Rak Posted February 14, 2016 Report Posted February 14, 2016 Mr. Twenty Three was hot after a beet roasting session...and scallops sounded good tonight so flames were allowed to lick my cast iron at 550-ish...and a little brown butter provided the lube. Tasty. And since I was bach-ing it tonight...this was a single serving scallops on the KK.jpg scallops...yum!! Where are the beets?
dstr8 Posted February 14, 2016 Report Posted February 14, 2016 ^ Right here. Chocolate Beet Layer Cake.
MacKenzie Posted February 14, 2016 Report Posted February 14, 2016 That is making my mouth water like crazy. Oh my goodness, send me a slice please.
tinyfish Posted February 14, 2016 Report Posted February 14, 2016 Looks great. I have a recipe for a beet cake I will have to try now.
tony b Posted February 14, 2016 Report Posted February 14, 2016 Looks like it could be Red Velvet Cake, my favorite!
tinyfish Posted February 14, 2016 Report Posted February 14, 2016 Ribeye steak and MacKenzie scalloped potatoes. Thanks to MacKenzie for sending me the scalloped potato recipe again...they turned out great.
MacKenzie Posted February 14, 2016 Report Posted February 14, 2016 Oh my goodness, I'm moving in, those ribeyes look totally awesome and your potato scallop ain't bad either.:)
tinyfish Posted February 14, 2016 Report Posted February 14, 2016 Oh my goodness, I'm moving in, those ribeyes look totally awesome and your potato scallop ain't bad either.:) I'm getting pointers from the master...
ckreef Posted February 14, 2016 Report Posted February 14, 2016 Great looking steaks and potatoes. Love your lower grate - now I don't feel bad about my lower grate - LOL Charles - Prometheus 16.5", Cassiopeia 19" TT
MacKenzie Posted February 15, 2016 Report Posted February 15, 2016 I have a lower grate ordered can't wait to get it.
MacKenzie Posted February 15, 2016 Report Posted February 15, 2016 It wasn't too long ago I was getting pointers from you. You know what they say, What goes around comes around.
ckreef Posted February 15, 2016 Report Posted February 15, 2016 I have a lower grate ordered can't wait to get it.It didn't come with it? On both Prometheus and Cassiopeia my upper grate also works as a lower grate. Charles - Prometheus 16.5", Cassiopeia 19" TT
MacKenzie Posted February 15, 2016 Report Posted February 15, 2016 No, the 21 inch came with 2 grates but I should have the third soon:)
tony b Posted February 15, 2016 Report Posted February 15, 2016 Serious looking steaks and spuds, Tony!
MacKenzie Posted February 15, 2016 Report Posted February 15, 2016 Yes, the upper grate can be used as a lower grade but there is one that fits in between.
tinyfish Posted February 15, 2016 Report Posted February 15, 2016 The 23 comes with three grates. I have to see how the upper grate fits in the sear position.
Rak Posted February 15, 2016 Report Posted February 15, 2016 Great cook Tony! I've used my searing grate/upper grate a few times now...perfect fit in both upper and lower positions, just as one would expect!
tony b Posted February 15, 2016 Report Posted February 15, 2016 I use the upper grate as a sear grate on the charcoal basket handles all the time. It's nice having all 3 grates to work with. Good call on ordering the lower grate, MacKenzie. You will like having the extra flexibility it provides.
cschaaf Posted February 26, 2016 Report Posted February 26, 2016 2nd cook - pork tenderloin with pineapple habanero sauce. I was all over the place with this one. The thin tenderloin was way over, but still was pretty good (that's the one plated below). The larger one came out good. My cooking temps were a disaster. I was in too big of a hurry. It'll be nice to spend a day and learn rather than trying to figure it out in the dark with everyone waiting to eat. Here it is plated with some leftover broccoli rice casserole
