MacKenzie Posted June 19, 2017 Report Posted June 19, 2017 The last time I was in the big city shopping I visited my favourite butcher and saw "Billion Dollar" burgers in the show case window. They are a mix of beef and pork and umpteen other ingredients. I just had to try them. First I needed to make buns that would hold the burgers. Did that yesterday. Thought I might just as well have a special breakfast too. The billion dollar burger- On the grill- Searing. Then started putting it together, A round of cheese toasted on the bottom of the bun. Add some lettuce from the deck herb garden. Add the burger to the bottom and some mayo sriracha mix to the toasted top bun. Top with a couple of air fried onion rings. Add the top. It doesn't look that big but trust me it was. I couldn't eat another bite of anything.:) . 8

ckreef Posted June 19, 2017 Report Posted June 19, 2017 Good looking burger. Did it really live up to it's name? 1
MacKenzie Posted June 20, 2017 Author Report Posted June 20, 2017 (edited) It was delicious and I would buy them again. $3.95 per pattie. Seems like a good deal to me if I end up with a billion dollar burger. Edited June 20, 2017 by MacKenzie
skreef Posted June 20, 2017 Report Posted June 20, 2017 I believe I could try to eat it... You got me with the sirracha mayo.. Yummy!! 1

tony b Posted June 20, 2017 Report Posted June 20, 2017 @CeramicChef Fess up, MacKenzie. Did you use your brulee torch on that cheese on the bottom bun, as it looks absolutely perfect!! Or, was it done in the Air Fryer? 1
MacKenzie Posted June 20, 2017 Author Report Posted June 20, 2017 No torch, I used the gas grill in the oven. 1
Shuley Posted June 20, 2017 Report Posted June 20, 2017 Dang. I am seriously regretting my switch at the grocery store today from burgers to shrimp. 1
dstr8 Posted June 21, 2017 Report Posted June 21, 2017 Deelish looking alright @MacKenzie! Can you please elaborate on "air fried onion rings"?
MacKenzie Posted June 21, 2017 Author Report Posted June 21, 2017 (edited) Thanks, dstr.:) The air fryer, yes, I just recently bought a Philip's Avance airfryer, their newest model. Never thought I'd buy one of those things until a good friend told me he ordered one. We usually like the same tools so I researched where to get one in Canada and immediately placed my order. BTW, mine arrived weeks before he got his. Used frozen fries in the fryer, 400F for 10 mins. same for onion rings bought a bag of frozen onion rings(my first ever) 400F for 10 mins and you saw the pix. Awesome, just like deep fried except no added fat. BTW I have always hated frozen fries until now and in the airfryer they turn out perfectly. Please don't take those times as the Time. because I think it may change on the volume of fries you put into the fryer. There is no heat up time, put the rings in set the temp. set the time press start. Done in 10 mins. no smell of oil, no oil to deal with, no safety issues. Can you tell how thrilled I am with this purchase. https://www.williams-sonoma.com/products/philips-avance-airfryer/?cm_src=PIPRecentView Mind you I can't see doing meat/poultry in an airfryer when you have a KK. I seriously doubt you would be as happy with the results. BTW, the onion rings stay crispy for the whole meal and the frozen fries are very crispy too. Edited June 21, 2017 by MacKenzie 2
Bruce Pearson Posted June 21, 2017 Report Posted June 21, 2017 The air fryer does a pretty good job on a steak also.
dstr8 Posted June 21, 2017 Report Posted June 21, 2017 ^ Thanks! Curious to see/hear how potato fries do in the air fryer. But you definitely got my attention
MacKenzie Posted June 21, 2017 Author Report Posted June 21, 2017 dstr, funny, homemade fries are not nearly as good as the frozen ones. Never thought I'd say that. 1
