  1. My wife went to Whole Foods here yesterday (found chicken, but no TP -- a partial win!). The checkout person told her they've been opening an hour early at 7 AM ONLY for elderly to shop first. When the doors open to the general public at 8, they see all the hoarders flood in to raid the shelves that were restocked overnight. Their response is to restock throughout the day to give others a chance. Very interesting. It's just like war. Measure: hoarders (the enemy) flood the gates at open. Countermeasure: stores keep stock low at open to deny hoarders. Anticipating the next step: Counter-Countermeasure: hoarders stop by multiple times per day to determine whether there is a pattern to restocking times. Counter by stores: randomize restocking to eliminate any detectable pattern, similar to frequency hopping radios. Could even go spread-spectrum by frequently stocking just a few items at a time. repeat repeat Soon stores will be using TP false targets -- projecting holograms of bundles of TP to attract the hoarders. Can even use TP-Gate Pull-Off techniques -- the TP hologram moves just ahead of anyone reaching for it, and gradually walks them out the door, denying them their prize.

  2. Aussie, I went to the store yesterday explicitly for a whole chicken. One chicken so I could cut it in half and hang it in the new smoker for a test run. Wouldn't you know it not a bird to be found, not even a picture of one. So then I said, lets go to the butcher, what the heck...they specialize in meat. Back into the car and across town, 5 miles in the opposite direction. I get there and what do you think...it's a corona virus convention, the stores packed to the gills and guess what, all the chickens are cut into parts. I bought some wings and a good bottle of cheap wine. There's gotta a moral to this somewhere, I know, when your down on your luck, and you can't find a cluck,,,,throw your hands in the air and say what the F.................k. Think I'll hunker down, eat some wings, watch some reruns of All in the Family, Archie in his chair and me in mine. You do know who Archie is don't you, hope so..the world isn't that small

  6. It’s a truly sad indictment on our societies when self preservation mode kicks in and this selfish behaviour is exposed. I thought our greater community was better than this. I was thinking a small water leak into their garage where the TP is being hoarded, but power outage for the freezer knuckleheads will work! [emoji23] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  7. Don't be a meathead! Thankfully there's still some good folks out there, doing the right thing! Not only trying to fill a needed gap, but they are GIVING IT AWAY!!! I know the owners and they are great people! Love giving them my business. https://www.thegazette.com/subject/news/health/swisher-distillery-cedar-ridge-turns-alcohol-into-hand-sanitizer-in-wake-of-covid-19-strains-supplies-20200317

  10. Rainy today, so probably no grilling out tonight, but I did get to last evening. Chicken Shawarma on the menu. Chicken was pre-marinated from Trader Joes. On a 325F grill, direct, with cherry wood chunk. Plated up with a cuke & red pepper relish and tahini sauce, Bibb lettuce for the wrap, and a side of curry rice.

  13. Thank goodness there's still some folks out there that really care about their communities. https://www.thegazette.com/subject/news/health/swisher-distillery-cedar-ridge-turns-alcohol-into-hand-sanitizer-in-wake-of-covid-19-strains-supplies-20200317 I've known the owners for many years and go out of my way to support their business. Trying to support the local restaurants and breweries, too, but it's like triage, picking/choosing winners/losers - it's frustrating! Oh, btw - Happy First Day of Spring, everyone! In all the craziness, almost forgot what day it was!

  15. Did OK at the local supermarket today, but they'd been hit hard yesterday, according to the folks working there. Many employees were out in the store re-stocking some items. Meat counter was a little thin, but most things were to be had. Unfortunately, in parallel, they'd run a sale on the thicker cut pork chops that I like, so naturally they were out! I had to settle for the regular cut ones - I'll survive! Soup and pasta shelves were hit hard, but the good imported Italian pasta was plentiful, which is all that I buy anymore. No paper products, but I didn't need any. Liquid hand soap was sparse, but there was plenty of bar soap - what's with folks? Liquor/beer/wine department hardly looked fazed - woo, hoo! The real adventure will be tomorrow when I hit up CostCo and Trader Joes. Will be interesting to see how hard they've been hit.

  16. With all this Beer Virus talk there has been a crazy run on Toilet paper in the middle Georgia region. In the eight closest Walmarts to my house there is not a single roll of toilet paper to be found and no hand sanitizers and when the toilet paper ran out they started going for the baby wipes. Food was plentiful. I guess having a clean rear end is a bit more important than stocking up on food .............

  22. Good luck with that. Your best bet is to ride out in the country. Those little stores out in the middle of nowhere are still stocked. I guess they haven't herd the news about a new virus going around.

  25. I've got 2 batches of beer in process right now, plus a couple more that I still have a couple of gallons of left, so I'm good for at least a month! LOL! I'm pretty good on TP for a while, but thanks anyway, Aussie!

  28. Interestingly, there’s a run on chicken here. Can’t find chicken anywhere. Lots of beef and pork. At least folks will be eating healthy through the apocalypse.

  29. Ckreef - same thing in Birmingham Alabama, no toilet paper to be found. However, our local Piggly Wiggly has plenty of meat! It’s within walking distance of the house and they have one of the best selections of meat IMHO. Its good to see someone else that’s shops at “The Pig”.

  36. Balsamic Vinegar from The Winery at Holy Cross Abbey in Colorado. We have been using this vinegar for years, it is better than anything we been able to source from grocery stores or the oil and vinegar shops. I use it for salads, dressings, brushing on veggies prior to grilling, the sweetness is great for a tomato salad with a mild cheese. Put it on your ice cream. If you like a nice balsamic you might want to give this a try. https://abbeywinery.com I

  37. Tony that’s unreal. I sent this on to my mate with the Lord Byron Distillery. Talking to a commercial cleaner yesterday, said hand sanitiser has gone from $4 up to $25 for 750ml in the last 2 weeks. I went into the pharmacy next door and sure enough, no hand sanitiser, no vitamin C. He went into his supplier yesterday and there was a bidding war for bulk liquid sanitiser. 2 x 1m3. I’m guessing it’s about 2 tubs of 100 gal. $17,000 each. Ridiculous. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  38. @Tyrus no worries by chance I git this random package in the mail the sane day my KK was delivered and I hadn’t found the thermometer box yet so I wasn’t sure what you were referring to. I still don’t know what the heck this “xtreme ceramic clear coat” is or why it was sent to me I also had a few emails/calls in to Dennis and team about the thermometer, missing the cover and the grout work that were not answered due to this crazy corona virus situation I’m sure so I was utterly confused for a minute this is the product that got sent to me....
