  1. If you don't have the long handle Allen wrench get a ball end 5mm Allen head wrench. The ball end allows you to easily come in at an angle with the long side. You might have to use a pair of pliers to help turn the short side. My 16.5" didn't come with the long handle Allen wrench. Fortunately I had a ball end 5mm Allen wrench in the tool box. 2. You both are right. This method is a quick sear and the KK never got to heat soak status. Then when you put in the diffuser that sucks up a bunch of heat. This is a really easy no brainer method for doing a forward sear followed by a low-n-slow. I am now a fan of forward sears whether done on a single KK or across multiple KK's. Forward sears just gives you more control of the final IT compared to a reverse sear. Charles - Prometheus 16.5", Cassiopeia 19" TT
  3. Fill it up every time all the way to the basket handles. The unused will be waiting for your next cook. Charles - Prometheus 16.5", Cassiopeia 19" TT
  4. Sorry about your epic failure but we've all had them. Sucks when there is guests involved. No worries just invite them over for a redue. If they don't want to come I'll show up to try the redue. I have what I consider a failure weekly. It's all a learning curve. But I do think you learned. Next time forget the gasser. KK would have been more controllable. 5. Still need to check mine - maybe later today. Charles - Prometheus 16.5", Cassiopeia 19" TT
  6. One really great chunk of meat. Can't wait to see some pictures of it sliced up. Charles - Prometheus 16.5", Cassiopeia 19" TT
  7. Very nice can't wait to see some cooks on your KK. Charles - Prometheus 16.5", Cassiopeia 19" TT
  8. bosco - Dennis would much prefer people post directly to the forum and not through 3rd party hosting companies (he's mentioned this before). On forums when people use 3rd party picture hosting, if anything happens to that account pictures are lost and then the forum has holes in it where pictures should be. Picture holes really suck in a forum. Charles - Prometheus 16.5", Cassiopeia 19" TT
  9. Here is a post with pictures of removing the dome from a 19", including pictures and detailed instructions. You should have a helper. This procedure takes less than 10 minutes. All the different sizes are the same. If you have issues putting the spring cover back on let me know as I've also done this on a 23" which is a little trickier to get the spring plate on. http://www.komodokamadoforum.com/index.php?/topic/6003-Removing-19"-Dome Charles - Prometheus 16.5", Cassiopeia 19" TT
  10. Truth be told IG is the reason for this format. Charles - Prometheus 16.5", Cassiopeia 19" TT
  11. That is one fine looking breakfast sandwich. Sure glad you're not in the Guru challenges - LOL Charles - Prometheus 16.5", Cassiopeia 19" TT
  12. Yup like the bigger Reef's Bistro plus it gives me more room for the bottom line. Now that I have this setup it only takes me a couple of minutes to swap out the pictures and wording. Going to start doing all my really good cooks this way. I'll still post all the normal pictures but will also include one like this. Charles - Prometheus 16.5", Cassiopeia 19" TT
  13. It's Friday - tick tock, tick tock - LOL Charles - Prometheus 16.5", Cassiopeia 19" TT
  14. I need to get a better rice cooker. I have a cheapie, really small, electric one. Does great for cooking rice but really to small for one pot meals. Charles - Prometheus 16.5", Cassiopeia 19" TT
  15. Looks tasty. I could do the blackened chicken just not sure if my other family members could handle it. Charles - Prometheus 16.5", Cassiopeia 19" TT
  16. Great looking cooks, great looking KK, and the fence/wall behind it is the perfect back drop. . Charles - Prometheus 16.5", Cassiopeia 19" TT
  17. What about this one? Charles - Prometheus 16.5", Cassiopeia 19" TT
  18. Sounds to me like it's time for a second KK - LOL Charles - Prometheus 16.5", Cassiopeia 19" TT
  19. I'm getting it more refined. I like the round picture in the upper right (better than rectangular) but that really depends on the picture. In the future I'll take a correct picture to show the KK in a round format. I also changed the very bottom font to look more like the KK font. My fonts are limited in this app but it's close. Charles - Prometheus 16.5", Cassiopeia 19" TT
  20. Yummy. Just curious, I see you started them off on the KK but finished them off in the oven. Why not finish them off in the KK as getting it from 325* to the finishing 350* would only take moments. Charles - Prometheus 16.5", Cassiopeia 19" TT
  21. I just can stop myself - don't really want to stop either. Charles - Prometheus 16.5", Cassiopeia 19" TT
  22. That looks really fantastic. How do you like the salt block? I've been thinking about getting one lately. Charles - Prometheus 16.5", Cassiopeia 19" TT

Winter finally came to central GA. It's gotten down to 28*-30* the last couple of nights. When will these crappy temps end? Charles - Prometheus 16.5", Cassiopeia 19" TT
