  1. I think (and it is just a guess given what I've seen here) most people moving up in KK size just keep their original. One can't have too many KKs.
  2. The Alabama brother-in-law was passing through last week so I made dinner for a small family gathering. Started with some corn and mushrooms. Cranked up the KK, added some top sirloin, evo and seasoning, seared the sirloin, let it rest, then sliced (some of it; kept the rest for later). Plated the lot with heirloom tomatoes, loaded mashed potatoes, baguette and some Cabernet. A good time was had by all.
  3. Welcome! I'll let those with experience on the 32 (or live in Australia) answer your specific questions, but I think all of us would agree no matter what your expectations of a Komodo Kamado are from your research, the actual KK you receive will exceed them. It is a terrific cooker.
  4. Dennis, thanks for posting this. Very happy you and yours are safe.
  5. tekobo, has just moved to the top tier of KK members, that's where folks who are instrumental in causing other members to buy more toys go. Congratulations, tekobo. Include me in the KK Shopping Network. Mine arrived a few days ago but I haven't gotten it seasoned yet. One can't really have too many devices. Vices, on the other hand...
  6. Thanks for the research. I am interested in how these work for you.
  7. At the risk of wading into an engineering discussion with a liberal arts degree, it seems to me one of the benefits of the 32 is the split grate configuration. I think it would be nice to have the availability of a split / half grate (either the main, mid or both) accessory for the 23.
  8. I haven't dropped the Allen wrench down the back, but I have (twice on the same day) dropped the Allen bolt and washer there on the 16. GRRR.
  9. We would say "put up" for packing, freezing, or canning food; "put in" for planting the garden.
  10. Wow! However, once you receive it, the import duties will fade away.
  11. Gooseberries and pork? I would not have thought of it. As a kid on the farm, I used to pick gooseberries for my grandmother to make cobblers ("... all the sugar they will take, and a little bit more."), but I hadn't considered them for a sauce for pork. Nor, actually, a blueberry BBQ sauce. This is very interesting...
  12. Welcome, Al. I came to Komodo from Weber Smokey Mountain cookers. Once you go Komodo, you don't go anywhere else.
  13. Okay, "broken my duck". I had to look that one up. This site is doing wonders for my vocabulary... chooks and snags and ducks, oh my.

    Griddle?

@sfdrew28 Let me know what you think about this griddle after you use it a few times. Thanks. Jon

    Griddle?

@sfdrew28 How thick is the griddle plate? I checked their web site but didn't see any specs. This looks like it might be something to provide a use for my outdoor Viking gasser.
  16. I imagine it would depend on what you mean by "fairly long." 100 feet, 100 yards, 1/4 mile? A good attitude, a willingness to help and providing a tip can go a long way.
  17. Actually, waiting a couple of weeks to order the second KK gives another opportunity to obtain more coco charcoal...
  18. I must admit when I first saw your freezer list, I had to stop and consider what was actually being conveyed by the message... We have two Maine Coons and they are not for the pot either.
  19. Aussie, are you making a new hole for the smoker?
