Landed on terra firma friday night, could not wait to get my momma's OTB cooking. Ran around all day and ran out of time.. Went to the market thought I'd do some grillin' as it was already 7pm. Bought a marinated Tri-Tip from a very nice meat counter. He said we could grill it.. Virtual web site called for 4-5 hours. So I dropped it in with some cherry smoke at 240º for about 20 minutes.. Then cranked open the top to bring it up to 350. Stopped for a glass of wine and saw it shoot by 350 to 450. Meat temp 148º. Shut it down and let it dwell and pulled it at 165º. EDIT** Thermometer was off.. this was really about 130º Let it rest 20 minutes.. The best meat I've eaten this year. Tender, VERY tasty, off the charts great.. Why does nobody cook or write about this cut?

I'll be off line during the next 24 or so hours it takes for me to get back to the States. I'm back to celebrate my Grand fathers 95th Birth day..

Ultimate list I want some of what your drinking... I read this: This unit will set you back around $12,000USD, but will probably outlast civilization. But he's not saying that the Kalamazoo is #1 but the 1st of a list of Ultimate BBQs. YOu know how heavy metal is sacred with most of the BBQ population.. so in this case I don't mind sitting pretty/beautiful at #2.. 1. Kalamazoo Bread Breaker II Dual Fuel Hybrid Grill - Ultimate Heavy Metal 2. Komodo Kamado - Ultimate Beauty 3. Fire Magic Elite Magnum 50 inch - Ultimate Power 4. Traeger Longhorn Steer Smoker/Grill - Ultimate Q-Cool 5. DCS Liberty Collection - Ultimate Elegance 6. Weber Ranch Kettle - Ultimate Kettle 7. The Grillery Grillworks - Ultimate Purity 8. Cooking potatoes in resin produces the finest baked potato you will ever eat. Guaranteed! Pine Rosin or "resin" is a very thick almost sap. It can be bought here: http://jas-townsend.com/product_info.php?products_id=373 The extreme hot produces a remarkably light and fluffy potato. Place in a large iron kettle: 10 - 25 lbs. Resin This sounds extravagant, but the resin may be used repeatedly. Heat resin to the boiling point. This resin will flash so be careful also. Slowly lower a potato into the resin using a large slotted wooden-handled spoon. Allow them to remain in the simmering resin until they float to the top. Remove potatoes and place at once diagonally on foot-square sheets of heavy brown paper. Twist the ends of the paper and serve the potatoes in the wrapping. The process is more thermodynamic than culinary. The hot resin seals the skin of the potato, allowing it to cook very quickly while holding in the moisture.

Komodo Kamado - Ultimate Beauty Komodo Kamado The history of the Kamado Charcoal Grill is too long and confusing to recount. Suffice to say that when Dennis Linkletter found himself in possession of a little company importing these ceramic charcoal wonders, he knew he could make it better. From a reinvention of airflow, spring assisted lid, and laser cut stainless steel parts this is one loaded grill. It includes the EZQ Rotisserie system and the BBQ Guru temperature control blower. Anyone who knows eggs about Kamado grills know that they grill at incredible temperatures and smoke at a perfect low and slow pace. Suggestion: Include 1 Free Box of Extruded Coconut Charcoal
DennisLinkletter replied to paul1927's topic in Komodo General
Re: Suggestion: Include 1 Free Box of Extruded Coconut Charc I wish I had a big pallet of coconut charcoal. It's made in the Philippines and so it goes directly to the States. But yes that would be right up my alley to fill Komodos with charcoal. I love the idea.. -
Disappearing template.. After the carton shape was cut out of MDF to use as the jig for the shaper it mysteriously disappeared. We searched and searched to no avail.. So a new one has already been made and we will get back on it. I'm flying to the states on July 6th and will do everything I can to have them done before I go.. PS the new wood factory manager started today!!

Komodo Coconut Charcoal... Both cat's are out...
DennisLinkletter replied to DennisLinkletter's topic in KK Announcements
Is this the price at our door or the price at the terminal (and then we need to ship to our location)? How many boxes on a pallet and is a pallet discount available? That's a projected west coast terminal cost.. I'm now shopping both logistic warehouses and transportation. Their will be discounts but the amount of boxes on the pallet will be determined by price breaks according to weight for the transportation. If anybody has any great ideas for charcoal distribution I'm all ears.. -

Target price for a 22lb box will be $16.28 or .74 a lb. The transportation details need to be worked out but the basic target price for a 22lb box will be $16.28 or .74 a lb. West Coast (less than Mexi K sold it for in 2003) I will be trucking the charcoal in large quantities (to get the best volume discounts) to East coast distribution points. -
New template Just a teaser.. The teak table top will sit down into the stainless folding bracket and be removable so you can take it into the house. Has two small latches to lock it in place also. And last but not least.. my finest creation..

Future stock I just thought it would be a nice little extra to supply some sealer for when the grout dries out. Save you a trip to the hardware store. DJ is right on the money about how to apply..

There's a new sherif in town.. Yes these companies primary business is activated carbon made from granulated charcoal. These granules of charcoal both born hotter but more importantly they don't completely crumble after they are extinguished. They can also be pressed together without the binders that the powder requires. The by product of this granule production is the undesirable smalls and powder (bottom of the barrel;-) that is then pressed into briquettes and sold. Do some searching and you will find photos online of the powder briquettes back in powder form from rough handling. -

Komodo Coconut Charcoal... Both cat's are out...
DennisLinkletter posted a topic in KK Announcements
I will be shipping a container this month.. This is the best coconut charcoal I've found. It's the original Coconut charcoal tested by TNW for Mexi K. I have the exclusive rights to sell it in the US now. It will also be bundled with Komodo customer service.. PS the green is much nicer on the real image.. Jpeg compression turned it into split pea soup.. -
Should I just re-tap them here to to 1/4 NPT? Should I just re-tap them here to to 1/4 NPT? Is that the best size for a 90º with the standard 3/8 flare tip?

I'm going to have to call you out on this one.. Well Mr Steve.. I'm going to have to call you out on this one.. Numerous, let's be concise here.. I received two Emails on both on Friday the 8th at 1:23am and then again at 8:24pm. I'm one day ahead of you and I'm not always able to be online as many hours on the weekends as I am during the week. I think the problem is not the less than 48 hours since you heard from me..it's that during the week I got back to you every-time in less than 12 hours.. I think your being a little unfair to say I'm ignoring you over the weekend.. Straight talk here.. I have a life too.. and a 19 month old lil girl who is very attention intensive! Thanks for your involvement on the forum.. Please don't feel ignored, I just need to step away sometimes on the weekends.
