The harsh reality, TNW... ... is that your site has no forum so Curly can't start any sh*t on it. All those charcoal reviews just won't take the bait. Besides, you've got a great reputation, and no one feels compelled to warn the general populace of your wickedness.

I didn't even know there was a second page in the inventory photos until you posted these and I went off hunting for them. Gotta admit, that charcoal gray textured with the SS is very artsy. Wouldn't have thought it would look so good. I guess it's the small bright spots of SS that really set it off... sort of an industrial minimalist look. Also found these photos over there: http://homepage.mac.com/komodokamado/.P ... 202/K-.jpg http://homepage.mac.com/komodokamado/.P ... 02/L98.jpg Since that page is labeled "forum photos," what post(s) discussed these? TIA

Got to use my Father's Day present overnight to cook a butt and a brisket for my dad. It took a while to get the hang of it. Documentation leaves something to be desired but that's all. There's no description of how to mount the fan and of course, I ended up mounting it upside down. That's a real no-no and my temps were rapidly climbing out of control. Fortunately TNW's site saved the day or we would have had Big Macs for lunch. I also kept disassociating the grill probe from the temp control while playing with all the buttons. That's another good way to burn up a meal. After a couple of hours of screwing around, I figured out what I was doing, and became confident it was working as advertised. I'll need someone to explain how to access and use the setback function which was mentioned once in the manual but never explained. TNW, feel free to spill your guts if you know. Butt was great. Brisket was mediocre but had been buried in a freezer for 4 years. Bacon wrapped water melon rind was great. ABT's on the half shell, prepared with honey nut cream cheese, and cooked indirect were good. Molten gouda, an old favorite with my kids, was happily rediscovered. All in all, a good weekend with family and my new toy. But if anyone else gets a Stoker, I would advise not cooking so many things on the maiden run.

A hose clamp AND duct tape???!!! In the repair kits they sell to owners so they can repair their cookers with the lifetime guarantee??? http://www.kamado.com/Repair%20&%20Main ... HTC-01.pdf Sir! You ask too much! Can't you see they already include shipping AND handling in the price??? It seems customer service and warranty support are BACK.

I have bittersweet memories of busting up a K. They have chicken wire embedded throughout. According to Dennis, the kk also has it's fair share of chicken wire.

Very cool that you posted. It's beautiful. Do you like the latching/dome opening mechanism?

Hey Firemonkey If you check with the manufacturer of that grill, he'll tell you the damage is due to your failure to seal the grout, and all the freezing weather you get in Orlando. But you're in luck. I see an opportunity... in a year or two, you'll have a nice little pile of tiles that you can use to make a new avatar and to communicate your concerns with the Kompany. Of course, with a #5, you'll have to keep your sentences short.

Hey!! What's going on the grill this weekend, ya'll???

Gonna plunge my Stoker in a butt (and a brisket) to celebrate Father's Day. Probably gonna ABT some too. There was mention of something new (at least to me) on the green forum earlier this week: preserved (like in a jar) dates, stuffed with ricotta, wrapped in bacon, and heavily peppered. Of course, around here, I'll probably have to improvise: prunes, stuffed with cheese whiz and smeared with lard. But pepper we've got. -
Re: Spatchcocking The Naked Whiz Wow, with traffic like that, it seems that it would be very wise for all the ceramic cooker manufacturers to send you their best cookers in the hope you'll review them. Anyway, congrats on the notoriety. And we'll be able to say we knew you when.
-
Keep the ramp. You'll need it when you sell your kk to me for $300.
-
I don't recall a John_G I'm Gerard in all these forums.

Yeah, I know all that, Mr. Whiz. But details sure can ruin a good rant.

