4. It sure is worth the effort to get use to the rotisserie. I have been thrilled with chicken and with lamb. Lamb video attached. 20201220_181501_02.mp4

 5. Work has been full on all year. So much so that I was kinda jealous of those people who had been furloughed. That said, it was great to have something meaningful to do while the world around us further and further out of our individual control. Visits to our allotment (veg plot) were allowed under our lockdown rules. Looking at these photos make me hopeful for the new year.

 7. @Sir Bill my dad and I both had success treating rotator cuff injuries doing targeted acupuncture over multiple months. My dad didn’t believe in “that stuff” but after getting no relief from traditional medicine for years he tried acupuncture after a few months was almost totally healed. As for the topic at hand I have to admit something to you guys. I’ve been waking up at like 2/3am for the past two months, hence why you see so much activity from me in the 3am-7am PST timeframe. I’m trying to keep to myself and be quiet but I’m filling my time on my phone and this leads to diving deep into the KK forum and weird random Amazon purchases last week I found thread where someone posted about this thing https://smokeware.com/products/trompo-king?_pos=1&_sid=5cadd0589&_ss=r I saw that thing and thought it would be perfect for my Al Pastor/adobada cooks and for my chicken schwarma cooks, it would save me time from cutting meat off the rotisserie so I could actually host people and converse rather than cutting meat every 15 minutes, and save me money from having to buy aluminum trays that I then put over the coals of the KK to catch the meat abs act as an indirect heat shield. This item became my Christmas wish but unfortunately I did not see it until last week so it won’t arrive until 12/30. I will be testing it out as soon as I get it. I’m actually very excited

 8. You're definitely putting it through it's paces. With just the wife and I, I use the 16 way more than I uses the 23.

 9. It's great on Salmon Tony with a light hand. Glad it worked out, I thought a hit man might be paying a visit when you stated, at $28 for 3oz it better be good. I was a Boy Scout, always left out the "trustworthy" when saying the oath. A thousand apologies. Happiness is finding the unexpected, something of a surprise and I'm sure yours are equal to the task

 11. So sanity for us this year has of course been cooking and we have really gotten to know our neighbors. We moved into this house in 2019 and once things warmed up here in St. Louis we had social distanced happy hours in our cul de sac. We were also able to go to Lake Michigan this year which is a family tradition that has been going for about 100 years now. While we were there I brought my golf clubs and played Arcadia Bluffs which is a top 100 golf course. It has some of the same features as Torrey Pines. Troble some of these pictures are similar but this is a lake instead of the ocean but from this height you can’t tell the difference. Wonderful course and my wife got to ride along and she really enjoyed it. We also bought a new Harley last year which has been a great diversion since it’s just the two of us and we can see what we want and stop when we want to. 13. I am loving my 16TT. Yesterday: Scallops for lunch. They could have been prettier but, for some stupid reason, I took advice from the internet and oiled my food and not my grates. Duh! I throttled back the heat and slow cooked some skinny ribs through the afternoon For dinner I cranked up the heat, rested my smoke pot (with apple pellets and loose leaf tea) on the coals in the firebox and smoke-grilled a duck breast for dinner. The cast iron pan meant no flare ups. The 16 did all this with less than a full basket of fuel. It was so easy to commit to barbecuing given the easy clean up and a sensible scale for cooking for two. I am a believer.

 14. Thank you to @Sir Bill for recommending the Netherton Foundry. Their website said they would not deliver any new orders before the new year but they must have been working overtime. These arrived today. They are achingly beautiful and robust and functional. I can't wait to use them. Paella pan with lid on Paella pan Tortilla press The Husband was going to surprise me with the Rapicca gloves but I had already ordered a medium sized pair direct from the company in the US. Just as well. He hadn't paid attention to sizing and had bought an XL pair! We have sold them on to the friend who bought my old 21. I am very happy with the gloves and I have found them very handy(!) in the IDK and ODK.

 18. I would be remiss if I didn’t mention that I’ve quite taken to gardening during the pandemic. I’ve been spending about 10-15 hours a week gardening. I planted a fall/winter garden that I will pick next week and I’ve been slowly replacing some of the landscaping I wasn’t happy with in our project with more colorful succulents that are more my style Along the way I’ve picked up a squatter (Buddha) and I’ve planted 6 different avocado trees, Meyer lemon, lime, tangerine, orange, peach, pink lady apple, lucuma (Peruvian fruit), yellow passion tree, raspberry and boysenberry we have hard compact clay soil so I’ve also been trying to tend to the soil. If you haven’t seen the movie “Kiss the Ground” on Netflix I highly recommend it. Inspired by that movie I’ve been trying to change my soil with different organic matter. I started by going into the canyons by my house abs collecting 40 thirty gallon trash bags of wood chips that the city stacks when they clear for fire prevention. Then I got 40 trash bags of coffee grounds from my neighborhood coffee shop and spread it around the property. Finally I ordered 6 cubic yards of mushroom compost and shoveled it all by myself one day for about 9 straight hours. So now we wait for nature to do it’s thing. also started a worm farm at the house

 19. I got the 17 inch gloves Mac. They didn't appear to have the combination of medium size and 14 inch. I thought the 17 inch arms would be too long but I am very happy with them. I did not go for the small ladies size because I guessed they would be too small.

 20. Hey there troble. Work is a bit difficult to describe. My last official job title was programme director but I now do freelance work for government departments, making stuff happen. I was working on buses and in health when the pandemic struck. Both have been busy and challenging in different ways. Thanks for the compliments about my allotment, I love growing stuff. Asparagus crowns need to be in for about three years before you can start to harvest them regularly so get on with planting yours! If you manage to get hold of Stewart's Purple asparagus or similar then plant it. It is delicious.

 21. @Tyrus I’m also crediting you with black truffle salt magic. I used mine on my fries, potatoes, and some eggs this morning abd it’s been rockin. And I also will say McDonakds fries are the best but I have not had them in ages.

 22. BigO, you will in find whatever KK product you buy will be well worth the price. Just wait until you taste the food.

 23. Good, but the black truffle salt that I just scored is even better on fries, so I'm guessing it would be on chips, too!

 28. We sorta feed an army. We usually have two big parties a year, catering for 100 people each time. We also cook and feed friends a lot. None of that has happened this year and so I end up delivering ice cream to friends' houses in an effort to turn over our "stock". The big bonus of having this freezer was that we never had any reason to raid the stores when lockdown hit. As the husband said: without knowing it we had been practising for a pandemic for the last ten years. You've outed me Brian. Someone is going to be at my door soon, wanting to investigate an un-British addiction to excess refrigeration.

 30. We switched from summer fun to winter fun yesterday. I have three daughters, two are normal, the middle child has a screw loose! She is a total free spirit. We went snow skiing yesterday. Not the best conditions but still a lot of fun.

 31. I shuddered when I read that. Good knives don't go near the dishwasher, don't get thrown together, even when being washed and put in the sink and never use a scotch pad (even if they say 'non scratch'). We once had a house guest get a knife out of the knife drawer and use it to prise a tin lid where the pull had snapped off. My wife only told me after they'd gone. Managed to snap the tip on a very expensive knife. There is now a lock on the drawer. For the kids. Which we don't have. 😁

 35. 1) The sleeve has a spring loaded plate.. the point means nothing. It might have dirt in it if it does not move. Just bang it a few times with something, it definitely moves. 2) Unscrew the round shaft to adjust length and then turn the small round nut with flat side tight against the square part to lock.
