  1. Is it ok to post this at the guru site? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. You can simply put chunks into you coals before adding food, but what often happens is that the fire burns in a different direction than the wood. You'll find when cooking on a kk that very little coal is used, which means there really isn't much fire at all, so your food gets less smoke flavor than a stick burner will give you. The cast iron pot is what I have gone to. A two quart cast iron Dutch oven with three 1/16" holes drilled in the bottom, put your chunks in the pot, the pot directly into the fire. This gives a good, clean smoke profile. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

  4. Here's the important part of the episode. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  5. I can't remember who broadcast the show, I think it was PBS, but Franklin did all three methods at the same time, compared and discussed the results. The timing on all three was reasonably close, and you guessed it, paper was approximately in the middle. I've done paper with good results, but in the end, the simplicity of naked wins for me every time. The last time I used foil was simply to hold in an ice chest, and that still softened the bark enough to annoy me. Again, nice job Shuly!! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

  7. That's exactly what it is! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. A simple giveaway in this instance is you'll never see external bands or lifting pistons on a kk. The shape of the lid and top vent is different, and I've never heard of tiles just falling off a kk. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

  11. Richard Johnson posk. Spend what you think a flower pot is worth. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  12. Like I said...inganeerin escapes me often, that's why I ask questions. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. I are a geologist, so inganeerin escaped me quite a bit. The foil will effectively block more heat than the stone? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  14. If you're set on trying something different, the flameboss 300 has good reviews. I have cyberq..it just works. I'm not sure any of them are waterproof though. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  15. How does it control temp? I don't see a fan at all, only temperature monitoring. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  16. Anything is possible, but I'm stumped as to how a firebox is damaged. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  17. I also noticed a non kk grate under the top grate, so it'll be interesting to see the inside. Still, atv$1200.00, all the parts could be replaced and you'd still have a great grill. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  18. If I'm seeing the last picture correctly, the hinge pin is missing. If this is so, I'm surprised the lid hasn't fallen off! I can't see the spring, was the lid heavy? Did it stay up by itself? If I'm correct, be very careful with the lid what ever you do, whether you're just inspecting or moving the grill. These parts will have to be replaced immediately. If you can look at it again, simply remove the grates and see if there's a stainless basket in the bottom. If no, that's likely what's missing, or take a photo of the deep interior and post it here. Parts are available, and $1200.00 is pretty cheap. It never hurts to make an offer though. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  19. Go for it. I do suggest you thoroughly heat soak your grill before you put everything on, but otherwise, fill er up! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  20. If you have to do any spring adjustments, will you be able to access it? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  21. That's great tony, but why don't you just get some oyster shells from down south? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  22. With true caller, you do have to manually update the spam list, and you do have to manually block numbers. Over a relatively short period of time, spam calls have gone down dramatically. I guess it's up to the individual to decide which is best, $2.00/month for automatic, or manual for free. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  23. Don't see any. I take that back, there's one that scrolls across the bottom, but it doesn't hinder the usage. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  24. It is. Like I said it's completely free, and works pretty well. I've seen others, but anything with as good or better rating is a free app, but a subscription service. Mr number and hiya are completely free, but I think the true caller is better rated. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  25. You should try truecaller. It's free, and blocks most unwanted calls. If you get one, you block and report it, and that's the end. It works really nicely. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
