  1. Welcome to the forum and congrats on the new grill. Lots of good advice already. I expect with the new grill, you're already motivated to read up on this style of cooking. You really can cook just about anything well on the kk. Most of the typical grill fare can be cooked over direct heat (nothing between the meat and the flames), lots of bbq responds well to indirect heat (some sort of deflector between the flames and the meat) and some things are great using a combination of both at different stages of the cook. If you want to spend a day on a nice slow indirect cook, pulled pork with a boston butt or pork shoulder is very forgiving. It isn't easy to screw it up and the results are amazing. Throw out a couple ideas for a cook and I'm sure you'll get a lot of responses.
  2. That sure looks good. Never smoked my own bacon before but it is on the list. I'm curious how the "presmoke" method compares to just putting on the smoker for the duration.
  3. You're right. I didn't really appreciate the need for a second kk until a recent brisket cook when I wanted to cook a pot of beans, some mac and cheese, and some corn bread; all at higher temps. I moved 2 out of the 3 to my pellet grill but felt I was missing some of the flavor I would have gotten from the kk. I keep telling myself it is all in my head but not sure how much longer the denial will last Looking forward to your combo cooks
  4. Wowzer, congratulations! They look great together!

  6. Looks really tasty Aussie
  7. Awesome, I look forward to seeing the 22" in action.
  8. Normally I would say hurry up and post pictures but I can wait until after the angiogram
  9. That is one good looking burger!
  10. It looks pretty dang good to me. I bet near 450 is the sweet spot.
  11. What Mackenzie said. Looks delicious
  12. Not to mention identical. I expect the kk version uses a bit better steel.
  13. This is on a light tower about 30 miles off the southeast coast of North Carolina. These used to be run by the Coast Guard just like lighthouses and now a lot of them are in private hands. There are people on the light tower riding out the hurricane and they have a webcam. Frying Pan Light
  14. Funny, I have both of those in my cabinet but haven't tried them and didn't even notice they were numbered: 1547 and 1835. My neighbor has a family connection through them and he gave me a bunch of different ones. He also told me the owner has a kk; I think it is the 32.
  15. My advice is to drink heavily.
  16. I have to say you made it look delicious.
  17. Looks great. Nothing better than fresh hot bread
  18. I really like the cabinet/kk combo as well. Obviously a well built cabinet to support all that weight.

I would use the coco char if you have it. I had my kk going this weekend for nearly 24 hours and didn't use half the basket. You can get your smoke flavors from the smoke pot. As far as the size of the chunks, I knock 2 of them together and they generally will break into 3 sections which seems about right.
  20. Thanks, you can never have too many pork sources
