  1. Dinner is served! I only sauced the upper 2/3 of the rack. Grilled indirect @ 275F, with the smoker pot loaded with hickory, peach and apple chunks.

  2. Found a unicorn...a used KK 23 in perfect condition. Had a super fun time taking it down 40+ stairs and transporting to my house. I've been practicing with ribs and chicken before I try a Brisket for the first big cook...

  3. It might be hot but never too hot for a hot rib dinner. I boiled the potatoes first then rubbed with butter and sprinkled on some granulated garlic, Zanzibar Pepper, Egyptian Basil and Silk Chili. Next I put them in the airfryer at 350F for about 12 mins.

  4. I did the burn in today, no bubbling and only 1 small white spot. It burned @ 550 to 575 for 8 hours and half the basket of charcoal wasn't even lit! Here is the first cook

  5. I finally found a source for beef plate ribs and they are prime! Started the grill at 0600 this morning and put the ribs on at 0800 cruising along about 275. 2 racks about 4 lbs each. Dusted them with a couple of different dizzy pig rubs. Pulled when they hit about 200 about 5 hours in. Happy 4th of July everybody.

  6. Thanks for all the welcoming notes. I was way too focused on moving it to even think about a video. We removed the top and got two movers and we did it all by hand. The interior stairs were very narrow and we tipped it over and set it down on the legs for each stair (side of the legs). Outside was wider and we used the vent openings to carry it down upright and stopped on each stair with the back legs. Fortunately, the three of us were all strong and kinda dumb. It wasn't really that bad... Strap artwork in the trailer...

  10. I am getting ready for delivery of the 23" grill. I know that it is quite heavy so I am preparing for my deck to support the added weight. Things are looking pretty good!

  16. @Jeff S - nice steak cook. But, I did notice in the one pic that you ran your temperature probe wire over the lip - you don't need to do that on a KK, as Dennis has put wire ports in the side (2 in your case - one on each side) to run the wired through so they don't get crushed by the lid. Look for the little rubber plug on the side just below the lip (you have side tables, so you might have to look underneath it.) The rubber plug has a slit cut into it to go around the wire(s) and you plug it back in the grill. If your temperature probe plug end is too large to fit through the hole in the KK and your temperature probe is slightly curved, you can bend it to straighten it out so it will thread through the hole. Just apply even gently pressure as you straighten it, and it will work just fine.

  28. Thanks for the welcome - Both BGE and Primo are in Atlanta, a 10 min drive to either for me . . . not the most obvious choice to switch to KK. Having Dennis call with answers less than a day after emailing questions has helped. The ramp was scary, but did the job pretty much as expected 😜 The alternatives were a 40 ton crane parked in the drive to lift it over the house or building a ramp 2.5x as long in the backyard to get it to deck height. There are some things I might do differently (video, take the lid off!) but hope to never do that again! Here are the first low and slow cook pictures. Put the shoulder on last night at 11 and added the ribs this morning at 630. So far so good . . . . Cheers!

  35. Pork ribs on the menu today, sprinkled with smoked paprika, granulated garlic and pepper, then added to the 250F-275F for 4.5 hours. Done. Plated. I just love this time of the year where you can run to the garden and get fresh greens and not too much longer, tomatoes.

  36. Last night was pizza night, supposed to bake on the KK but due to circumstances beyond my control the bake was late so IDK stove came to the rescue. I really wanted to try the Egyptian Basil that I bought from Burlap & Barrel Spice company on a pizza. I love this spice on other things and thought it would be extra special on a pizza. I just add some of the basil to warn tomato sauce and let it sit while I was getting things ready, added a little of their Mediterranean Coriander too. Loaded pizza, those are Shiatsu peppers on the pizza. Baked @ 500F for 10 mins. I will for sure be making this pizza again.

  40. It was another gorgeous day here and the outside was calling me, so much to do and so little time. Transplanted my tomatoes into bigger pots and set them up in a tent in the greenhouse to keep them from freezing. There was some yard work to do and then there was that 10 pork belly that I bought yesterday. Needless to say a quick lunch was needed and here it is. A nice salad while the sausages were on the KK. Plated.

  41. We are having a stunning day today, sun, no wind, no bugs, the birds are singing, it's awesome. So what better thing to do than make an awesome cheeseburger on the KK. Made the rolls yesterday, previously ground a chuck roast and also made pickled red onions yesterday. I'm ready. I guess the site is not, I am unable to attach pixs. :(:(:( Here are the red onion rings pickling in salt, sugar, sherry vinegar with a bay leaf and cubano pepper. There is purple crack on this salad. K