First off, I don't blame anyone for looking to say positive things about a relatively new company that we are all rooting for and I know no one recalls electing me defender of this forum's integrity. But here's what I hope for this forum: I hope that Dennis' business practices never reduce it to a band of sycophants that struggle daily to post meaningless praise. The respectable companies do not have forums filled with gleeful fans who rejoice when the company answers the phone, responds to an email, ships a doodad, delivers a cooker, doesn't charge a credit card until an item is shipped, or ships a bag of unlabeled powder so they can happily repair their broken cooker with the lifetime guarantee. The fans at BGE, Primo, and Grill Dome expect to be treated properly and are not compelled to announce whenever they are treated appropriately. Combined with a policy that precludes dissatisfied OWNERS from posting their concerns, boot licking toadies make a wonderful cover for fraudulent business. I know Dennis shares my hope for the forum. I just hope I learn to stop offending people before he kicks me off of it. Obnoxiously filled with self righteous indignation, I am, Gerard

Crap, this is the third time I'm gonna have to apologize for the same offense... I guess I ought to make it part of my signature: I'm sorry I came across as a jerk. I didn't mean to offend but I've got a history of making an ass out of myself here. But this apology made me realize that I really do have an agenda... which I'll try to explain in a couple of hours when I've got the time to word it properly. Anyway, sorry. I need to pay attention to how I come across.
-
Awww... come on BillyG, make Dennis earn it. Don't dish out the kudos till you get your cooker. Hell, all of these manufacturer's are real easy to send money to In fact, if you would like me to demonstrate, send me a moneygram... I'll dazzle you with my CS.

I don't know what to say... other than you worry me. Actually I wish I were in your shoes awaiting a kk but I would be the little bald kid by the mailbox.

The floor's that beat up and they haven't even moved in??? j/k very nice.

http://homepage.mac.com/komodokamado/.P ... erardw.jpg Just remembered, I had asked Dennis to change that photo to eliminate a psychodelic background. Guess he labeled it with my name then. Dennis, is that a JRE 40? If not, what is it? Also: The kk in that photo has a high grout/tile ratio... different than the other photos we've seen lately. And there's a lot of grout above and below the tiles... not just on the sides. I thought ya'll weren't doing that. Or does it vary considerably with whomever the tileman is? Keeping Dennis on his toes... Gerard

Nice repair job, Mike. Glad the ABTs were a success. Very few stores in the Chattanooga area ever carry pickled watermelon rind. I finally found a consistent supply at the Fresh Market, which I believe is a chain. I bet in the upscale area that you're in, you'll find a couple of stores if you keep looking. Do you have any fancy farmer's markets around there? I could find just about anything at the ones in the Atlanta area.

Good to see you found your way over here, C~W.

Re: Edit & Delete?? Going? As in - still ongoing? As in - you're not there yet? But you're right. I love the edit feature. I often edit stuff two or three times in the first five minutes it's posted... and sometimes it's just not there... ticks me off. Sometimes I have to delete badly written stuff just to make it presentable.

Happy Birthday. I too celebrated that same anniversary about 6 months ago. Seems this particular anniversary marks the year your body turns to crap, or at least in my case it did. But on the bright side, my doctors definitely have the spare cash to get a kk. Sorry in advance for you.

I'm gonna be an engineer when this is all done Thanks for the answer, Drunk_J. Learned a new word today... acme threads. But aren't acme threads inherently bad? Acme products usually led to the coyote's demise.

Wow, Dennis, thanks for the very thorough answer to my original question. Seems my questions keep you on your toes and make your write essays for answers. Glad you learned something in the process and that your product may improve because of it... just never expected you to have to run through your factory with a magnet. BTW, I recall my defunct cooker's SS failing the magnet test. I wonder if your competitor has improved their steel since. Perhaps some readers can go perform a magnet test and report back. I have an engineering question follow up though... Your photos comparing your damper top assembly with your competitor's are very impressive: http://upload4.postimage.org/154006/photo_hosting.html But some folks on the other forum, discussing possible solutions to their cooker's problems with the bolt and nut of their dampers rusting seem to authoritatively dismiss the notion of a stainless assembly as being very prone to seizing: http://www.kamado.com/discus/messages/3 ... #POST45184 Assuming they know squat... and they do seem to speak authoritatively, is your unit not prone to SS on SS seizing (if such a thing exists)? Or are yours exempt from this phenomenon because they are machined with such robust deep wide threads? Or are those folks full of hot air? Have you had any reports of your damper tops becoming tough to turn? Have they truly proved to be maintenance free? Drunk_J, feel free to chime in here... it's good to have our own resident expert. Once again, TIA.
