MacKenzie Posted September 1, 2017 Report Posted September 1, 2017 Some no cook treats this morning, ground cherries. I gathered these up this morning on my early rounds of the garden. Quote

MacKenzie Posted September 1, 2017 Report Posted September 1, 2017 They are sweet when ripe and sort of mild tasting. They only look like cherries they do not taste as cherries nor are they as strong tasting. Very easy to grow, they pop up every year and they grow on a plant not a tree. Quote
MacKenzie Posted September 1, 2017 Report Posted September 1, 2017 (edited) Another very special breakfast today, I am on a roll. Smoked peach jam made by our own ckreef. This jam is made from KK roasted peaches and as soon as you open the jar you get a wonderful peach smell. Beautiful colour and nice size peach chunks. Extra tasty jam. Special breakfast is plated for this pix. Back on the griddle and a little flip and plated for the final time. I just had to turn this into a ck egg. Thanks again for the wonderful tastes. Awesome looking breakfast. I'm really glad you're enjoying the Reef Jams. It makes me smile I knew you would appreciate them for the effort that goes into making jam. I'll be honest I'm looking forward to next spring so I can improve the Reef Jams just a little more. Stay tuned. 1 Quote
Pequod Posted September 4, 2017 Report Posted September 4, 2017 Papa Del's inspired (NOT Chicago style) deep dish. A little more work to do on the crust, but the sauce is now spot on. 4 Quote

Chicago style is biscuit like crust with uncooked sauce. Papa Del's is a much thicker bread-like crust with a cooked sauce and roughly double the toppings. 1 1 Quote
MacKenzie Posted September 7, 2017 Report Posted September 7, 2017 Nothing new here today but I did do another sour dough loaf of bread with toasted sunflower and pumpkin seeds. I used the Digi Q again it just works so well to get the whole KK to 450F. 2 Quote
MacKenzie Posted September 7, 2017 Report Posted September 7, 2017 Start up the little KK to grill some Halloumi cheese for lunch. Done, doesn't take too long. The cheese was to go with a chicken thigh sandwich. The thighs were grilled the other day and I also made a fresh batch of sauerkraut salad. Just look at the nooks and grannies of this store bought bread. 2 Quote
tony b Posted September 7, 2017 Report Posted September 7, 2017 Nice sammy! But that grilled halloumi cheese looks awesome! 1 Quote
MacKenzie Posted September 8, 2017 Report Posted September 8, 2017 (edited) Thanks, Tony, it is pretty tasty and salty so it leaves you thirty. I guess that's what beer is for. I'm visiting my brew-master friend tomorrow, that should be tasty. Edited September 8, 2017 by MacKenzie 1 Quote

MacKenzie Posted September 9, 2017 Report Posted September 9, 2017 Fri. I went on a day trip to get some special meat and beer. Came back with both and a combination of the two. The meat market had beer bacon, the beer was an IPA made by my brew-master friend so I just had to try that.:) This was tasty breakfast, ck peach jam, purple crack and beer bacon. 3 Quote
