After Dennis' post about using the defunct hair dryer to jump start his charcoal, I did a search and found this on Amazon. https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B00D5FS7HA I ordered one, for S-n-G's. I've used it several times now and I have to say that I like it. Easy to use, no cords (battery powered), works like a charm. Now I can hit the charcoal with only a 10 second blast from the MAPP torch, then hit the lit spot with this blower with a couple of 10 second blasts, and we're off to the races. Will save some coin on MAPP gas canisters, as AAA batteries are cheaper. Don't know yet how many uses I'll get out of a set of 3 AAA batteries, but I buy them in lots of 40 at CostCo, so I have plenty of them around.2 points

Thanks, CC. A little more practice and see what happens. As I said they tasted great with the creamy centres and if they were more crispy they would be perfect. A big tip of the hat to dstr for posting this method. Sure is easy and can be done at the last minute and on top of that they taste great.2 points

Wednesday we decided to sleep in. When we finally got up and moving I had a quick project that needed me to take a measurement in the crawl space under the house. While down there I figured out my 15 year old hot water heater had a leak . Spent the day going to town getting a new hot water heater and installing it. Now there's a fun way to spend a vacation day - NOT - LOL . With that done it was time to make some pizzas. Got my sister involved. I stretched the dough and she built the pies. . Ham and black olives. White Margarita. Pepperoni. Sliced tomatoes and Jalapeño. In the haste to get eating I guess I forgot to take a picture of the last pie (sliced tomato and Jalapeño). . Not vicious, they will spray you if you get too close and that stuff stinks big time and it sticks and is the devil to get rid off. You don't want your dog to get sprayed either.2 points

I canceled out on a trip to Milwaukee (in part) related to my Bricklin car club to be home for the arrival and subsequent first cooks on Pele... The resulting cooks on Pele were undoubtedly better than the fish fry that was to be the food highlight at the car show I ended up missing... Sometimes tough decisions have to be made!1 point

I do not get tired of these delivery threads. It honestly brings me back to mine and I get all excited about my purchase again. And there seems to be way more of these lately which is looking good for Dennis too! I would have canceled whatever I was working on, knowing that I had a KK waiting for me back home.1 point

@churchi - 40 or 50 should do give the traffic we're seeing on a daily basis. I think we can always up it later if need be. Thanks for all you do, Mate.1 point

Charles - gorgeous pies! I especially love that ham and black olive pie. Major league goodness. Kudos! Im thinking your sister a d BIL have already gained something like 10 pounds apiece and will have to leave at the end of the week just to lose weight! These are some great cooks!1 point

I was desperate for something to eat this evening so made some fries. I need to do another batch because I think I had too many fries in the pan for the amount of oil. They were not crispy but the centers were very creamy and they were tasty. Now if I can just get the outside crispy they will be perfect. I'm using dstr8's cold start method.1 point

I do Fruita and have for a long time. When I screw up and run out of something, I'll hit the local Academy but it has to be a real emergency.1 point

@Aussie Ora, By no means am I trying to talk anyone out of a larger KK. They are awesome! I could have easily gone with a 23 and be very happy. I will say though that I am totally stoked about my 21 and use if often, just not often enough on week nights. This thread just sort of got me thinking as I have downsized my home recently. I have purged so much stuff that it is almost embarrassing, and still need to get rid of more. I have a smaller footprint compared to my last place and certainly am missing the out of doors areas to put things, if only I could create a big fish cleaning like area with a sink would be great for instance. So in the spirit of getting smaller as I move though life, I have started to try and think of ways to simplify everything. That of course is another story, lol.1 point

There's been past talk of it, but the logistics might be a bit difficult. We need to find a cluster of KK owners in the same local area so we can have enough grills to cook on. I'm thinking Bosco's??1 point

ckreef, mmm, looking delicious. You now how some owners of other grills get together and organize cooking events. We should all try organizing a KK event...watcha y'all think?1 point

I followed ckreef`s tutorial on KA pizza dough and had fabulous results.....even with my kamado not staying at the proper temp due to the fact that I used a heat gun to get the fire blazing for apparently way too long and then made me burn through a full fire box super fast. Even with that pretty massive mistake I had superb results. You have ruined my old pizzas for me. This was insanely good and I'm sure will only get better as I get more comfortable.... And don't use my heat gun too much! I highly recommend trying his method.1 point

I miss my Mom's chicken and dumplings, too. Killer looking peaches. I did one recently with just Dizzy Pig's Pineapple Head. Quite tasty!1 point

A popular place is fruita wood chunks. They have very high quality pieces. Personally I prefer charcoal store.com. They also have good quality, but will ship 5lb boxes, I believe fruita's minimum is 10lbs. Rob1 point

THe 32" BB had a larger draft door that looked a bit vacant so I added another dial which was well received and collected lots of kudos. When I released the 22" standing I decided to use the new two dial design and immediately had requests from 23" users for a similar draft door for theirs. Next thing you know I started adding them to new production. I can honestly say there is no performance difference only more cool factor... Self-opening 32” Big Bad standard tiles $5,900 Pebble and metallic $6,100 Comes standard with multi-layered insulated body and four 3/8” 304 stainless steel grates that can be used in four cooking positions, SS charcoal basket, SS drip pan, 2 pair of heat deflectors one for browning, rotisserie shaft system (roti ready), Auto Temp control fan faceplate (BBQ Guru/Rock's Stokker), Teak and stainless BBQ Guru plug, side accessory plates, grill hanger. Tuesday we went to the Atlanta Aquarium - a true world class aquarium. First time for sister and BIL, they loved it. . My sister mentioned that she had not had my mom's chicken and dumplings for a few years now (since before my mom passed away) so I figured I would whip up a couple of pots worth. I used leftover chicken from the rotisserie chicken cook. I did this cook inside - it's just easier than on the grill. After dinner we were sitting out in the garden letting dinner settle before desert. At around 9:30 pm Mrs skreef pointed up to the sky, "Hey I think that's the International Space Station!" We watched it cruise across the sky. I then Google searched it's fly over schedule and sure enough that was what we saw. BIL had never seen a fly over and thought it was really kewl. . At about this time Prometheus (16.5" KK) was up to temperature so it was time to whip together desert. Peaches stuffed with cheesecake. One of my favorite deserts during peach season.
