  1. roasting coffee is fun, and i guess worth while if you are roasting like a kilo. this time with help from fireboard pro. the thing with this setup is you can't really hear the cracks due the thick concrete walls of the kk and the noisy motor. Brazil Natural 250g in 207g out. Columbia Washed 250g in 208g out. Ethopia Sidamo 250g in 208g out.

  2. I'll never forget a commercial for Ginsu knives where the spokesman was bragging about how sharp they were. He said you could slice a tomato so thin that it only had one side. I ain't kidding.

  6. I agree with tekobo. a 32" is a two-person job. empty everything out except the firebox to reduce the weight. Secure the ramp Dennis provides to the pallet so it does not slide away as you roll it down.

  7. Welcome @Caroline. I think someone has reported unpacking his 32 on his own but said it was difficult to do so. Do you need to move it at all or is it already close to the final location? I would suggest that you need at least one other person and possibly two. Just lifting off the crate needs two people given the size of the 32 and having someone to work with you to steady the beast as you roll it off the pallet is essential. Good luck and don't rush this critical phase!

  10. I just splurged on this Nigara Hamono raindrop Damascus gyuto with custom handle, from RealSharpKnife.com - highly recommended. Considering that my birthday splurge last April was a 32 KK, this wasn’t too bad.

  12. Yesterday afternoon it was a seafood casserole with 1lb shrimp, 1lb bay scallops and 2lbs Cod slathered in a creamy buttery sauce, topped with a bread crumb cover and cooked with a chunk of cherry out on the 23. I used the small locking basket with one chunk of wood fitting it over the fire while using the basket splitter. I used my stainless diffuser plate to accomplish an indirect and a workable temp of 375/400. Perfect, the smoke you get off the KK imparted into your food can't be duplicated at even your high end restaurants in a casserole. So there it is and unfortunately there it goes also because all that remained after the guests left was this small plate, I managed to capture it on film before it disappeared too.

  19. The members of this forum have some incredible cooking talent. Milling your own grain, homemade curry, different pizza and bread cooks. I used to think I could cook...and I've owned a cafe before...but you youngsters put me to shame. Beautiful food on display here.

  21. i have a fireboard 2 pro. i chose this mainly for the large easy to read screen and the use of an external fans with guru ports. but for probes, i prefer thermoworks probes, they are much better quality than fireboard. avoid fireboard accessories. mostly garbage.
