  1. After 6 weeks KK free, I've finally managed to get the 32BB into position at our new house... Our movers were great, but the KK caused some serious dramas when the weight of it put their truck off-camber in the narrow laneway access to our garage; resulting in them being stuck fast half way down and having to push it the rest of the way while the guys in the front of the cab had to get out through a window and walk around the block! Wish I'd taken photos. Couldn't get into final position as a section of pool fence had to come out... so this morning had my builder and a few of his crew around to get the pool fence off (and later back on), and then some grunt to get it over a step and some grass. He'd clearly forgotten the mass of the thing and bought some thin plywood sheet which gave way- the morning was saved by a section of steel from the basket splitter which did the job the plywood couldn't. Now in final position, so i can rest easy. Thinking of a porchetta for Easter! Been great checking out all the amazing meals here in the interim, looking forward to getting back in the game... Remi

  2. Oh I am so glad I read this - I thought it was necessary to create the indirect heat area - I will remove my heat deflector and find a lovely use in the garden also. Love this forum - learning so much.

  3. Sounds like you had an adventure getting your KK into position @remi! Welcome back. I know the feeling of being without a KK - it was sooo nice to get back in the saddle.

  5. For smaller pieces like that, I tend to use a flat basket, with adjustable top. https://smile.amazon.com/GrillPro-24785-1-Non-Stick-Rotisserie-Basket/dp/B00PNO2YHU You will need the full-length spit rod from Dennis to make this work, but it's worth it for those cooks like yours.

  6. @Sanny - HEY YOU!! We haven't heard from you in ages. Glad to see that you're still around - alive and kicking! However, I am totally SHOCKED that your Mexi-K is still in one piece and functional. My Indo-K died over 8 years ago. I'm single too, but that doesn't stop me from using the KK several times a week, even if it's just a steak for me (like dinner last night) or a couple of chicken thighs. And you know that pulled pork freezes well, so no excuses there either (I TOTALLY get the inertia reference though - LOL!) Stick around, the current folks on here are just as nice and friendly as "back in the day!"

  7. Temp dial on my KK reads 300: Fireboard reports 185. Fireboard temp probe is wrapped up around the inside bracket of the KK heat probe, near the top of the dome. Ideally, they should be exactly the same, more or less. What's going on? Who do I believe?

  8. Dennis said to finger tighten the top screws then use the bottom smaller screw to "level" the table.

  9. Thank you all for the sourdough pics and comments. As a newbie I am yet to try bread or pizza (in fact I have only cooked steak so far) - had my 32BB for a week but only four days since my first burn/cure. Can't wait to try 'everything' but very interested in bread and pizza recipes too. Thanks so much. I would dearly love to have a recipe for your sour dough breads - plain, seeded, whatever. I think they look amazing!

  10. I use one of these. Works good enough, no electricity. Cost about $6.50. Cheers, Paul

  11. I second the dogfood scoop. I have a small one and it works great. I often don't even need to drag out the shop vac. But, I'm not anal-retentive when it comes to clearing out the ash either; I'm OK with not getting it pristine.

  12. I made a temporary ash scoop by cutting off the bottom of a square-sided 52 ounce plastic juice bottle at a 45° angle. Works great. Still using it after 6 years...

  13. Based on the discoloration around the latch, it’s been this way for a while. What works for me is I adjust the latch such that there’s no movement in the lid when I try to move it in the fully latched position. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
