  1. I'd like to introduce my new slow cooker, it held the temp perfectly for the 4 hour cook of my Slow Cooker Campfire Potatoes. https://www.themagicalslowcooker.com/slow-cooker-campfire-potatoes/ My first time making these but not my last, Here's my slow cooker just approaching the 300F mark. Campfire potatoes on the grill. 4 hours later and no peeking. Plated. Veggies from last summer's garden.

  2. I got a new position at work which keeps me really busy so I've only done limited grilling lately and not much time on the forums. I swore off buying new grills so I couldn't do that again but I never said anything about a new truck. Me and Mrs skreef wanted to get a bigger trailer (a 5th wheel) and our Nissan Titan was not going to cut it. Back in January I started looking around for a HD truck. Ended up doing a factory order of a Ram. From order date to dealer delivery was about 11 weeks. Here she is: Ram 3500 6.4 Hemi, 4x4 crew cab, short bed Laramie lv1, towing technology package, bed utility package, and 5th wheel/gooseneck prep GVWR 11,000 Max Towing 14,525 CCC 4025 GCWR 21,500

  3. Very nice truck Charles! Guess the 5th wheel mobile home will be next lol! My daughter wanted a pet so she bought herself a Great Dane puppy. Alas they grow very fast so she bought a pickup truck to haul him around! The things we do for our pet friends lol

  4. Thanks everyone. The new position at work has really dampened my grilling (get home to late now). That and we've put all our effort in the new truck purchase and a new 5th wheel trailer we're picking up this weekend. Hopefully later this summer life will get back to a normal pace. On another front both me and Mrs skreef got our second vaccine shot yesterday

  5. So, 1st cook with my "cheapo" Trombo King vertical spit. Chicken Shawarma from Trader Joes. I used the double drip pan. Main grate, 325F for an hour before starting to slice. Started slicing off about every 20 minutes. All done. Flour tortillas (purchased!), tzatziki sauce, tomatoes and red onions. Side salad. Crazy Hazy IPA from a local brewery. Close up. Easy, peasy cook. Soaking the vertical spit in PBW. Left the drip pan in the KK to cool off. It will get soaked likewise today. Next up - the Al Pastor tacos!!

  6. Good trick - find something more expensive to buy first. I'm on to you. This is just a precursor to convincing Mrs S that a 42 is not too expensive after all. That said, beautiful truck. I love the idea of being able to chuck things in the back of a truck and go. Congratulations.

  7. Ckreef they put that steering wheel on the wrong side. Do you think they can fix that? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  8. I'm very excited to join this elite community! @C6Bill - Are there many other KK owners in this part of the country? Maybe we can set up a southern New England KK owners group. @MacKenzie - Yes I do. Also, hard-working and full of surprises. She was outside with me for a couple of hours on Sunday helping to clean the Fire Magic. When I started buying Japanese knives a couple of years ago she embraced the change and now uses nothing but. I'm a lucky guy. 😁

  10. I wish they would put "Dodge" on the front instead of "Ram" - much more appropriate for incoming traffic!

  11. @tekoboi had to slightly bend the handles on my lower grate to make my double drip pan fit. Dennis sent me this video. It was super easy to adjust IMG_6811.MP4

  14. Naaa. I made it sound more complicated than it actually was. I just sat the pan on the grate handles. Cleaned up just fine @tony b using the soak overnight in dishwasher liquid with hot water. Yes, it did take a scrub and some elbow grease. I promise to compare with using PBW next time. Yup, the temperature did drop. I used all charcoal for the chicken cook and filled the whole 32 basket for the very first time. Burned through most of it - unusual for me. When I come to do the suckling pig cook I might go for coco shell briquettes to be sure that the fire lasts for the whole cook. I got in touch with Dennis this morning to ask about the clash between the cradle and the handles of the double drip pan. He talked about tapping the handles slightly to bend them out of the way. I recall someone else talking about that elsewhere on the forum. Will give that a go if I do decide to use the cradle instead of the spit for the pig cook.

  15. You needed worry about ruining any of your cook just because you moving to a KK. Yes, we are famous for spending other peoples' money.

  17. Hi Braindoc, I too ended up buying a BB32 that was a cancelled order and not my first color choice, and it is also still on the ship, bobbing around somewhere in the Pacific . I was originally thinking 21 or 23, but most on here along with Dennis thought a 32 would be the best fit. I'm coming from a Kamado Joe, so I'm hoping that will put me ahead of the learning curve a bit and I don't ruin too many cooks. I've already had a lot of questions answered before I bought mine, so everyone here is quite helpful with questions, and they don't have any problems helping you spend your money either.

  19. Welcome to the Obsession! A big step up from the BGE. You're going to be amazed at the difference in the food coming off the KK. Can't wait to see the pics of it in its new home!

  20. Haha Tekobo, I was reading the rest of that- forgive, love, hug, etc. Not the really loud, but you may be right........ no, I’ll find a place for the dry aging cabinet. A few good steaks later and the fun will come through. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  21. Really beautiful piece of kit @Basher. Good luck with your mission to convince your wife that you were fine to go shopping without the final OK from her. I like the words on your wall. Prepare for a bit of "we do REALLY LOUD".

  22. I have both options Tekobo. There is a 10m hose that I can run to a garden tap if I want to set it up now. The Reno starts in July. I’m a Batchelor this week and although this has been discussed with family, agreement/ approval has not obtained. Forgiveness or divorce are a certainty from here. Maybe I send this photo to my wife while she is enjoying Noosa? In saying that, the cabinet looks pretty slick in person- better than this photo suggests. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  23. So now I know 3 people with hacksaws in their kitchen!...... I shouldn’t be surprised. I’m feeling the pressure to join this privileged club. Especially after finding this delivered onto my front verandah today. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
