  1. Sanny, I'm not sure if you missed FM's reference, if so, look here, as counselor, you should find it an intriguing read!! BTW, nice one F monkey!! Yes, I know. But he said "Thompson." I said "Johnson."
  2. I dont have any middle bars on any of my grates, and I have all three:? And see how much easier they are to clean?
  3. Part of the problem you experienced from The Other Manufacturer, Johnnyboy, was getting banned from the forum for suggesting you were having problems with the cooker, AND trouble with customer service. Some nerve you have! None of that here, of course. And we don't even have to drink the Kool-Aid to say that!

    PIZZA SET UP

Oh my. Our Whizzy has instructions for EVERYTHING! Nuther set up that someone on here suggested to me, and it has worked well, is a heat deflector from the mfg of your cooker, and then four little piles of washers, then a pizza stone. That keeps the pizza stone from being the deflector from the fire, and allows some air circulation around the pie. I've used the pizza stone up on the upper grill, in the dome. Seems to let the toppings get finished nicely.

    PIZZA SET UP

My opinion - stone isn't pre-heated long enough. Granted, an oven is not as hot as a KK, but usually "they" say preheat for an hour before using pizza stone in oven. But what do I know?
  6. Beer, then. The BEER would slip into a groove and tip over, making a mess. Oh, the waste!!!
  7. The bbq sauce bottle would fall into the groove and tip over, crashing to the ground, making a turrible mess.
  8. Re: Any shape or material side table. Thank you.. I'm sorry I don't understand the "no changes in that area of the KK in future models?" question... I THINK, but not sure, that Trish is saying you made such a great design, and lots of tweaking. Now are you going to leave the design of future KKs the same in that area, so the tables will keep fitting and you won't have to keep tweaking the tables? Of course, my babelfish could be on the blink, causing me not to translate properly from the original Trish to the Dennis... It happens...
  9. Oh my goodness! And on my favorite tile choice, too!
  10. disclaimer? And now for the fine print... The statements made on this thread regarding modification of anything are not those of the owner of the company, or any of the innocent bystanders on the forum! lol So, if you or anyone else blows up, we didn't do it or advocate it!
  11. Welcome!! Delighted to have you here with us. I think you chose well. We have TLinder in Switzerland, so you have a relatively close Komodo owner. Ok, so maybe you won't be inviting each other over for dessert, but he's closer than those of us in the US or in Australia! Some of us here have had The Other Manufacturer's ceramic cooker (you mentioned a K7). Some of us still do. (I have a K5.) Not all experiences were negative with The Other Manufacturer, but you'll find a WAY more positive experience here (in my opinion). And we're more fun.
  12. Temptation isn't what's required! I need a willing buyer of Another Manufacturer's Product, and a small inheritance.
  13. Hey, Bob! So much cooking! You buy a new belt yet? :::giggle::: One down side of KK ownership.
  14. I'm cookin chana dal (indian lentil-like beans) and rice. Not for any picnic, but for lunches for the week. I'm so exhausted from planting the front porch with flowers, and planting in the yard, and mowing, and more planting, and scrubbing porch and porch furniture, that there's no WAY I'm gonna do Q. Just me and the stovetop for dal. About as much energy as I can summon. It's a shame, really...
  15. Mustard slather Cook's Country (not my favorite iteration of the Cook's Illustrated franchise) has a recipe for mustard slathered butt in the June/July 2008 issue. Looks like a good one.
  16. Be careful giving away your ideas; you might open it one day and find someone living in it!!! That's where the gas attachment comes in handy. Fire it up and WHOOSH! Out pops the "resident."
  17. Ooooh! See? Already I have my various holes mixed up. Not a good sign.
  18. Check the boards here, but I think you'll find that it's just a plug of something not even the same material as your new cooker. Screwdriver pops it out. BEFORE LISTENING TO ME (or reading my post as Gospel), search the board. I don't have one, so it's all second/third hand. Try these posts - on some, Dennis weighed in. http://www.komodokamado.com/forum/viewt ... river+plug http://www.komodokamado.com/forum/viewt ... river+plug http://www.komodokamado.com/forum/viewt ... river+plug
  19. You gonna lift it by yourself? Tuck it under your arm to go to your photo shoots? lol
