Dad identified them. If memory serves me right, though, I kept using them. The traditional diet of hare in the south of France (where it is now 45 C) is wild-grown Herbes de Provence. They would be spectacular in a pellet smoker.

  18. I’m glad I don’t drink coffee never have and probably never will, if it tasted as good as it smells maybe. Give me a diet coke or Pepsi any day it’s the nectar of the Gods. And I bet a coke machine would be a lot cheaper lol. In reality I hardly drink either anymore I prefer water as my beverage of choice.

  19. You won't believe the challenges I have faced with trying to get hold of lumberjack pellets. The UK supplier only had one variety in the end, beech, and all other suppliers wanted lots and lots of money to ship to the UK. I then remembered that The Husband was going to be in NYC this week so we checked with his hotel and they were fine to receive a parcel. I got these nice people to send their seven variety sampler pack of 1lb bags: https://www.bbqpelletsonline.com/index.php/products/buy-individual-bags/Lumber-Jack-1-Pound-Variety-Pack-7-varieties-Free-Shipping-p69201136 Happy days. Will now have to figure out how to rig up the smoker.

  21. Nice relaxing area I like your komodo Kamado sign and the American flags. But I don’t see a lot of room for your KK and equipment? Nicely done.

  23. I bought it from BBQguys. Not the manufacturer page but has links to a couple kewl videos. It really is the right size for us and the price was doable for a every now and then kind of grill. Fit and finish had a few minor issues. Obviously not KK quality but not bad for being a low end Argentine style grill. https://www.bbqguys.com/nuke/delta-argentinian-style-gaucho-grill-delta02

  24. So I picked up my new grill just after 1.30pm from the warehouse. Was a decent sized depot so I didn't have to back up the trailer...phew. strapped it down then headed back towards Gympie where I'll be staying for the night. Weather forecast for tomorrow is showers, so I packed in a Tarpaulin to cover my precious cargo. Early rise tomorrow so I can get home. It's been a long day.

  26. Now c'mon, y'all. BBQ () and coffee go together like bread and butter. Y'all have gone the extra mile to own the finest of grills (some of you crazies own MORE than one KK...guilty as charged!). Why would you settle for swill () in your cup?? Just sayin'...

  27. I feel so inadequate with my $150 espresso machine especially after checking the price of the DE1PRO..... Eeeekkk......... But that's okay after I add a shot of Jameson, Kahlua and Baileys who can tell the difference anyway. Besides how else does one drink espresso?

  28. I like to think of it not as being anal, but putting your geek credentials on display for all to see. I mean...coffee waveforms...how Geeky Cool is that? I can design my own flow profiles and test the results in the cup. The recovering fluid dynamicist in me is downright giddy.

  29. This is so funny. I am not sure whether it would be a good or a bad idea to show The Husband this thread. When the commercial coffee man came to plumb in my husband's coffee set up, they got into a conversation about extraction rates. Apparently, when they started discussing fractions of seconds my husband said "I'm not anal about it or anything". The coffee man looked at husband, looked at kit and said, "that ship has sailed". I don't know what will happen if I show him this thread. He might be happy to find someone more obsessed than him or, oh no, he may try to fit even more kit into his coffee corner!!
